Confidence vs Arrogance
What AI says about confidence vs arrogance:
"Confidence is a feeling of certainty in oneself and one's abilities. It's a realistic, secure sense of one's capabilities, without arrogance or feeling superior to others.
Confidence can also mean:
The conviction that one has the ability to meet life's challenges and to succeed
"Arrogance is an offensive display of superiority or self-importance, or overbearing pride."
"Arrogance often masks underlying feelings of inadequacy or insecurity. People who exhibit arrogant behavior may do so as a way to overcompensate for their own doubts or fears about themselves."
Einstein has no need to go around saying he is smart day after day. He also has no need to tell others they are stupid. I wonder why that is? He has no need to. Everyone knows he's smart. If you have to say something, especially repeatedly, it feels like you need to convince someone. Who? Yourself? If it were true, you wouldn't need to say it. It would be obvious.
Also Einstein: "The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know."
Arrogance would say, "I'm better than everyone and I know more than everyone despite no evidence to prove this claim!"
The thing is, we mistake arrogance for confidence. Our lizard brain thinks the person with the puffed out chest will be the one to maul the rabid tiger in the savanna. But should you ever really face the rabid tiger in the savanna, you want the person with the proven real track record of survival. Not the person who spends their time insulting the tiger and bragging that they can win.
Saying you're better than Taylor Swift doesn't magically make you a young billionaire.
There's this, 'if you don't agree to superiority and how everyone else is inferior, then it's because you're insecure and believe in equality and are liberal." Yo. No. Taylor Swift is superior. Objectively. And she's amazing. at. like. everything. And she spends her time making awesome things. I admire superiority. I don't admire people who insult others.
There's proactive confidence which creates things. And then there's arrogance which does nothing but says it can do better.

Mies van der Rohe
"Architecture, when done right, embodies a civilization’s values and aspirations: it shows what mattered to a given group of people at a given time in history" ( 1 )
I also love Modernity and Mies van der Rohe and the elegance of the unadorned glass box, but it was a particular time in history and no time lasts indefinitely.
"accepted by Mies as vindication of his lifelong principle that architecture must be true to its time. His own severely geometric, unembellished buildings have been designed to express in purest forms a technological concept of our technological age." ( 2 )
