Today marks 7 years of sobriety. The best decision I ever made in my life was that new year morning 7 years ago when I decided to see what would happen if I didn’t drink or do any drugs for a month. At the end of that month was my birthday. I was extremely sick, my skin looked grey, I had lost too much weight, and was struggling with my physical health. But the world, which had been a blur for so long, began to come into focus. While the change that month didn’t seem huge there was a positive change and I could feel it. So I decided to keep it going till the end of Feb. I felt better and clearer minded. Kept it going till the end of March and so on and so fourth. Now it’s been 7 years. I think I’ll keep it going. My mental health, my physical health, and my life is better than it has ever been and I can actually see and appreciate what I have. I am grateful to those who reach out to me with questions or curiosity regarding my sober journey. I am grateful for my family and friends who support me!
