Roos Vandekerckhove Pop-Up in Bxl!

I've been wanting to post for a long time, but time flies.. Today I want to talk about the Roos Vandekerckhove store which opened this summer on rue Dansaert. After the success of their pop-up store in Antwerp, the Belgian brand - known for its knits as well as patterns - decided to come and settle for a few months in Brussels (read: you still have until november to check it out!). Go and have a look to see the collection, a selection of Passaporta books as well as art by Albert Pepermans :-)

CinemArno @ Capitole Ostend

Last friday I went to Ostend as it was the opening of CinemArno, a happening/installation to celebrate Arno's 65th birthday. The visual and auditory experience takes place in an ancient cinema (hence the name) and the result is quite impressive..

Pop Wrap

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic wrap dress, Diane von Furstenberg got together with the Andy Warhol Foundation and created a line of exclusive wrap dresses, mixing her and his iconic prints - 

Being an über-Warhol-fan this was the dress I HAD to get, and I absolutely love it! Joyful, colourful - it definitely lightens up your mood and day.. The exclusive limited edition of dresses (check this), tops as well as a tote and a super cute wristlet (with the famous $$ signs, see below) are available at the DVF shops in Belgium

Kiehl's in Brussels

If you know about the brand, then you must be ûber-happy, if you don't - you'll be happy too (once you have tried their products)..                   Kiehl's opened a shop in Brussels a few months ago. Finally the American cosmetics brand is available in our country and has a small and cozy little shop located at Toison d'Or.

Whatever you need..they have it. A very nice team is there to listen and guide you, a plus! Also, should I mention the samples? Try them at home first, you'll love them and want more ;)

Why are you still reading? You should be running to the store!

This being said, be aware of the ultra-addictiveness of their Mango Lip Balm, heaven in a stick.

Mode Parcours 2013 - Brussels

It seems like I haven't posted anything in a looooong time, sorry about that.. So with a little delay (ahem, ok almost a month) I decided to post about the Mode Parcours organised by Mad last October. It's the perfect thing to find out about new designers, see more about the ones you know by strolling through the shops and having a look at the installations. Here are just a few shots I took on sunday, where we started our tour at Pain Quotidien

Mode Parcours 13 - OMSK & Soldout @ Essentiel

There was one place to be though, and that was Essentiel, as there was an event that couldn't be missed during the Parcours - Omsk Belgium (remember last year in Moscow?) showed their St. Petersburg FW14 Collection, AND Belgian band Soldout gave a small concert. The music was nice (hadn't seen them in ages, so really enjoyed seeing them again), the place was packed, there was a good vibe, really enjoyed the night..

5 Rooms Art Cafe - Kiev

At the beginning of September I was in Kiev and accidentally came across  an intriguing underground place; the "5 Komnat" cafe. After being welcomed by a small dog you walk into the place - several rooms, a small shop - it's literally an apartment. You go to the kitchen to serve yourself whatever pleases you, take a book, play some games, and have a nice time..

Worth a visit if you are live in Kiev or if you are travelling there.. Check their activities on Facebook !

NightShop @ Villa Knokke

Last friday was the opening of NightShop at the Villa (right across the casino). I happened to be there, so went to have a look. It is the place this summer to enjoy a drink, design, art and fashion at the seaside in the evening, between 5 and 11 pm.

Go and have a look at the different installations and works, it's open from thursday to sunday (until september 1st). I enjoyed this installation (and managed to forget the name - someone please help me!)

Fashion spot in Brussels (Dansaert)

While strolling downtown on a recent day off, I came across a small and very nice shop called Canvas White. It was actually the window display and especially some RedValentino accessories placed there that caught my eye, and without even realising it I had made my way inside already. What I found was not only a nicely decorated store but a selection of exclusive pieces from different brands; Current Elliott, Jill Sander, RedValentino, Kitsuné (note the white sneakers below) just to name a few.. This place is like heaven on earth for the casual chic woman, worth a visit!

BAZA(A)R BELG(I)E @ Centrale for Contemporary art

Yesterday I got to go to Claude Blondeel's Baza(a)r Belg(i)ë exhibition at the Centrale in the centre of Brussels. The renowned art and culture critic celebrates his retirement with an exhibition, showing a 100 Belgian art pieces - the best ones according to him, as well as a book "Baza(a)r Belg(i)ë" and a CD, where he guides you through his imaginary museum. By using different mediums (pictures, quotes, art works, videos) you get an insight into modern pieces - from art to cinema, photography, literature and architecture.

The exhibition is definitely worth a visit, all of these works come from different museums and private collections. Here are the things that I liked a lot (without giving too much away)..

This quote and drawing by Félicien Rops, one of the first pieces when entering - "Mon âme est enfermée dans mon corps come un tigre affamé dans une cage en acier et mes terribles passions rugissent comme lui..."

This installation by Benoît van Innis ("Ma bibliothèque imaginaire")

And others, including Panamarenko and Bervoets

The exhibition will be until September 29 2013 at the Centrale (Place Sainte Catherine 44, 1000 Brussels).

He will also be presenting a selection of films - "Belgorama" at Cinematek during september - check their site for more - there are two I'll definitely go to: Couleur Chair by François Weyergans (with Bianca Jagger and Dennis Hopper) and Naughty boys by Eric de Kuyper.

Cédric Charlier @ Hunting and Collecting

Belgian born and Paris based fashion designer Cédric Charlier presented looks from his FW 2013 collection at Hunting and Collecting in Brussels last night. 

The looks? Feminine, modern with an edgy side and important details - in other words - extremely nice. Here are my favorites from the installation
