How to Say Dates & Times in German
After studying this session, You shall be in a position to mention the days & months, also express the dates in calendar, talk about the dates and deadlines & seasons in German Language.
The English and German Words for names of every month are identical, because Latin is the base. Due to the heritage of Germany, the days are similar in many cases. The names of The Teutonic Gods is present in the names of each day for both the languages, English & German.
One example, Germanic God of thunder and war, Thor , lends the name to both German Donnerstag (thunder = Donner) and English Thursday.
The German (Days of the Week ) (Tage der Woche)
Let’s start with weekdays or (days of the week) (tage der woche). Almost all days in German end with the word (der) Tag, similarly English days end with "day." The week for Germans (and the calendar) always starts with Monday (Montag) instead of Sunday. Following is each day shown with a common two-letter abbreviation.

Since they usually end with a tag (der Tag), hence the weekdays are masculine (der).
Mittwoch and Sonnabend, are two exceptions though they are also masculine.
Saturday has two words. In most of Germany, Austria and German Switzerland, the word Samstag is used for mentioning Saturday.
