So someone on the Tumblr machine said something along the lines of, “What if Cas died and his wings were scorched on Dean’s arms forever”. So I drew it. And guess what… it’s really depressing.

Dean and Cas being that™️ domestic couple that remind each other not to forget things multiple times a day. “Don’t forget your jacket, Dean, it’s cold outside,” Cas will call from the couch; causing Dean to go back and get a jacket and drop a kiss to the top of Cas’ head on his way out. “Keys are on the counter next to the toaster. Don’t forget them like you did last time,” Dean teases Cas, squeezing the angel’s hip softly as he walks past. “You’d better not forget the ice cream this time,” Dean pouts as Cas goes to the grocery store, earning a fond eye roll and three entire cartons of ice cream just to be extra. “Clothes are in the washer. Don’t forget to dry them,” Cas says, diverting from his path to the kitchen to kiss Dean on the cheek.

But Dean always remembers where it started. How Cas had been taking Jack out to go to an art class the kid was desperate to try. Cas had almost been out the door when Dean had called back, “Aren’t you forgetting something?” All he’d been trying to do was to remind Cas to take his phone, but instead, the angel crossed the room, pondered it for two seconds, and then pecked Dean on the lips. Their first ever kiss. “Bye Dean,” Cas said, nodding as if the goodbye kiss was definitely the thing he’d forgotten.

Years later, it’s still Dean’s favorite thing to remind Cas. “Aren’t you forgetting my goodbye kiss?” he’ll say whenever Cas goes to do something. Cas always comes back, kissing Dean deep and slow with a murmured ‘i love you’ for good measure.

"do you know its been 6 months?" dean murmurs, tracing his fingertips over cas' hipbone in soft strokes before sneaking a kiss behind his ear. cas turns over, rustling the covers on the bed as he faces dean. "6 months since what?" cas asks, swooping in to steal a kiss from dean's lips just because he could. dean hums into the kiss before pulling away marginally, just to rest their foreheads together. "6 months since you told me you loved me," dean whispers, words still sticking in his throat after all this time, as if he still didn't believe he could have this. cas smiles softly, tilting his head down and seeking out dean's mouth again. this time the kiss lingers, slow and deep and so so good. "5 months and 29 days since you told me you loved me too," cas murmurs against dean's lips. with a soft gasp, dean pulls cas impossibly closer until their limbs are tangled and cas is draped across his chest. "when was the last time i told you i loved you?" dean asks once he breaks off yet another kiss, breath ghosting across cas' cheek. "5 minutes ago," cas hums, fingers trailing over dean's shoulder where his handprint lingers. "i love you," dean repeats for the hundredth time. and when cas leans down to kiss him for maybe the thousandth time, dean meets him halfway.

when cas doesn't have his angel powers, he still automatically put his fingers to dean's temple to heal him if he's hurt. and even though it doesn't work, dean will quietly murmur, "all better, nice and healed," and he takes cas' fingers from his forehead and places a soft kiss to cas' fingertips just to reassure his angel that he's okay

top 5 sentences uttered by dean in the cw’s superntural i think about every morning when i wake up a lie completely still staring at my ceiling: 

5. “is it okay if I still call you Mom? Or should I call you Mary?” after, like, one day of his mom leaving to be on her own

4. “Mom’s kind of a babe.” again, about his LITERAL mother supernatural i’m begging you instead of putting in incest subtext you can treat women like people i’m begging you to choose that instead 

3. “… thanks” after cas tells him “you’re not the broken shell of a man I thought you to be” insane because he actually means it

2. “yeah well, there are times i want to get slapped during sex by a girl wearing a zoro mask. don’t mean it’s a good idea.” in response to sam saying they should respect cas’ choice to be possessed by lucifer, literally nothing prompting this at all. his best argument for why they should ignore cas’ choice to let the devil inside him is that dean himself represses his shameful sexual desires and he can help cas do it too

And two, you are not going to die a virgin.” this is an insane thing to say because this isn’t something people say there was no cultural sterotype in 2009 where all and any tough guys knew that bert and ernie were gay this is bonkers bananas

okay, but like, here's the thing. dean wants to be Baby in that he wants to be viewed the way he views her, all without it being explicitly stated. or, he thinks he doesn't want/can't handle it, especially spoken out loud. he wants to be her for everyone in that he wants to be reliable, consistent, a comfort, and a home. he wants to invoke that same feeling of safety he gets from her, but for everyone else, specifically sam. but he wants to be treated like her by cas. he wants to be appreciated by cas the same way he appreciates Baby, but silently. and, more to the point, he wants to be handled by cas the way he himself handles Baby. he doesn't ask her permission before he gets under her hood, for example, and he knows her inside and out. he maintains her. she is, fundamentally, an object that he claims with reverence without ever having any pushback because, well, she's a car. and like, in this metaphor, he IS Baby. so, that scene where he breaks her is him attacking himself, which translates really well because he blames himself for his father's death. but that scene where he rebuilds her is completely unrelated to him at all, and that's cas' role. dean was rebuilt by cas, and he's been wanting cas to maintain him and get under his metaphorical hood (do with that what you will) ever since, but without any of it actually being granted to cas. he doesn't want to pass cas his metaphorical keys. he just wants cas to hotwire him and get the hell in and drive.
