“Be careful, child. This Horde you venture forth to join are not like our tribe. Some hold a great hate in their hearts… one that even you may be unable to heal.”
Jumpin’ on the damn bandwagon because I can and because I’m nervous-laughing all my way from creating this druid up until these recent quests. She’s a bit shell-shocked, to say the very least.
I hope you aren’t getting too sick of the tauren scribbles yet!

[Long-OOC] To the people saying they are leaving the Horde
(Apologies in advance because this is one of Zan’s long preachy posts that I’m going to not put behind a cut because I think the full message needs to be seen.)
To the people saying they are leaving the Horde, the game, are uncomfortable or upset with the current narrative, or perhaps feel scammed by Blizzard.
I know there’s a lot of negativity flying at you from different directions; Players on both sides of the fence being cruel to you, or chiding you, for not liking what they like—the faction war, the narrative, or for your discomfort because it’s “only a game.” Some seem incapable of differentiating you and your characters from Blizzard’s poorly thought out mustache twirling teen rated cartoon villain Horde.
I know there are people will dismiss your feelings and say “It’s just a game, it’s just a game, don’t take it so seriously.” They fail to realize that when a human being sees a humanoid figure on a screen, or reads one in a book, they empathize, and they feel. It’s even moreso with people roleplaying, where you literally put yourself into that characters’ shoes. Our bodies do this trick on us, with mass media and things like roleplay, where they react, chemically, to what’s going on. We feel excitement, we feel sadness, we feel anger, we feel stress, excitement, our bodies are a chemical stew of oxytocin, cortisol, serotonin, estrogen, testosterone, and whatever else.
Perhaps you’re feeling a heart wrenching pain right now, from what was going on, a feeling of loss. Perhaps it’s more of the feeling you feel when your favorite sports ball team loses the big game. These aren’t just imagined, your body is really sending these signals, and you’re not insane, there’s not something wrong with you, and you’re not overreacting or being irrational for feeling however you’re feeling. It’s just chemistry and your body being stupid.
With that out of the way, I have something to say to you.
Maybe you are upset because you started playing during the Horde of Thrall, where a group of survivors of different races—arguably monsters, tried to survive and carve out their own place in the world. Maybe the Horde appealed to you a basic level because you were odd, or bullied, or the underdog and actually fitting in among other underdogs resonated deeply with you. Maybe you feel that Blizzard lied, betrayed, mislead, or did a bait and switch and this isn’t what you signed up for.
Your feelings are valid.
Maybe you are upset because you cannot afford the cost of faction changing all your characters, and you don’t want to leave all your friends and your community behind after all these years and start again. Maybe you’re upset at people blaming you, and laughing at your discomfort, and telling you to spend money or time you don’t have.
Your feelings are valid.
Maybe World of Warcraft is one thing in your life you found joy from in spite of anhedonia, of your depression and anxiety. Maybe it was the distraction kept the bad thoughts away when the meds could not fix situations you’ve been trapped in. Maybe now you’re no longer finding that joy or relief, and those feelings of enjoyment have been replaced with feelings of depression and guilt and people are crapping on your or minimizing your feelings.
Your feelings are valid.
Maybe you’re someone who is a target of real life hatred due to the color of your skin, your nation of origin, who you worship, who you love, due to your sex, or your gender identity. Maybe you need positivity and heroism in the stability of where you’ve always been right now instead of the “morally grey” edgy darkness. Maybe all those people telling you that you need to suck it up and just deal with it don’t realize you’ve already do enough sucking it up and dealing with it in your day to day life as you fear being profiled, attacked, or murdered for who you are.
Your feelings are valid.
Maybe you’re thinking of faction changing because of all of this or rerolling.
That’s okay, your feelings are valid. You’re not a coward for taking care of your heart first. Your comfort and your safety are always more important than roleplay.
Maybe you feel like ignoring the narrative, playing a neutral character, or having your characters have subversive views.
That’s okay. Your feelings are valid. You’re no less of a person or a roleplayer for this. Your comfort and your safety are always more important than roleplay.
Maybe you’re eyeing that unsubscribe button or your renewal is a few days away and you’re considering not renewing because you see this echo chamber of negativity blasting you and you’re afraid if you do your own thing you’ll be harassed. Maybe you’re just not having fun and you can’t justify the cost.
Your fears and feelings are valid. Know there are people on Wyrmrest Accord who remember what happened last time and we will stomp that crap out so fast people’s heads will spin. Find those people and take care of yourself
Likewise, it’s also okay to take a break. It’s okay to quit. Either way, your feelings are valid and you’re no less of a person or a roleplayer for pursuing what makes you happy, even if it’s somewhere else. You can still roleplay with your friends through alternate means, and friends, real friends, not the fleeting type, will still be your friends even if out move on—I’ve got people I still talk to that I roleplayed with two decades ago.
Whatever your reason for feeling not okay right now? For feeling disenchanted? For feeling annoyed? You’re not alone. You’re not crazy. You and your feelings are valid. The loud voices are not the only voices, don’t let them drag you down.
Hugs and kittens.

The Signs as Pirates
Aries: A crew of pirates that hail from a port city overrun with corruption. Their acts of disobedience put the crew at risk of being silenced forever so they escaped to the sea to develop their plan. They deliver supplies to residents of the city in the form of food and basic necessities as well as weapons for the brewing rebellion. The crew is on the run from corrupt officials but viewed as protectors by civilians.
Taurus: No other crew has been at sea as long as this one. This pirate crew is composed of several families that have sailed the same huge ship for countless decades. Their extensive knowledge of the sea is made clear by all the riches they have acquired and the jewels that dangle from their bodies. Other crews regard them with deep respect, making them pseudo-royalty in the seafaring world.
Gemini: A playful crew of master tricksters, sailing the world on a ship unlike any other–the crew constructed and repaired it as they traveled, which resulted in a ship with parts from all around the globe. The eclectic ship suits the crew well because each member joined the crew at a different location, creating a very diverse group. Days on the ship are filled with discussions, pranks, and learning about each member’s past life on land.
Cancer: The youngest known pirate crew. However, what they lack in years they make up for in courage and compassion. This ocean-eyed bunch boarded their ship and sailed away from a tragic past in a destroyed city. The crew protects each other from the dangers of the sea and takes in any lost children they encounter. Often underestimated for their youth and kindness, the crew surprises other pirates by coming to the rescue when another crew is in need.
Leo: These pirates sail in a ship plated with gold, crowned with ruby red sails and led by a beautifully carved marble lion figurehead. On board, the crew enjoys all the riches of the world, from diamond rings to emerald-crusted goblets. Exotic animals roam the deck, tigers and leopards dozing in the open sun and lionesses standing regally at the side of each crew member. It is considered an honor for your city to be visited by these pirates.
Virgo: Pirates that keep their ship docked in rocky caves with crystal-covered walls carved out of cliffs by ocean waves. These secret caves are also home to the crew’s legacy: tunnels leading to rooms filled with books written by crew members long passed, tables littered with hand drawn maps, and unique inventions and creations from all over the world. These pirates are known as the first to map the Seven Seas.
Libra: Pirates who drifted away from civilization and became overcome by the beauty of the world. The crew can be found on islands with their immaculate ship anchored nearby, dancing in ankle deep water on white sand beaches to music made with their own handmade instruments. Seashells and pearls are tangled in their hair and they sip a beverage similar to wine.
Scorpio: This pirate crew is known by most people as half reality and half folk lore because they are rarely sighted and never communicate with people outside the crew. The dark sails of their ship loom on the horizon every full moon for only a few moments before they seem to disappear without a trace. People speak of their wild eyes and jewelry made of shimmering fish scales, crystals, and dark gemstones.
Sagittarius: A ragtag band of rogues and outlaws, banished from their homeland for refusing to support a tyrannical ruler. They have been given a bad name by authorities but this reputation could not be further from the truth. This crew remains deeply loyal to each other as they travel the sea and find themselves in risky situations. While battling sea monsters and saving stranded refugees, they risk their lives for each other and constantly display their “all for one and one for all” philosophy.
Capricorn: This pirate crew has roamed farther than any other, reaching the Arctic Circle. They’ve adapted to the freezing climate, living in solitude for most of the year and migrating back to the mainland along the equator only when they need supplies. They are industrious inventors and skilled hunters, but record all their secrets in a coded language that only crew members can decipher.
Aquarius: This pirate crew is known for the strange events that seem to follow them wherever they go–hurricanes suddenly calming when their ship approaches, worldly objects disappearing from their homes and reappearing on board the ship, and the strange way the crew abandons the ship for the sea every night, trading their legs for scaly fish tails in the light of the moon… The crew itself is few in number and each member is of the same rank.
Pisces: A pirate crew that drifts from coast to coast in a ship that reflects the sun in a way that makes it appear to be made of silver. The sails seem to be the color of the ocean itself. These pirates let the stars guide them across the sea, stopping in port cities periodically to trade handmade tapestries for supplies. Their arrival is met with anticipation because most people believe the crew has been gifted with the otherworldly power of clairvoyance.
