Are there any chill/moderate Bylers on byler tumblr?

I’ve been a lurker since 2020 and I’ve taken a ton of breaks in between, but I’m just noticing a lot of bylers who are very passionate about the ship, and it seems a bit extreme at times so I’m wondering if there are people who ship byler like me but just moderately? Not in a “anyone who doesn’t see byler as a possibility is either homophobic or deluded”, but just chill, enjoying the ship and different dynamics that fans make up via fanart or fanfic?

Being on byler tumblr when there were only 7k followers, it was generally relaxed, people were making lots of theories, interpreting parts of the show and having fun, but now it just seems a little more hardcore. What happened to enjoying the ship in this little section of the internet? Now I see people demanding others to accept their interpretation of the show, despite it being opinion based, or cataloging other people as homophobic for even disliking the ship. I love byler, and I’ve loved them for the past 5 years, but it’s important to remember that both the show and its characters are fictional, and even though they represent something important to many people (Including me), it’s not real. What builds this community is people’s imaginations, their works, and the overall love and appreciation for the ship. I’ve seen a lot of negativity on byler tumblr recently, and I hope it lessens as we approach season 5!

Patchwork waistcoat I finished recently!

I’ve had a bag full of scraps of Harriss tweed for about a year now, from the last time I went to Scotland, and I always intended to make something like this! I lined it with some leftover duchess satin from my prom dress, and the buttons and bias tape finishing the sleeves are vintage. The one thing I’m hoping is that none of these are clan tweeds, otherwise it’s likely I’ve stuck some mortal enemies next to each other lol.

how about something shiny, like a silver/gold lamé of some kind? Or imo, leather fits with most things, so if you have some scraps laying around. That would also make it more durable/secure. I think there’s already some brown-ish elements in the heel caps and the soles so light brown leather might fit in nicely.

Right, question for diy Tumblr:

If I had a pair of shoes that I picked up from the thrift shop for a few bucks with two major concerns:

1) the strap over the toes on one has broken away from the shoe itself

2) the heel caps keep falling out

The toe straps are pretty thin, and I'm tempted to just replace them and secure new ones to the pad of the shoes. But I'm having trouble thinking what would go well with the already busy and atypical aesthetics of the fabric the shoes are made out of. So is it a safer bet to just try to stitch it back down with waxed pink thread? Or are there thoughts on a way to replace the straps altogether that would maintain or enhance the current aesthetics?

For the heel caps, I'm sure I could just glue them back in, however I'm wondering if there's anything I should know about possible structural weaknesses that could be part of them falling out. The heel columns are made of upholstered plastic, and I'm hesitant to just replace them (see above aesthetic challenges, but also I'm always loathe to rip out plastic just to rip it out, if it's still functional, I'd rather it not end up in a landfill yet). They're hollow too, so part of me feels like I could really do something fun with that long term, and I'd rather tnot rush that planning, but I will if say the plastic is starting to fail or I should be worried about structural integrity somehow.

Anyway. I hand the puzzle over to the internet. Thoughts folks?

The infighting that goes on in the fandom is so strange to me.

Idk man Mike and Will are not complicated to understand, so there's no reason for mischaracterizing them. They're teenagers with issues.

And it's gross when people bitch about Finn Wolfhard or Noah Schnapp. I get that their rabid fans are annoying, but don't take that out on either actor. They're just doing their jobs.

Also, if you don't like certain blogs, just block them. Don't be weird about it and make call-out posts or vague posts about them. Just leave them alone. Whether you like it or not they're a person on the other side of the screen.

ykno the thing about poetry is that 99% of it is bullshit and the other 1% will cut you like a material knife, and for every person that 1% is a different section of the whole. this is probably true about all art.
