he and his brother had always been close, so the acts of affections that may have been embarrassing to some siblings was not there for levi. vincent was all he had for as long as he could remember. “good, that’s good.” levi mumbled, leaning against the other heavily. kohl was starting to treat him better though who knew ho long that would last and he wasn’t going to jinx it. “kohl hasn’t answered me yet, about seeing you.” levi murmured. “or elliot but i don’t know if i want to see him anymore.” he said with a frown on his face.
levixcollins:
as soon as he started hearing the shuffling of feet behind him, he turned to look over his shoulder. not expecting to see vincent there, but he was glad he did. he smiled as the man lowered himself beside him, levi set the book aside. “this isn’t a dream, right?” he huffed out a light laugh. a cruel trick his mind was playing on him - he really needed vincent now. “you’re claimed now.” he said softly, swallowing. unsure of how he felt about that. “does he treat you well?”
He slung an arm around Levi’s shoulders and pulled him in close, kissing the top of his head. “Not a dream. I am claimed, and he does treat me well. Exceptionally well.” Vincent squeezed him a little tighter, knowing how fortunate he was. “I’ve been lucky… He knows about you, he’s already said he’s happy for us to see each other, even though I know Kohl may not agree so readily.”

levi hadn’t seen vincent in weeks it seemed, he missed his brother, he missed having him close and there for him when he needed to talk to him. it was hard being away from him for so long but he also thought it was good for him to have time away at the same time. but he could really use his brothers words of wisdom, his comforting hugs and soothing voice. he sat at the edge of a small pond not that far out from kohl’s home, tossing stones into the pound with a sigh. a couple more were tossed out before he reached up to scratch beneath the collar he was forced to wear, and grabbed the sketch pad he finally got. opening it, he simply stared at it. unable to get himself to start drawing with so much on his mind.

He was lucky that Barris was fairly generous with allowing him time to himself and he’d been using it to explore, while always keeping an eye out for Levi. It wasn’t until today that he’d actually gotten lucky enough to see his baby brother and he made a beeline for him. He would have called out but he didn’t want to ruin the moment or his luck. A part of him felt like if he called out they would be interrupted and then he’d be stuck waiting for an age to actually see Levi again.
So instead he walked over quickly to Levi, not speaking until he was close enough that his brother had probably already noticed. “Hey kiddo,” He greeted, taking a seat beside him.

“When would we have seen more of each other though?” Elliot questioned. In the time they’d been apart, Elliot had hardly had time to spare. He had been busy not just with his line of work with August, but the tournament and then hunting down his father that had led to the worst fight he’d ever had with the vampire. He knew taking a step back would likely hurt the other but Elliot had to maintain distance. When asked what was wrong he wasn’t sure how to answer. “The last time was a mistake. We shouldn’t have done that and it won’t happen again. Nothing is wrong Levi, but I have a lot on my mind, a lot has happened with me and August, just…don’t worry about it.” He tried to wave it off, not wanting to go into detail about things that Levi likely wouldn’t understand. He gave a sigh and ran his fingers through his hair before looking back at the human. “We can talk.”
“i don’t know but it would have been nice knowing that you’re okay!” levi exclaimed, shoving the note kohl had given him into his pants pocket. perhaps elliot really had been busy, but there wasn’t an hour or less to spare of his time to stop by and tell him he was still there? that he was still in the city and alive? elliot was keeping a distance from him still, even as he clearly saw the hurt etched into his features. more so when he told him what happened between them was a mistake and it shouldn’t have happened. “a mistake?” levi swallowed, seeing how he sighed and pushed his hair back. as if he was bothered by him being there talking to him. it was that sight that had him shooting a fist forward and colliding it with elliot’s face. “we can talk? are you sure? are you sure that’s not a mistake too? that it’s to much of a inconvenience for you?” levi spat out, his heart aching - throat growing tight as he fought to keep his tears at bay.

Kohl had sent the human off to handle a couple of errands. If he was going to live in the nice home, he was going to pull his weight. He’d sent him out on such errands before, once or twice just to get him out of the house so that he could handle some things. Today, he needed fruit and some apothecary items. When he had been alerted that Levi had returned, Kohl moved from his office to intercept him.
When he blew past him and disappeared up the stairs, Kohl stared after him. Hearing the thud, Kohl’s eyebrows furrowed together and he approached the pet’s room. Opening the door, not bothering to knock in his own home, he found the boy near the wall, cradling his hand. “What’s going on?” He asked incredulously.
before he could be chewed out by kohl, he successfully moved a wardrobe in front of the small hole in the wall, though just as he finished he was whirling around to stare at kohl. he swallowed, some of his anger had faded since he’d hurt himself. when he saw the kitsune only then did he remember about the errand he was sent to do. the note he was supposed to hand to the guy at the vendor was still in his pocket - he clenched his jaw. “if i tell you you’ll probably punch me twice as hard as i did to them.” and the wall, which he glanced at the furniture that had been moved in front of the hole. the human dropped his hands at his sides. “elliot.” he grunted, “that’s what was going on.” he slumped some.

at first when he thought he saw elliot he was excited, thinking that maybe august had changed his mind about leaving - and that had been the case. but why didn’t elliot think of coming to tell him? knowing that levi would have worried about him - the conversation quickly went sour with the admission that it was a mistake, they were a mistake basically their whole relationship. the way the wolf backed away from him, wouldn’t meet his eye all the time hurt him. it just angered levi, anger came before sadness and he just started wailing on the half-wolf. who just took his hits. there had been a few before levi ripped himself away from elliot and took off back to kohl’s home, the walk somewhat calming him, but not enough. when he was alone in his room after slamming the door he struck out at the wall, “son of a bitch!” he hissed, pulling his hand back towards him to look at where his skin split, and started bleeding. then his eyes went to the hole in the wall. “fuck,” he breathed out. kohl was going to kill him. @betrxg

levi moved closer to kohl, watching him quietly with curious eyes. it was if he was seeing the other in another light for the first time as they stood there and waited for his meal. “potatoes in every form are good. mashed potatoes are the best though.” levi was an avid potatoe enthusiast, in his mind anyhow. “what’s the rule on having my brother over?” levi asked, only because the atmosphere seemed to be rather calm now and he wasn’t afraid of upsetting kohl. “it’s been awhile since i saw him last... i don’t know if he’s been claimed yet.” the human mumbled, glancing around. “and uh...” levi began idly running his fingers over the counter top, looking away from kohl now. “are there new rules for this house? new expectations?”
levixcollins:
thankfully there was no argument about the food, because he would have been ready to come back at kohl with an argument of his own. his stomach was practically empty, he hadn’t had a full meal since he’d been claimed - since he’d been back home with vincent. so he shot up from the bed, and out the door and down the stairs quickly with no shame at all. “that’s disgusting,” the boy said flatly, but caught the sarcastic tone. “that really sounds fattening, you seem like a guy that likes to watch his figure.” levi commented before suddenly a servant was stepping forward into his space, blue-green hues looked them over before glancing back at kohl. anything he wanted? oh he shouldn’t have said that. within reason - but he planned to indulge.
the kitchen was full of various scents and some small pastries lined up on the island and some freshly baked breads as well. he’d have to taste test though. “chicken thighs, and legs - grilled. with potatoes on the side, i don’t care if they’re mashed or in fry form.” he was already watering at the mouth. “a salad with a lot of greens, dressed lightly. and something sweet, chocolatey.” and with that he sent the servant on his way with his order before moving to the island to pick up a roll for himself. “i can get used to this,” he snorted, ripping off a piece to pop into his mouth. “you’re not going to order anything?”
Kohl smirked as he ordered. Such a human meal but the way he did so so earnestly made him smile. Perhaps humans weren’t as boring as he thought they were. He always viewed them as being incredibly mundane and he would have been surprised to know otherwise. He watched him as the servant moved away, watching them get to work suddenly.
“Not yet. I ate this morning.” Unlike his pet, of course. “Besides, they rarely have a guest to cook for. They will like having a new item on the menu. I can’t tell you the last time that I had mashed potatoes.”

“because we could have saw each other more. it wouldn’t have changed anything?” levi seemed a bit shocked to say the least, elliot didn’t want to see him? did he not think of him when he found he was going to be staying in the city? even if for a little bit longer? when he had stepped forward again it had been a test, and elliot stepped back. he stepped away when he moved closer. that hurt more than it probably should have. “what’s wrong?” levi frowned lightly, not moving closer again yet. he was answered, of course, elliot apparently had a lot on his plate but it just didn’t add up in his mind. what was this tournament he spoke of? levi hadn’t heard anything about it. “so you can’t talk for a little bit? you aren’t allowed to be near me? what is it? you weren’t weird like this last time we were together.”
levixcollins:
levi stumbled back away from elliot when he was released, hand moving the rub the wrist that had just been clutched.it was partly his fault for sneaking up on him, but the action itself wasn’t something he’d been expecting. something about elliot seemed off, he was distant, not excited to see him or to catch up. he was very nonchalant about it all. “you could have came and told me that, so i wasn’t worrying all these days.” levi crossed his arms over his clothed chest, finally he had some real damn clothes. “what’s wrong with you? was it something i did?” he stepped closer to the wolf. if it was about the sex - they both chose to do that. but he hoped it wasn’t about that, or their relationship. because levi would be devastated even if he knew they had to be careful, the news of what happened while kohl was away didn’t please the man at all.
When Levi almost reprimanded him for not explaining that he was still in the city, Elliot should have apologised, but a lot had changed for him in the last few weeks. “What would have telling you changed? I’ll still be leaving.” He replied trying to keep a distance between them. He could see that Levi looked better, healthier, clothed, that was a good sign that whatever was going on with him and his master wasn’t as bad as Elliot had first feared. Maybe he’d overreacted the in the first place, but he remembered seeing the other hurt, that abandoned house, so the wolf was still dubious. He stepped back when Levi stepped forward, determined not to make things complicated. “No. I’ve got a lot on my mind Levi, the tournament, my work. A lot has happened.” Elliot answered. He was deliberately evasive and undetailed but he didn’t lie to the other, Elliot owed him that much. By keeping his distance Elliot was hoping to protect Levi to some degree, and himself to another.

After everything that had happened recently, Elliot was on his best behaviour, and he’d made a promise to himself and August. No more secrets, no more trying to do things himself when he didn’t need to, so much had changed. He was only out on a couple of routine errands to prepare for the tournament, getting his blades sharpened by the only blacksmith in the city August trusted, his armour tended to for the same reason, when he felt a hand on his shoulder. A little lost in thought, Elliot reacted before Levi’s voice registered and he suddenly turned, grabbing the human’s wrist and pulled him into a hold before that familiar scent registered and Elliot released him. “We are, but things have come up so we’re still here. We’ll go when August says its time to go.” He shrugged. He looked at Levi but tried to keep his distance some, tried to remain a blank slate. The last thing Elliot needed was another mistake to risk everything.

Kohl idly watched him explore the room, moving from wall to wall and looking back at him excitedly. When prompted, He nodded but otherwise stayed still and let the pet be happy. For once. When he mentioned his lack of funds, Kohl snorted. “Luckily, one of us does.” That should have been implied by his statement but he let it go for now. The pet was behaving and that was enough for now. When the question of food came up again, he nodded and motioned out the door.
“Come on. It’s downstairs.” Levi’s question made him laugh, though. “Well, the blood of my enemies and the flesh of the damned, of course.” His sarcastic quip came with a smirk, shutting the door behind them as they headed down to the kitchen. It was a grand affair with chefs moving around the room and servants preparing meals for all of the staff. As they walked in, one servant approached him with bright eyes and silent lips. “Get him whatever he wants. Within reason.” That was a warning to both slaves. He patted Levi on the shoulder and moved around the huge island to pluck a fresh roll off of a dough plate. He leaned against the cabinets to watch for what he would choose to eat.

it had been days since he saw elliot last ( or so he assumed ), maybe longer he couldn’t be sure. and during their last meeting things had definitely went down. not in a bad way though, but he was practically saying goodbye to the half-wolf. preparing to never see him again, or not for a very long time. though when he was out running an errand for kohl, he could have swore he saw the other male. levi looked down at the folded piece of paper in his hand he was told to hand the merchant at one of the vendors in the town square, he clenched it and moved through the people before finally reaching the cloaked individual and reaching out for his shoulder. “elliot?” he was still here. “i thought you said you were leaving?” it had definitely been longer than a week.

Kohl had intended to let him explore on his own, a thought of business brewing in his mind but when his hand was grasped and pulled, he found himself willing to be dragged up the stairs. He wasn’t sure what this shift was between them. He didn’t mind it yet but he was sure that an attitude would have to catch up. The room had been the Royal’s estranged wife’s but Kohl had cleaned it up. When the door opened, it revealed a four-postered bed, slightly smaller than the one at the other home, complete with a bedroom suite of drawers, nightstands, and a fireplace in the corner. It was far too nice for a pet but Kohl wanted to keep Levi close.
He motioned to the drawers. “Eventually, you’ll have to buy some clothes to fill them but this is the bare essentials. You can do whatever you want to the room.” I don’t really care. It was an implied statement, watching Levi as he looked into the room. It was huge and gorgeous. Any pet would have been lucky to get one. Maybe Levi would even feel lucky some day. It had been a blow to Kohl’s ego when he’d heard that. Instead of reacting in anger, he wanted to try a new approach. It seemed to be working.
maybe levi was foolish to think something had changed between them, that there was a newfound understanding and patience between the pair but he was going to try. with kohl being not as infuriating as he usually was, he could stand to be around the kitsune. levi’s face was full of awe, and shock. he couldn’t believe this was his room. he really couldn’t believe this was his room. “this isn’t a joke, right? this is really mine?” levi turned to kohl after a minute, asking for clarification until the other said he could do whatever he wanted to the room - he smiled lightly as he looked over the interior again. the walls were white canvas, literally. he’d use that to his advantage. “i don’t have money to buy clothes.” he grumbled, walking further into his room.
levi dropped down onto the bed, it was far more comfortable than his cot back at the other house and in his cell. levi almost felt the urge to hug kohl the room was so grand, and perfect. almost. they weren’t that close yet, and he felt the affection would throw kohl off or make him throw up. probably both. “thank you, sir.” the human wasn’t looking at kohl though, he was bouncing lightly on the bed and testing it. “can we eat now?” he couldn’t hold in the question anymore. he was fucking hungry. “i know you have to have chefs. what do kitsunes even eat?”

Kohl enjoyed Levi’s reaction to the grandeur of the home. He had bought it from a royal who owed him a fair chunk of change and kicked out his family, keeping the servants of course. It was the only way he could have found such a home in such a short time frame. Levi was dwarfed by the home, standing in its shadow as the sun crept high overhead. He even enjoyed the way he looked around the grounds because there was so much to take in. Kohl had begun to approach the doors with him when he heard his demand.
Kohl looked over at the male, slipping a finger through the jewel around his neck and pulling him close. “Don’t push your luck, pet.” He purred, a smirk continuing to play on his lips before opening the door. The foyer was grand, accented with gold and marble and adorned with flags from countries near and far. Each flag denoted a client, a castle he had toppled or rebuilt. A land where he held a stake in the Regency. A grand staircase led upstairs, just beyond that stood a huge door. He pointed and spoke. “That one is mine.” He turned the slave to the right, to a slightly smaller door but still just as grand. “That one is yours.” With that, he patted the pet’s back to send him off.
there was no heat behind kohl’s words when he was pulled close, so there was even a playful little smirk on the human’s face too. he stepped through the threshold and gaped as he took in the surroundings. the way almost everything was accented with gold and what he thought was marble. he wouldn’t know, he’s never seen such a luxurious home before. his eyes traveled up the large stair case where he saw a large set of doors, he quirked a brow. he wondered how ridiculously grand his room was here. if anything, it was probably filled with even nicer things if that was possible. he glanced at the door to the right, grinning a bit before he began climbing the steps. “you come too, sir.” he called out to kohl, catching the others hand in his as he headed off for the door. the sir came out more naturally, less forced sounding than it usually did. soon enough the pair of them were just outside of his door, and he twisted the knob to open it to see what was hidden behind.

he wasn’t sure he would be proud to wear the man’s symbol of possession and ownership so soon, but he wouldn’t rule that out as not being a possibility. there was a submissive side to him that had been hidden beneath his rage, only kohl had brought it out during his punishment not too long ago. “what things?” he snorted, reaching up to touch the collar gently after it was replaced around his neck. either way, levi left to do as he was told and before he knew it they were on the road. the human was thankful for a change of scenery, he was thrilled to get out of that hellhole. outside the home looked much nicer than the other one, clearly well taken care of. “a huge upgrade.” he allowed the kitsune to help him down even if he didn’t really need it. “you mean to tell me you had this place the whole damn time? it’s like a palace!” What the fuck was kohl keeping him in such a crappy place for so long? levi huffed and headed up to the front entrance. “i want to see my room.” levi practically demanded.
levixcollins:
levi gave the kitsune a look when he said he’d only have rocks to entertain himself with. he hoped this one was furnished differently, either way he knew that was a lie. “not true. i will have my sketchbook. you promise that you’re giving me one, right? you need to promise.” the human urged, he was in a better mood. levi was still cautious though, his guard was still up. he knew how unpredictable kohl could be. because this moment they were having now was very unpredictable. levi let the other take the collar from him, watching the way it flowed in the light of the fire. turning slightly, he faced kohl a bit more after he spoke. “i’m not the whole problem.” levi said carefully. “don’t make me out to be some miserable unpleasant thing.” levi murmured, he didn’t want to be that person. but did kohl not understand what a hard adjustment this whole life had been for him? on top of that, he already had anger problems that were just amplified around kohl when he was aggressive towards him too. “i want to be good for you,” came his next whispered words. he wasn’t sure where this was coming from, but maybe he was realizing that he didn’t want it to be so hard. he wanted to try. maybe if they didn’t constantly butt heads him and kohl could be…okay around each other.
Kohl hadn’t meant Levi but he wouldn’t be the first to admit that he had problems that needed to be fixed. Upon Levi’s urging, he merely nodded, the smirk still there. “I promise.” It was a simple phrase, one that held very little leverage with the Kitsune but he didn’t mind. He liked the whispered words that followed Levi’s admission of guilt, Kohl’s head tilted slightly to watch him mouth the words. His thumb continued to idly stroke the skin on the small of his back, eyes moving down to find the collar next to his leg. He picked it up as he eyed it and moved to gently replace it back around the pet’s neck.
“And I want you to be proud to wear that collar.” His candor was strange, even on his own tongue. It tasted sweet like rose water but came with a bitter aftertaste. He paused for a moment before patting the slave’s back. “Go.” He began, patting him again. “Go gather your things. We’re going to my home.” Well, the home. Either way, he shooed the pet off to gather what he had from his room and meet him by the door. He didn’t feel like staying here again tonight. He wanted a change of scenery.
—-
After gathering Levi and boarding one of his carriages, they set out for the mansion on the other side of Aeternum. With the derelict home disappearing behind them, he settled into the carriage, watching Levi when he could but focusing on the scenery as it passed. When they neared the home, he began to smirk again. It was a much prettier home and he was happier to be there. The other mansion was irritating to him. As they neared it and the carriage came to a stop, he stepped from the carriage and helped Levi out. “Quite an upgrade, hmm?” He questioned, staring up at the castle-like mansion.

levixcollins:
it surprised him to hear about kohl’s family ( who wasn’t present apparently ) but didn’t at the same time. kohl was cold, and that very well could be the cause of it all. the bloodline thing confused the human, and overall he just thought it was ridiculous. “really?” levi lit up, and the excitement was evident in his voice - he was looking forward to drawing again, he missed it. but he was surprised that kohl agreed to get him one so easily after all of the drama that had just went down, and went down since the kitsune bought him. “you’re moving me to the main house? do i get a real room?” he was starting to relax as the others hands continued to press into his skin, relieving the soreness of his muscles. levi didn’t think he learned much, but he kept that thought to himself. he reached for the collar, and played with the small charm on the front before handing it to kohl over his shoulder. “i like this part of you.” he voiced, and it was true. he felt more at ease around kohl in this moment.
Kohl watched him move through the emotions, even lighting up when he mentioned getting him the drawing pad. Something stirred in his chest when he saw the boy smile. He couldn’t place it but it felt… good? He wasn’t sure. It felt like he had indigestion but he couldn’t place it. When he asked about the home, He nodded. “Yes. You’ll get your own room. I have one near mine that I’ve set up. You’ll still only have rocks to entertain yourself with.” He said, smirking as he did so. His smile crept across his words but he didn’t draw attention to it.
Kohl’s eyes followed the collar moving over the boy’s shoulder, taking it and laying it on his lap. The way that the jade glowed in the firelight mesmerized him, it was one of the reasons that he had it made for his collar and cock ring. At Levi’s comment, a heat spread through Kohl’s chest. It was another flush of being vaguely uncomfortable but also a sense of pride filtered through him. Maybe it was his ego swelling. “I can’t promise that it will always be like this but some changes need to be made.”

“Kitsunes do not have family units.” He began explaining, eyes glazing over as he thought. “I have a creator, who guided me in my fledgling years. When a young kitsune goes off on its own, you don’t keep in touch with your creator. We don’t have parents or siblings. But we do have a bloodline and there is an understanding among Kitsune that you do not disrespect your bloodline or others within the bloodline take care of it.” He’d never had to deal with his parents not wanting him. No Kitsune’s creator did and he thought nothing of it. He didn’t require love as a fledgling and it hadn’t impacted him.
“Then I will get you one.” Kohl had reached a point where he would rather his pet be happy than being so disobedient. If that meant a little extra work on his end, so be it. Kohl watched him as he turned to look over his shoulder, his hands stopping for a breath before resuming. Surprisingly, there was no desire in his hands, just a want to relax the pet. But it seemed as though his touch wasn’t working very well. “We will move to the main house tomorrow. I would say that you’ve learned all your going to learn here.” His voice was vague but simple. He was tired of coming here to this derelict home; he missed his marble.

Kohl could feel him tensing beneath his touch. He didn’t expect anything less. He had hurt him in the past and the pet would have been dumb to trust him so easily. Kohl knew that and didn’t hold it against the young boy. He listened to him talk about his past. Humans lived so differently than he ever did. Maybe they weren’t so different but Kohl needed to be told the similarities. He was too far removed from mundane life to ever understand it. He even listened to the pet talk about his brother, reminded of the day he rented Vincent. His mannerisms spoke to the life that Levi alluded to. Kohl nodded silently at the mention, noting the tightness in Levi’s voice when he spoke about the dog.
“I’m curious, pet. I thought you knew everything about Kitsunes.” Kohl teased lightly, continuing to watch his thumbs move on the pet’s lower back, moving in soft circles around his waist. “Humans live so differently than my kind. Their family relations and households are completely foreign to me.” He mused for a moment, taking a breath to think before speaking again. “I have never seen your art. You’ve mentioned it before. I would like to see it sometime.” He thought back to Levi’s demands from earlier, a smirk settling on his lips. “Would a drawing pad make you less miserable here?” He questioned, the smirk ever present as he did.
“not nearly as much as i thought i did,” in actuality levi knew nothing, really. he wasn’t an expert on kitsunes. he knew more about werewolves and vampires - because they were more common around the village he and vincent resided in. the human almost let go completely and enjoyed the massage fully, until he lowered his hands down to his waist. that left him tensing up again. “kitsunes don’t have a good family bond?” now that he thought about it - kohl had never mentioned his family. ever. not that they often spoke like this but he’d at least thought it would have came up once or twice before. “my family was just my brother and dog,” he murmured. “most families have a mom and a dad too - they didn’t want me though.” they had him, and couldn’t feed or afford him. levi didn’t lose sleep over it as much anymore but it still hurt to think about.
“vincent always encouraged my art, i didn’t think i was good until other people started to compliment me.” of course an artist would always feel less than what others thought about his work, but levi was only doing it as a time passer and to keep him out of trouble at first. but it had grown into more than that, it was means of expressing his emotions. “okay,” levi nodded lightly when kohl said he wanted to see his art, he’d need something to draw on first -- just as that thought crossed his mind, kohl was suggesting it. “it’d help.” levi nodded, turning slightly in the others lap to look him over. damn that smirk. he hated it, but kohl was offering him his entertainment. “i miss it, drawing. it’ll help keep me preoccupied.” he explained rather than just demanding the item from kohl.
