my game comparisons
these 2 games finding Bigfoot and the forest is what I got my inspiration for the layout of my game from. I decided to have a dark forest, however I made mine I lot more dense which I regret because I did it too dense making it easy to get lost in. I used a dirt path to show where to go similar to the dirt in finding Bigfoot
for my game I did not have a background sound because my game broke and I never re added the sound in, however if I was going to add sound I would add wind which is also included in the forest

current progress
in my game i ran in to a very big problem something happened and i had to rebuild my level, so i decided to change the level as i already had something made a while ago, so i just used that and added the starting area and made it all bigger. I now think that my game looks a lot better. however I am a little bit behind as I still need to create targets in Maya, build a little bit more of my level and create working a win screen and start screen.
I have already added a crouch a torch a grenade launcher(which got deleted and I am trying to remember how to do it),a HUD with working score system and timer, I also create a bunch of stuff in Maya like doors and walls but I gave up with Maya so I just made a forest as it fit well with my new level design. The main things I am trying to work on is targets as they are just grey circles and the win and lose.
Update - in my game now I have built out the whole level, I just need to add the different screens in photoshop and create targets in Maya.
I also just realized that I need to redo all the sounds

blueprints
in unreal engine blueprints are created by pressing and object then on the right side of the screen press blueprints then create blueprint. from here you can build your game by adding effects such as a dash of double jump or even moveable objects and a bunch of over things.

For my game I created a rough layout for what I want it to look like. I have also lowered the brightness of my game so the torch will be more effective, but not so much that it seems like a horror game.

what maya has been used to create
Maya has been used in a variety of big movies such as Disney movies, lord of the rings, star wars and ice age. However Maya is not just used in movies, it is also used in well known games like call of duty, halo and mirror’s edge. This consistency of widespread games and movies shows that Maya is a good and reliable source for 3d modelling and animation.

photoshop
Photoshop is Adobe’s photo editing, image creation and graphic design software. The software provides many image editing features for raster (pixel-based) images as well as vector graphics. It uses a layer-based editing system that enables image creation and altering with multiple overlays that support transparency.
Photoshop has been one of my favourite pieces of software. Other than having to texture the stuff from Maya in it has been simple and farely easy just very time consuming.

material types
in maya their are material types to put textures onto model some examples are Lambert’s, phong and blinn.
Lambert is a flat material type that yields a smooth look without highlights. It calculates without taking into account surface reflectivity, which gives a matte, chalk-like appearance. Lambert material is ideal for surfaces that don’t have highlights: pottery, chalk, matte paint, and so forth. By default, any newly created object gets the Lambert shader assigned to it. If the object should have highlights, though, it’s a good idea to assign another shader. You’ll want to see highlights even during the modeling stage, to see whether they are breaking across the model

comparison between siege and csgo
in siege the game is a lot more tactical and strategic. although csgo is still fairly strategic siege has elements which make it a lot more than just an aim and shoot game. this includes breakable walls and footsteps. siege also has things like leaning and drones. they're HUDS are very different with csgo having less as it is all really small but siege mainly has it all at the top and bottom, not at the sides this is because it is less likely for players to see enemy at the top and bottom.
in my game I am going to have my hud similar to csgos, I am going to have ammo count in bottom right then a small timer and score at the top.

comparison between apex and pubg
these 2 games only really share 1 big similarity which is the genre of game, they are both battle royale games called Apex and pubg. pubg is set in a more modern environment with cars and real guns, this makes it much more competitive. whereas apex is more futuristic, the developers added features like no falling damage and special abilities. this makes it more of a fun game to play although there is ranked mode for people who do want to play competitively. in both games they have very different movement and HUDS. apex having a more unrealistic feel as you can slide and crawl up walls it also has alot on the HUD. pubg is similar to most FPS games with a crouch, jump and prone. it also has alot less on the HUD to make it more realistic.
for my game I am not going to have any similarities with apex or pubs

comparison between call of duty and battlefield
these are to 2 very well known FPS games call of duty and battlefield. i am comparing them because they are very similar games, however the call of duty franchise is much more popular, this could be because call of duty is much more action packed with smaller maps and in recent games more players in the games. whereas battlefield is alot more realistic with bigger maps and interactable vehicles such as jets and tanks. they both share very similar HUDS with the ammo count in the bottom right and a mini map in the corners of the left side of the screen, this is so that it is out of the way of the players view. Although they are very similar the game play is very different with call of duty being alot easier to controller and in most games basically no recoil on the guns, this makes the game much more fun to play.

PLAY TESTS
from my play tests i found out that my game was way to difficult and easy to get lost. it was kind of a bad idea to do play test when i only have a day to finish my game, but the changes i need to do wont be very difficult to do. i just need to do less trees and make it less dark. In the future i will do my play tests a bit earlier so that i have time to make changes and make my gamer better.
