Eowyn/Faramir was one of the first ships I was truly obsessed with, and am still obsessed with. Faramir has lived the past year of his life in the shadow of the Nazgul, burdened by grief, fighting a desperate war that knows he's going to lose, hating that he has to fight at all but still doing it to protect his men (many of whom will die anyway), to obey his father (who doesn't love him), to defend his city (which is probably doomed.) He bears up heroically under his burden, he doesn't have illusions, he tolerates hopelessness so well that he's not even tempted by the ring: if no actions can avert the inevitable destruction, he might as well act righteously. He holds up under the burden, and he holds others upright as well, but it's sickening him, and the sickening dread that he fights every day has a voice and shape, black wings in the sky.

And then Eowyn shows up having killed one of those.

When I was a kid, I didn't know trans men existed. I thought that nobody actually likes being a girl, that's just something that unfortunately happens to you, and you just gotta suck it up and pretend to be happy about it. Something vaguely about how it'd be shameful to admit you'd rather be a man because that's not The Feminist Stance, you just gotta grit your teeth and endure that shit and insist that you prefer it that way.

When I first learned that female-to-male transitioning even exists at all, my first thought was to wonder "why hasn't every woman done this?" How has this been kept secret so well that all women haven't flocked to transitioning if that's a thing you can do?

It was only over years that it actually sunk in that yeah no, women really do just want to be women, like genuinely. For the first 12 or 13 years of my life I wasn't aware that trans men exist, but in a more vague and unaware sense, I did not believe that cis women exist.

The problem with being married to someone super fit is that you just can’t be physically coercive in the cute ways you want to. This morning, I was trying to convince B to sleep in and cuddle and instead of being deterred by the fact that I was entirely wrapped around his torso, he just…got out of bed with me clinging to him and went about his business picking clothes in the closet and putting on pants and doing his skincare in the bathroom with me just there along for the ride. And when he finally tickled me into letting go so he could finish getting dressed, I was so completely awake from laughing so hard that I didn’t get to sleep in either. An outrage.

I have a dream TV series. It is called NYPD, and is about New York Public Defenders. It follows public defenders as they try to keep the police from fucking over their clients.

NYPD won't loan us uniforms? That's ok. All the cops show up to trial in shitty costume uniforms, looking like an unmade bed. There's numerous rights violations every episode, the audience is introduced to the clients with barely 10 minutes to hear their side of the story and have the police report summarized, the whole "public defenders are extremely overworked and fighting for your rights" angle.

Really use the "In a lion documentary, I root for the lion; in a gazelle documentary, I root for the gazelle."

Dream guest star would be Ice-T or Christopher Meloni. Not TECHNICALLY playing their SVU characters, bit definitely playing shitty cops. Meloni should have beaten the shit out of a suspect. If he could be a recurring character? Once a season, slowly getting promoted, despite being shown again and again to be a shitty cop? Excellent.
