So I'm not a manga reader, and this is not even a spoiler for the anime but...One For All definitely gave Nezu his quirk right?

Holy shit
every time someone talks about how “capitalism breeds innovation”, i think about the fact that capitalism killed the streaming service in less than ten years

Do y'all ever think about why Tenzin really broke up with Lin? Pema would tell you it's because she confessed to him but is that really true?
Let's work backwards. Jinora was born 12 years before the LoK Vol 1. Say Tenzin & Pema got married 2 yr before and dated for 3. So Pema "stole" him from Lin 17 years before LoK. The year Korra was born. The year Aang died. Even if it wasn't exact it was very soon after, at least before anyone knew who Korra was.
Why is this important? Well after Aang died, Tenzin was literally the last airbender. He had the entire culture on his shoulders, and we know Aang probably emphasized the significance of that his entire life. Aangs death (like the death of most people's parents) was a wake up call to his own mortality. It told him "I need to have some kids FAST. And they had better be airbenders."
Now, he was dating Lin, right? Why not marry her and start having kids? Two reasons: first, she had a bad mother in Toph and probably wasn't thrilled about having kids. Remember Tenzin said "we had different goals in life"? And second, and most important, think about what happened to Aang. He married a very powerful bender from a different nation (Katara) and was he blessed with all the airbending children he wanted? No, he got a nonbender and a water bender first. Think about his terror during those few years that there would bever be another airbender, all because he had fallen in love with another bender from a different nation.
Tenzin felt he didn't have the luxury to repeat his dad's mistake. So he broke things off with Lin - a powerful metal bender who didn't want kids - and started dating Pema, a nonbender who wanted a lot of kids, all so that he could better repopulate the air nation.

So I have a headcanon that Verosika is a bit like Helga from Hey Arnold in that she hates Blitzo in public but secretly adores him and has a shrine and everything…

Woooow and then it's a movie all about the emotional trauma of abandoment ruining relationships and not about it turning you evil? Jesus CN kind of screwed us.
So it was revealed in a recent QnA that in early drafts of the SU movie there was going to be more Connie to have a healthy friendship contrast Spinels unhealthy attachment and it got me like 👁👄👁 I HAD to draw something for it– multiple things.
Here is the QnA if you’re interested!
In case anyone was wondering, this was an idea Rebecca really wanted to explore for the movie, but the Network pushed the idea of the injector to raise the stakes and have the world almost end instead. It certainly would have been really different if this was its focus! It’s interesting to think about. I love the movie as is, but I, personally, would have loved more Connie too.

One of my favorite parts of the Hunger Games was how, in the beginning, Katniss was jealous amd resentful of the townies for not having to work in the coal mines. Then, over time, she realizes they aren't the true enemy. Then she sees the other district kids as so much better off than she is, because at least they don't come from district 12. But then she realizes they aren't the enemy either. And then she hates the other victors, before realizing they have all been exploited just as much as she has. So the enemy must be the Capitol citizens, who benefit from the exploitation of the districts, right? Wrong again. They are just uninformed and pampered people who have been kept in the dark about the true horrors faced by the rest of the country. Most of them, when push comes to shove, are perfectly willing to help the war efforts.
And slowly, over the three books, all theses separate factions of downtrodden people start to see each other as allies instead of enemies, and that is what propells them to eventual victory over the true enemy, the government that tried to pit them against each other. Just fun, totally fictional things to think about that have nothing whatsoever to do with our current life.

also with all due respect the main reason the left loses so much is that y’all refuse to compromise on the language and messaging you use to speak to voters. i swear if you rebranded “defund the police” as “invest in community safety from the ground up” most white suburban moderates would be like “that sounds great” and i know that because that’s how i’ve literally reframed it to white suburban moderates who think “defund the police” means we’re going to live in a scary lawless mad max world
