platidawn‌:
Dawn rolled her eyes as she sat back down behind Lucas, watching as he went and looked over the White Rock.
Tumblr media
“If Professor Oak already knew how to solve this mystery, surely he would’ve done it already? What’s the point in waiting for him to come back?”
She had met up with the Professor only once. He had been discussing something with Professor Rowan when she arrived. Besides some polite greetings and comments about her progress on her Pokedex, there wasn’t anything really special in the meeting.
So why had he asked her to come here? Lucas was an obvious choice…he was the assistant to one of his colleagues. Surely there wasn’t anything special she could contribute…it’s not like she’s done much anyways.
This was dumb.
Dawn stood next to Lucas in front of the rock and ran her fingers down it’s smooth surface.
Tumblr media
“….We sure did go through a lot.”
And there went Dawn, poking holes into Lucas’ suggestion that they wait for Oak.  She was probably right, but he wanted to believe that perhaps the professor knew something, anything, that they didn’t or hadn’t thought about just yet.  His only response was to grumble a little under his breath, whining in general frustration at the matter at had.  He was starting to get really sick of this mysterious white rock.
“I know, I know...” Lucas responded. “Maybe we just need a fresh pair of eyes on this thing.  All I know is that whatever is going on with this rock, we’re just not getting...”
Lucas exhaled and shut his notebook.  He was getting nowhere with his notes, so it was no use keeping that around until he had anything of actual substance to write down.  Dawn stood up behind him and approached to reexamine the rock herself.  He stared the rock down all the same.
“…We sure did go through a lot.”
He hardly even registered Dawn’s words at first.  Lucas shook his head out of that rock-induced trance.  “Huh?  Oh, yeah, we did... well, you more than me.  You’re the hero and all.”  He chuckled softly.  “It is sort of amazing-- all those crazy things that happened, you know?  I always wonder about that stuff.  Why did it happen then?  Why did Cyrus choose that year to go ahead and try and take over the universe or.. whatever he was trying to do?  Huh.  I guess it’s amazing that whatever decides stuff like that chose you and Barry and... me, sort of.”

It was a beautiful day outside.  Lucas walked briskly through the tiny villa that settled right between Sunyshore and Pastoria.  He had places to be, Pokemon to observe.  For now, his eyes were set wholly on Lake Valor.  There were plenty of intriguing, rare Pokemon to be found in the area according to some locals, and he had to find out just what was out there-- well, aside from Azelf, the Legendary Pokemon of the lake.  He’d never be so bold as to try and meet it, though.  It had gone through enough thanks to humans already.
Jen followed alongside Lucas, matching his pace as they approached the lakeside.  The lake was incredibly quiet, a place of pure serenity.  For all that these lakes had gone through, they were just as pristine as ever.  Lake Verity was his go-to spot to relax and think when he was in Sandgem, and Lake Valor seemed just as perfect a place as Verity.  He hummed quietly to himself, lost in thought.
Suddenly, Jen froze in her spot.  Lucas, noticing this, followed suit.  Lucas glanced over to his Pokemon.  Her teeth were bared, sharp white fangs peeking out from her lips.  He bristled and turned his eyes to where Jen was looking.  His stomach dropped.  No.  He shouldn’t be here.  He shouldn’t have been able to get here.  Dawn said he was gone for good, so how...?  How had he come here...?
Though Lucas had never encountered him in person before, he knew exactly who this was.
Cyrus.
The man behind Team Galactic.  The man who almost corrupted the very universe itself.  It was only because of Dawn that he didn’t succeed.  Now, he was here at Lake Valor, as if nothing had ever changed.  And if he was here at the lake, then...
...he wasn’t trying anything with the Lake Guardian again, was he?
Lucas’ first instinct was to run, but he was frozen in place.  His knees trembled, his feet planted unsteadily on the grass.  He needed to call the professor, or Dawn, or Barry, or someone who could help.  Jen was clearly ready for a fight.  She snarled loudly.  No, no--!  He couldn’t know Lucas was here--
Too late for that now.  Lucas reflexively withdrew Jen and placed her back in the safety of her Pokeball.  He took a deep breath to calm himself.  He had to think of something before it was too late.  Say something, anything...
“Excuse me,” Lucas said quietly. “What are you doing here?”

☆ ・‥…  Through the orange tinted world, Barry surveys the land looking for the long necked exeggutor he heard so much about. He even scurries over to the nearest palm tree to tap on the trunk, only to slink back to Lucas’s side when it turns out to be nothing but an ordinary alolan tree. What a let down!
“Huh? Of course I’m sure! What do you mean they don’t have one around here, it’s the biggest city in Alola! I’ll have to fine the town double for not having one!” Barry plucks the brochure from Lucas and scans the entire thing in two seconds while muttering ‘malasalads… malasalads’. Yup! Brochures sure do have a lot of words on them with confusing directories. He does point at a white building, looking all important and science-y and nudges Lucas. “Isn’t that where your professor dream boat supposed to be at? Maybe he can help us.”
He pauses. “After we drop off our things, I’m dying to explore without these crutches. Come on come on, we’re wasting daylight!” To Barry’s credit, he does try to pace out his walking, waiting for Lucas to catch up with each stride and eventually the cities’ humble looking motel comes in sight. “You know, we could rent those baby carts and I can tow you around. The Barry Express! How does that sound, Luk?”
Tumblr media
“I call the window bed!” He declares first thing and tosses his belongings on the bed for extra claim-age. Without missing a beat, he reaches for the remote and starts to flicker through channels looking for something interesting to watch. “You should really change into something more weather appropriate. Wouldn’t want you to faint halfway through the city, though it’d make a funny story.”
A channel about Alolan food grabs his attention and sure enough, they were advertising a new flavor of malasadas! The pronunciation throws him for a loop, but overall Barry is too busy salivating to really care.
Barry snatched the map from Lucas’ hands as he looked over the confusing and detailed city map himself.  He wasn’t having much luck either, it seemed...  That was a little vindicating, truth be told.  What his friend did notice, however, was the location that was marked as a Pokemon lab.  So Professor Kukui lived very, very close to Hau’oli-- and close to their hotel, too!  How exciting.  Not as exciting was Barry’s insistence that the two go and bother the professor for something as stupid and unimportant as malasadas.
Lucas hardly had time to object before Barry suggested that they go to the hotel first, speeding off without a second thought.  Every once in a while, Lucas would catch up, but his friend was just too fast.  Still, Lucas tried to shout his objections while they rushed off to their hotel as he said, “Barry, we are not bothering Professor Kukui for something silly like that!  Professors are busy people.  We shouldn’t waste his time...  I feel bad even wanting to meet him just to talk about research, let alone trying to find out where a malasalad place is-- can you please slow down a little?”
“You know, we could rent those baby carts and I can tow you around...” Barry said.
Lucas huffed and rolled his eyes as he attempted to pick up the pace.  “I really don’t think I need it, thanks.  I feel like we’d get into way many accidents with you running around all wild anyways.  I don’t think we could afford all the fines.”
The room they rented was, at the very least, cooler than the Alolan air outside.  Lucas heaved a sigh of relief as they entered, setting his things on the floor while Barry laid claimed to a bed.  His friend turned on the TV and rapidly flipped through the channels before suggesting that Lucas change.  Barry was right.  Long sleeve shirts and long pants really weren’t the right choice for a region like this.  He’d packed some more weather-appropriate attire, luckily, so he wasn’t condemned to suffering forever.
“Yeah... it’s way too hot for what I’m wearing,” Lucas agreed with a nervous laugh. “But... hey, we’re not sticking around here for too long, all right?  We should get out and see things!  You said you wanted to eat, right?  So get ready while I change.”
Lucas sifted through his suitcase for the right clothes.  He wandered off to the bathroom to change.  Gosh, he looked so silly in a tank and shorts.  No one ever dressed like that in Sinnoh... but hey, when in Alola.  Putting his warmer clothes into the suitcase, he said to Barry, “Are you ready to go?  Do you still wanna get malasalads?”
what the beaches! 🌞

💋 - How does your muse feel about people who cheat? Do they see a reason for it, or is it completely immoral?
Send a symbol and I’ll answer the question about my muse.
( No!  Lucas is a good boy, he would never condone adultery.  I’m trying to think of a good reason one might cheat, but I can’t really think of one that isn’t absurd on some level.  Lucas does not approve of these people.  He won’t say anything but he’ll judge you forever if he hears about it.
...it also never occurred to me that this might mean like, cheating on a test or something.  Which he also does not condone.  O god )

Lucas sighed in frustration as he knelt down before the large white rock.  It sat proudly on the end of Route 224, an enigmatic piece of Sinnoh’s history that Lucas had yet to understand.  What did it mean?  What did this rock have to do with the legends of Sinnoh?  Did Professor Oak really think that he and Dawn could solve this centuries-long conundrum?
Regardless of whether he could or not, Lucas sure as hell was going to try.  Kanto’s professor was counting on him to figure it out!  But really, he had no idea how to figure out what this rock did.  It was just a rock, wasn’t it?  Lucas wondered what secrets such an innocuous object could hold.  Clearly, Oak believed that it held some great significance.  Though he’d never tell the professor this, he was starting to have his doubts about it being special.
Maybe he just wasn’t looking hard enough.  He’d looked at it from every single possible angle to no avail, but surely, he was missing something obvious.  Dawn was examining the rock as well with a similar lack of understanding.  He was grateful for her help, even if they were making no progress.  Another set of eyes was always useful for a situation like this one.  They could figure this out together, he could just feel it.
Lucas frowned as Dawn pointed out his obsessive observation of the rock.  Maybe she was right, but... no, this was the only way.  “You don’t know that,” Lucas replied.  “And besides, it’s not like we’ve figured anything out about it, huh?  This is all we’ve got to go off of.  Like... we’re clearly missing something here!  We just have to keep looking until we find it.”
He felt Dawn come up behind him and peer over his shoulder.  All Lucas had to show for the time they’d spent were sparse notes with few useful observations.  It was a large rock.  It was a white rock.  It had slits for notes, stuffed full of various papers.  Those notes were similarly mysterious, but he knew they couldn’t move them.  It was bad luck.  And if not bad luck, then it was insanely rude.
“I still say we should just carve something into it.”
Lucas gasped in shock.  “No!  Absolutely not!  That-- That’d be absolute sacrilege!  Do you even know how special this rock is?!  Even if we don’t understand it, it obviously meant a lot to people in the past!  We can’t just desecrate a part of Sinnoh’s history like that!”  He took a deep breath and then sighed.  “Maybe we should just wait for Professor Oak to get here...”

The rock was cool and smooth to touch.
Dawn ran her fingers over the delicate engravings that had survived the test of time, before sitting back on the dirt ground that surrounded the Sizeable White Rock. In her hands was the letter that Professor Oak had sent her, and she opened it up to read it over again.
Even someone like Dawn knew who Professor Oak was. The Professor Oak had apparently heard good things about Dawn from Professor Rowan and sent her to meet up with him at the end of Route 224.
All for what? To solve this riddle that has puzzled historians and researchers for years? Who did he think she was? Dawn didn’t really care about stuff like this… Yet she made a promise, and she didn’t intend to disappoint.  Dawn turned her head slightly to look at the rock once more.
Tumblr media
Well…at least he seemed to be having a lot more fun than she was… “You know you’ve looked at that dumb rock all over for the twenty fifth time right? I’m pretty sure staring at it super hard isn’t going to change anything Lucas.”
With a yawn she pushed herself up, before giving a long and good stretch. She walked over back to Lucas’ side and leaned over him as he continued to do his research.
“I still say we should just carve something into it.”

Version Difference | Lucas & Lillie
starter for @gildinglillies !
Lucas shivered in the cold as he wandered through the route just south of Veilstone.  That Sinnoh winter was coming on as strongly as it ever did, even though autumn had just barely rolled into the region a few weeks prior.  The cold never took its time in getting to Sinnoh, and Lucas was beyond used to it by now, but he still appreciated what little summer the region gave him when it came around.
The changing of the seasons meant something more than the beginning of sweater weather, however.  This was about the time of year that Pokemon would begin to change their patterns from the warm summer months in anticipation of the undoubtedly freezing winter to come.  This meant that it was time for Lucas to go out and start collecting more data on the kinds of Pokemon that inhabited Sinnoh.
There was no better time than now to start.  Lucas was not looking forward to trudging through knee-high snow drifts in search of Sinnoh’s Pokemon populations later on.  There was no snow here just yet.  So, just as Lucas had promised Rowan, he was out in the field again to catch more Pokemon.  He had seen many Pokemon, but there wasn’t much on them unless he went out to capture them, too.  Any data would help Rowan, and Lucas most assuredly wanted to please his mentor more than anything.
And so there he was, wandering through the tall grass that sporadically dotted Route 214 in search of Pokemon that he had not captured before.  Lucas knew from his previous experience with the route that he could find Pokemon like Houndour, Kricketune, and even the rare Vulpix there.  There were plenty of Pokemon to fill his Pokedex, just so long as he could find them.
So far, he’d managed to catch only a Houndour on the route.  Most Pokemon didn’t want to come near him.  Was it because of Jen?  She looked tough as nails and had the power to back that up, after all.  Wild Pokemon were good at identifying a strong Pokemon when they saw one.  Maybe he should have brought Bibarel instead...
A little further ahead, Lucas spotted a Pokemon in the grass.  It was a brilliant white and a very diminutive little thing.  It looked like a Vulpix, but without any of the normal fur pigments.  Beside it, there was a young trainer.  So it must be hers, then!  He just had to talk to her and register that strange Pokemon in his Pokedex for Rowan to see.  He’d undoubtedly be interested in the discovery!
Lucas scrambled over to where the trainer and her Pokemon was, trying to make himself look friendly (and not too crazy as to scare her away).  He said, “Excuse me!  Sorry to bother you, but I just noticed your Vulpix there.  It’s really beautiful, and I’ve never seen anything like it.  Is-Is it special?”

spiritshackled‌:
Sinnoh was the one region that possibly held her interest the most. The place was so entrenched in history at every corner, in every city. It was only natural for her to arrive here and hone her research in the legends and the like.
She already had a few choice places in mind ( Canalave City and it’s library was in particular beckoning towards her ) but the statue in Eterna City was one she wanted to see before heading over. Truthfully there was so many places to see that she didn’t quite thought it mattered, so long as she started somewhere. No doubt she would be revisiting these locales when she was armed with more knowledge.
The crisp air was refreshing, a nice change of pace from the warmth of Alola. This was more in tune with Kalos, though perhaps not as cold. Perosnall she preferred the coolness, though the one beside her seemed to have a different opinion. Auriel stuck by her, straightening out some feathers he had ruffled. He was so used the tropical temperatures of his home that this change was jarring, but one he could adapt to with time. Especially with the forest not too far away, where he would truly be back in his element.
Ziarae’s and Auriel’s progress was soon halted by someone calling out, and turning around she saw a young man doing his best to catch up with them. Listening to his request, she nodded. She saw no reason to deny him; she had no rush to get to Eterna and his polite tone only assisted him. Her gaze shifted to her Decidueye, who was watching Lucas carefully, a hint of wariness in his eyes but otherwise calm. ❝ Oh, certainly. I don’t imagine there’s many Decidueyes in Sinnoh. ❞ She gave him a warm smile before continuing. ❝ I would love to help a fellow researcher. Ask away. ❞
Lucas smiled with visible relief at the woman’s agreement to help him.  He couldn’t have been more happy to catch such a helpful trainer.  He had never seen a Decidueye in real life before, so this was really important!  This was data that would undoubtedly help bolster his Pokedex-- and would hopefully impress the professor, too.  He’d be surprised that someone would bring such a rare Pokemon like that to Sinnoh.  He’d try and learn all he could from the stranger without being too overbearing.  He knew she had places to be, but he just couldn’t resist asking.
Besides, she said she was a “fellow researcher”!  That means that she understood why he had to do this better than other trainers he could have asked!  Now, all Lucas had to do was figure out what he wanted to ask her.  Decidueyes were so rare, so he had to pick carefully and not waste anyone’s time.
“Thank you!  I really appreciate it.  I’ve never even seen a Decidueye before,” Lucas said in a bright tone, reinvigorated by her friendliness. “It’s such an interesting Pokemon... what’s his type?  I’m going to guess... Grass and Flying?  Ooh, and what’s his temperament like?  What kind of moves might he use?  Do you know what his pre-evolutions were?”
Lucas paused to catch his breath, suddenly realizing just how much he’d been talking.  He was really getting ahead of himself-- and probably confusing her and her Pokemon, too.  His face flushed a tad at the realization and he set himself on a course to correct himself as quickly as possible.
“Sorry!  I think I was getting a little ahead there.  Um.  Yeah, so, what’s your Decidueye like, generally?  His temperament, behaviors, you know, things like that?  He seems pretty majestic...”  Lucas rummaged through his bag to find his Pokedex.  He booted it up and scanned the Decidueye before him.  Since he hadn’t caught it, it couldn’t tell him much, but it was a start to at least have it registered.  Every little bit would help, after all.
From then on, Lucas was ready to take mental notes of everything the stranger said.  And wait-- stranger!  He was being so impolite that he hadn’t even introduced himself to her.  “Oh-- and,” Lucas added quickly, “my name is Lucas by the way.  I’m working on behalf of Professor Rowan.  Thank you for your help again!  It really helps us out.”

Things We Lost in the Fire;; Alibi
Lucas stared down the rubble that once was his friend’s apartment complex with dull and reddened eyes.  Tears had long since dried on his face.  It... didn’t make sense.  It just didn’t.  What had Barry ever done to deserve this?  The worst thing about him was being a little too overzealous about things he was passionate about, but that was hardly worth being killed so brutally like he had.
His friend.  Dead and gone.  And Lucas could never give him a proper goodbye now.  If he’d known how short their time was left, he could have appreciated it more.  But he hadn’t.  That could never be corrected.  He couldn’t have known, but that feeling of self-hatred still set in.  He could have been a better friend.  He could have, he would have...  he should have.
Lucas’ stomach churned at the sight.  There was nothing to be gained this.  He wasn’t in the mood to speculate like the rest of the people around here.  This was different.  He hadn’t known that woman who died at first, though he felt sorry for her.  Barry was his friend.  This wasn’t a stranger to the town.  The mafia were mocking them, that much was clear.  They knew the grip they had on the area.  Nobody could figure out who or what was going on.
It was nauseating to think about how the mafia continued to taunt everyone;  that card left by Barry chastising him for not protecting himself was proof enough.  That certainly didn’t make Lucas feel any better at the situation.  Who had his friend been trying to protect...?  Was he somehow aware of the fate that would soon befall him?
No, he couldn’t have.  But Lucas didn’t know what would be worse, if Barry had been expecting this or if this had come randomly and without reason.  No matter the case, he didn’t deserve it.  Barry had never hurt anyone in his life.  And now, with everyone speculating so heavily, Lucas started to feel some stares directed at him.
People knew that he and Barry were friends.  If they hadn’t before, they certainly knew when Lucas broke down at the scene.  Did they really suspect him?  Why, because they’d been such good friends?  That’d be enough reason not to suspect him in Lucas’ opinion.  He understood the logic, but it hurt.  It really fucking hurt.  He’d lost enough.  He didn’t need to be accused of killing his friend, too.
It was time for his alibi, huh?  Lucas knew that today, more than ever, that he had to prove himself.  “It wasn’t me,” Lucas started blandly, tone devoid of much feeling. “Barry and I were best friends.  I loved him so much.  I could never kill anyone.  So... I’ve been working on some research with Professor Rowan.  He got back to town this week so I was with him all night so we could catch up.  I slept at the lab.”
Lucas exhaled heavily, hugging himself closely.  Whoever had done this...  whatever had to be done...  he wanted them to be found.  They had to meet justice somehow.

Quentin had been watching the scene unfold for a while. He wasn’t the first to show up at the crime scene, but he had taken note of everyone who was there. He could tell based on the looks and comments people were making, they expected him to pull out some fancy gadget that would identify the killer based on some arbitrary evidence. How he wished such device existed. Despite this, he remained silent, examine the crime scene from afar and running through scenarios in his head.
Quentin stayed silent as more people kept showing up. The old adage of “returning to the scene of the crime” came to mind, but he quickly shook it away. He wasn’t going to accuse anyone based on suspicion alone. He spoke up suddenly when people began giving their alibis.
“I was in Reflection Cave until a few hours ago. I was trying to figure out how such crystals like that could’ve formed. If you don’t believe me, ask Fermata. He was by my side the entire time.” Quentin said, gesturing towards his silent Lucario. He waited a few moments before speaking up again.
“I’m not CSI so I can’t say can’t guarantee answers. However, I have some ideas.” He paused, trying to find the best way to phrase everything and hoping people would understand his thought process. “She was beaten to death, that’s obvious. The thing that stands out to me is her staff. I don’t know what it was made out of, but it must not be easy to break. Whoever hit the victim with it must be strong enough to shatter it.” Quentin looked around the group, making mental notes of those he believed were the strongest physically. “At the risk of judging by appearances, I think that narrows it down some.” He paused again, letting his explanation sink in. He waited another moment and slipped his hands into his pocket before starting his second theory.
“Alternatively…She could have used her staff as a weapon to try and fight off the one who attacked her. In that case, she swung it hard enough to shatter against someone’s body. That would leave a mark. I believe we should look for the stronger ones here or the ones with fresh bruises.”
Moros didn’t miss the look Green gave him. Sure there were others included in his significant glance, but it was clear that someone like him—quiet, ‘mysterious’, there one moment and gone the next—was an obvious target for blame in this situation.
As much as Moros hated drawing attention to himself, if he wanted to prove his innocence he was going to have to speak up. The scientist’s analysis made sense. Clearly someone around here was thinking rationally instead of just calling for blood. Still, the way he presented the facts wasn’t entirely accurate, and Moros felt a creeping suspicion as Quentin overlooked an important detail.
“Or maybe the killer had a Pokémon strong enough to break the staff.” He looked over the Lucario at Quentin’s side with narrowed eyes. He disliked fighting-types, it was true, but no one could deny their strength. A Pokémon like that was more than capable of doing the deed if they were well-trained or loyal enough to their trainer. “It’d divert attention toward the stronger people, and save themselves from getting their own hands dirty.”
Did people appreciate the looks he gave them, and the attention it invited on them? Didn’t matter, and any looks given back Green’s way were acknowledged, if dismissively. He was listening to the tempers it heated up, both the accusations and the fact a murder took place.
“Gonna use a pokémon? Then you’ve gotta bigger pool to worry about than just who’s murdering by their own hands.” Or the victim’s own property, but what could he—most of them—tell about this crime scene, exactly? He wasn’t Mister CSI, and he didn’t expect science boy to be able to wipe out a crime kit from his back pocket. But hey, good call on the nerd kid being, well, an actual nerd. Some people just can’t hide who they are.
His arms unfold, but the hands go straight into his pockets in a restless motion. Arceus, he did not plan to stand around today at a murder scene, doing this.
“Say a pokémon used the staff, that’s a pretty good distraction,” he goes along with, if with a pinch of le obnoxious to his voice, to flavour things up,  “but if you’ve got a pokémon who can do that, what’s stopping a lucario from just doing the job itself? Even a casual fighting-type like that can do worse with its fists, and quicker, if they’re gonna murder someone.”
No, he hadn’t missed where Moros’s focus went to with that theory, and Green’s own was now on the white-haired guy in particular; eyes flicking over his shoulders, muscular and athletic, in the least subtle manner.
“Nice arms.” And with that, he looks to the rest, though looking back to Nerd Boy Q. “So, fresh bruises, and defensive wounds?” He shrugs. “I don’t mind being looked at. Applicable pokémon, humans, and an alibi with someone who can vouch for you—that isn’t just your own pokémon. Sound fine with everyone else?”
Lucas flinched at the discussion of the murder.  This was brutal.  How could people stand to talk about who had murdered this girl already?  He knew it was necessary, but...  he can and would be uncomfortable with it.  He hadn’t known what to say at all when the backhanded implications and alibis started.  He knew he hadn’t done it, but he was almost worried about people not believing him if he mentioned his alibi.  But he really didn’t look like the type to be able to kill someone in cold blood, did he...?
Jen wouldn’t kill anyone on his behalf either, though the thought of this being a Pokemon’s work was just as startling as the murder itself.  Who could have trained their Pokemon to do such a thing?  Whoever had done this, or ordered it, was truly evil... not that Lucas didn’t already think that, considering that this was a murder scene.
The young man who had started this discussion of murder details then suggested a clear course of action: looking over each person and their Pokemon if they could have done the murder.  As frightened as Lucas was, he knew that this was likely the best way to figure things out.  The person who didn’t want to be looked at would be the bad guy!  Right...?  So Lucas was finally ready to speak up.  People would start actually considering him if he hadn’t, after all.
“I-I think that’s a good idea!” Lucas chimed in anxiously. “I mean, if you’re not guilty, you’ll be fine with being looked at, so... I think we should do that.  I’m okay with people checking me if it helps.  I have an Infernape too, if you want to check her...”
Lucas knew they’d want to check out Jen, so there was no use in not having her checked out, too.  “Oh, and...  I was busy working on a paper I’ve been writing with Professor Rowan.  I didn’t leave my house last night.”
But who could have been the killer here...?  The young man who started this whole thing almost seemed suspicious.  He started out by making heavy implications that somebody among them had truly done it.  But maybe he was just trying to right this wrong.
Who knows.  Lucas certainly didn’t and maybe that’s what was so terrifying about this.
