Twyla is an established makeup artist and costume designer in Los Angeles who works in a niche of cosplayers, drag queens, and other performers. Though she has spent the last five years working in Hollywood, she was born and raised in a trailer park in the outskirts of the small town of Asheboro, North Carolina. An only child, her mother died when she was quite young and she was left with her dad and an extended family of mostly men. She did, however, connect with her grandma, who was a classic movie star in the 1940s.

Twyla's grandmother taught her everything there was about Hollywood and inspired her to enter a career in the beauty industry. After high school, Twyla went to junior college and got her degree in cosmetology, working at a small salon in Asheboro for much of her early twenties. She began posting her artwork on social media and also opened an online shop where she sold handmade jewelry and other accessories, both of which gained her a small following online. Once her grandmother died, she decided to leave North Carolina in pursuit of a career in California, wanting to follow in her grandmother's footsteps.

Personality-wise, Twyla is a fast learner and even faster at thinking on her feet. She has been guilty of rambling and at times, lets her energy get the best of her; her bubbly personality can be a bit overwhelming and sometimes even annoying for other people. It comes from being from a small town where everyone is hospitable and certainly meddlesome. Twyla loves exercising her creativity and has never been one to shy away from colors in her work, which is why she works in such fun and imaginative niches.

Lizzie Rojas was raised in an orphanage after her biological mother gave her up for adoption. She was close to being adopted at age eight, but was deemed a "troubled" child after showing signs of aggression. She ended up growing up in several foster homes. Once she hit 18, she was kicked out onto the streets, where moving drugs for the local bosses in Queens was the easiest way to make money. As she got older, though, she got a job as a waitress and ended up being able to fund her own apartment, which meant she slowly wanted to move away from the drug world. But, as things go, it's proving difficult and nearly impossible for her to do so as her former associates continue to be interested in her.

In attempt to distance herself from the drug world, she has dedicated more of her free time to her artistry. She has always been interested in anime art ever since she was a little girl, growing up and watching anime and cartoons every morning at her foster home. In honing her craft, she has posted some digital drawings online and has gained quite a following, albeit a small one. It has given her hope that she can someday pursue a career as an artist, but in the meantime she hasn't created enough of a gap between her and her troubled past quite yet.

Personality-wise, Lizzie is a fiercely independent woman who would probably rather cut off her arm than ask someone for help. This has proven to be a detriment to her, however. It has created a wall between her and her friends; she has never truly felt close to anyone throughout her entire life. And whenever she did feel close to anyone, it eventually became clear that they only wanted her around as a means to get discount weed or something of that nature. Therefore, it's hard for Lizzie to trust people, but once that trust is established, she is incredibly loyal.

Quinn grew up a wayward teenager. As a child, his parents went through a divorce and he was placed with his father due to his mother being admitted to a care center for severe mental illness. She had schizophrenia at a young age, and was the only thing keeping Quinn a warm, growing, loving person. Once they were separated, Quinn lived with his dad and his step family, where he was the oldest of two new siblings who had just been born. In this environment, Quinn's father was emotionally and physically toward him and showed a completely different personality to his step family. Regardless, Quinn still remained Quinn as best as he could during his teenage years; he got into trouble with the law a few times for petty thievery, trespassing. But he had fooled everyone around him that he was fine, portraying a "normal" teenager who was rowdy, fun, and had an optimistic outlook on life.

When Quinn turned 18, his father broke the news to him that he wasn't going to college due to all of his time spent in jail, but really, Quinn knew that his father prioritized his step siblings more. They had an enormous fight that ended in Quinn being kicked out of the house, but he preferred that over living with more years of torture. Besides, he knew deep down it was what his father had planned for him all along, now perfectly happy with his new family.

With nowhere else to turn to, Quinn enlisted in the military. There, he could take out his unresolved anger on others, and something in him shifted. He was no longer what everyone perceived of him, and instead revealed what he thought was his "true" self. Someone cold, blunt, and downright mean. There was a small group of soldiers who saw through this and decided to fight alongside him anyway, and they dubbed themselves the Reaper Squad. He was given the job of the scrubber: The last soldier through an area who made sure every target remained dead, however that meant. And because he was so apt at it, they dubbed him Soap.

And he has been going exclusively by Soap for more than two decades now, hardly anyone realizing his real name.

After he retired from the military, there wasn't much left for him when he came home. Wanting to stay as far away from his father as possible, he moved to New Mexico, living near one of his closest military friends. He earns a living by being a mercenary, completing jobs that earned him lots of cash for doing what he does best: killing. This is a secret of his, though, that none of the Reaper Squad knows. Otherwise, they wouldn't let him do it. But it's the only thing that gives him a sense of purpose.

Personality-wise, Soap has his walls completely up when you first meet him and is very slow to gain trust. He finds it's better this way; he doesn't need any more friends and he's the suffer-in-silence type. The Reaper Squad are the only ones who can get him to show some semblance of humanity. He'd do anything to protect them, and when he's around them, he reverts back to his fun-loving, rowdy, teenage self. But he's still a shell of that former self. What he doesn't realize is he often does selfless acts, and just hates when they're called out or put under a microscope. For instance, he took on the job of the scrubber because no one else wanted to, maybe out of fear. And Soap realized it was his way of protecting everyone else from any more trauma than they already had, so he carried that burden.

Now that he’s out of prison, Jesse wants to be a better person, but is struggling to find stability in civilian life.

Personality-wise, Jesse is a smart-ass. He grew up with a little so he knows how to make a lot from it. Though he will never admit it, he's selfless and always puts others before himself. His relationship with his older sister, Felicity, is fickle. They are just reconnecting after his time spent in prison and making amends after what happened to Levi. When he puts his mind to something, he can always do it.

Open for zombie apocalypse-like verses: I'd love if Jesse was still an inmate during the apocalypse. Think scrounging for resources in a prison and having a big concrete defense against skin-eaters, until a group decides to come in and jeopardize that.

Because he can never guarantee getting published, he also works as a manager at a local café and does odd jobs on the side. Despite being rather clumsy and having a stutter, the odd jobs thing has made him quite the handyman.

He has ADHD and can therefore be quite the energizer bunny. He's infamous for having multiple projects at once and never quite finishing them. A lot of his early days in high school and college were spent pining over his crushes; he's a bit shy to come on to the people he likes. But once he admits his feelings and enters a relationship, Kirk is loyal and prioritizes it.

He also loves drumming. As a child, he was born partially deaf and therefore has to have a cochlear implant. When he first received the implant, his doctor encouraged him to play percussive instruments to learn about sound.

He wrangles a large family with all younger sisters and a hardworking father. Given that he's a "content creator," which his family doesn't really understand, Zeke often feels the pressure of not being successful.

Single parent AU: Zeke is a single parent to his toddler-aged daughter, Yumi. Yumi's mother, Amy, passed away shortly after discovering she had terminal cancer. In this verse, he is navigating how to be a good father, since a lot of the parental skills and responsibilities were left to Amy while he pursued a career in gaming/online creation.

Ford is Soleil's older brother who chose to stay back at the farmhouse while she moved out to the city. He is a former marine and fought in the 2000s, and retired in early 2010s. To keep himself busy, he tends to his family's farm estate and also helps his father by working his ferry business from time to time. He is a man of few words and can come off incredibly coarse initially, but once he opens up, he's a lot more comfortable being himself. He has always dreamt of leaving town just as much as Soleil has, though is extremely devoted to taking care of his family, especially since his mother has gotten sick over the years.

Deep down, beyond his brooding exterior, Ford has a big heart and would absolutely take a bullet for anyone. His relationship with his sister has become complicated over the years and he has noticed more and more how opposite they are. If anything, though, he has interpreted their differences to mean that she has always been meant for something bigger than living at the farm.

The oldest brother in a tight-knit Jewish family from new Jersey, Elisha—Eli for short—has always held a lot of responsibility and has also been held on a high pedestal from a young age. It was a blessing and a curse, as he was forced to grow up rather fast and didn't get to have much of a childhood before his parents assigned him duties. Whether it was walking with his little sisters to the bus stop or landscaping around the house, he always had a job to do. After high school, his grades weren't good enough to get him into college, so Eli went into the military.

He served a couple of tours before retiring in the early 2000s. Back home with nothing else to do, he worked at a warehouse for almost two years before he got the offer to volunteer at the Hoboken Fire Department as a firefighter. With his sisters off doing their own thing and his parents enjoying retirement life, he was once again left with not much to do, so he simply sank into his work. He eventually became part of the payroll at the FD and served for almost two decades.

Most recently, Skip, Eli's best friend from the military, passed away. Skip lived out west in Wyoming and served as a lookout in a firewatch tower in Yellowstone National Park. Losing his best friend made him a bit of a recluse and to cope with the loss, Eli moved to Wyoming to fill in Skip's job. He has spent the last three months learning the ropes in that tower, mostly living in it except for the weekends when he gets to go home to a nearby motel. So much for home.

Eli is boisterous and a bit rowdy. In a big brother way, he’s always thinking about others before himself. He can come off goofy and have a roughhousing energy. Beacon Namara was named that – Beacon – for a reason. He was a light of hope for a set of parents who didn’t think they were ever going to be able to have children. But when he came into their lives, he shone bright, and his curious nature got him interested in music at a young age. He’d listen to his father, who played the trumpet or local jazz bands, practice in the middle of the night and aspire to be just like him. He picked up a trumpet at a young age and played it exactly like his father, if not better. However, there was one thing Beacon always hoped was different for his father – he hoped that one day, he would make it as a big star… even though that never happened.

The thing about jazz – no matter where you are, there are hardly many people who enjoy it anymore. It’s elevator music, in the background of an upscale party – it’s not passionate and a way of life like it used to be when Beacon grew up watching his father play. But Beacon hopes to keep it alive no matter what, even if it’s just one small step after another, like teaching it to the kids at Central Elementary School. He’s admittedly a bit of a romantic – after all, who prays so hard that one day, a kid might appreciate the jazz legends they’re being taught to play and ask about them? – but he’s always been taught to aspire for more than what he has.
