Julie & Julia
I just watched this movie called "Julie & Julia" starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams, released in 2009. It is a film about a young woman, approaching 30, who has only just realized that she has not achieved the success she had expected to have achieve by her age. Julie (Amy Adams) then decides to start writing a blog where she follows the recipes out of the Julia Child cook book. There are 700 recipes and she has given herself exactly 1 year from start to finish. The film also showcases the rise of American (French trained) chef, Julia Child (Meryl Streep,) while she struggled to write and have her cookbook published.
I really liked this film.. I never thought that I would like a movie about a girl writing a blog about a cook book, perhaps it is my interest in food (spending many hours watching the food network) that peaked my interest. I found Amy Adams refreshing as usual, she is one of my "new" favourites. Meryl Streep was really good, living up to her usual acting standards. However, I found the portrayal of Julia Child, as good as it was... extremely annoying. I guess its just Julia Child's voice.. very irritating.
