I'm still very behind on life series episodes due to a camping vacation and my college move-in prep, but I just saw Scott's thumbnail for episode six and I feel SICK. WHY ARE YOU CO-OPTING THE BOAT BOYS PHRASE OH MY GOD. THE IMPLICATIONS! Is Scott trying to be Joel for Etho to get closer to him? Is Etho trying to make Scott into Joel because he misses him? Is it a petty jealousy thing? Is it a bit that I'm definitely going to take waaay too seriously? One of those has to be a yes.

Grian saying "Should we just steal the Watcher sign? They're never going to know." is actually such a huge moment you don't understand.

The Watchers are just canon to the Life Series now. No "Martyn's lore is technically only semi-canon" about it.

Gem's response to Grian saying they (presumably the watchers) won't know is "Jimmy's literally watching you", which could be a miscommunication wherein she assumed Grian was saying the other players were never going to find out, and Jimmy is another player, but could also be read as either Watcher!Jimmy or just Watcher attuned Jimmy in a more similar situation to Martyn.

Essentially, it's 2-3 sentences of very soft lore. Grian is doing Life Series Watcher lore! I AM NOT OK ABOUT THIS!

Past Life Episode Three Thoughts

POVs Watched: Grian, Scott, Martyn, Joel, Ren, Etho, Gem

I swear, Grian had read the redoing gimmicks fan theories and said "we're not having the boogeyman this session" right at the beginning just to throw people off

This is the first time the Watchers have unambiguously communicated with players, right? They sort of did through the tasks in Secret Life, but this is just straight up telepathic manipulation

Grian finding Etho and then just deciding to also invite Joel 🤣. We know you're secretly a Boat Boys shipper Grian, it's ok

ETHO GEM I beg of you not to do a PVP fight every session. I really want one of you to actually win

I'm obsessed with Etho having made up a version of king of the hill around ladders

Tango roleplaying peeing in the hot tub was something I genuinely never ever needed to experience

Cleo inviting Scott to join her team because she needs someone who can survive was so cute, I love them!

Scar immediately recognizing the whisper effect from Secret Life and calling it the "Shadow People." He's been so traumatized by that (and I love that cc!Scar has forgotten that bit of lore is not canon for everyone). Also I know Shadow People=Watchers is an extremely common headcanon in the fandom, but I think this basically confirms it considering we also know the Watchers are in Past Life due to Grian's episode

Scott and Ren flirting was not on my Past Life bingo card, but I guess it makes sense to invite him into the extended Scott polycule

Bdubs and Skizz recreating lady and the tramp with a millipede in the pokiball roleplay was not something I had ever considered would happen

I love that the Gluten Guys' secret chest also has 61 wheat. Yes, it has food value, but at the same time why?

I'm actually obsessed with Etho saying "If we all don't play along, we won't have to worry about anything" right after the heard the whispers. Scott's passive anti-Watcher influence is STRONG apparently

Impulse talking to Ren like "I like your idea of making sure someone who has not won a previous season is in good shape to win this season." I can only imagine Impulse really deeply struggling not to point to himself because he doesn't want to destroy the alliance

As soon as Ren started walking toward the pyramid with all his animals, I thought "he wouldn't take the right next to the cactuses and lava, would he?" Low and behold, he would.

I think Skizz should just join the Gluten Guys and they can be RITS (prounounced Ritz)

Tango's first reaction to the multikill being "I'm so proud of him [Etho]" is actually the most wholesome thing ever

New Etholore from this session is that he cannot lie convincingly

The Gluten Guys putting up an emblem on the top of the pyramid...with every episode they inch closer and closer to reforming the Red Army

Etho getting harassed by the initiate message and lamely trying to tell Bdubs to leave him alone so he can decompress 😂

Etho continually stealing from the Villies' chests throughout the episode is my favorite sideplot

Etho accusing Jimmy of "trying to steal my boy away" was certainly...a choice

*shaking Bdubs by the shoulders* WHAT IS THE CABIN BOYS RELATIONSHIP! You're continually calling them your family, and just referred to Scott as an uncle, but you have a weird jelousy arc with Etho going so I don't know what's happening anymore. Also, if Scott is the uncle, who's brother is he? Etho breaking up with Cleo and marrying her brother would be really funny actually, but he could also be Etho's brother, in which case Etho and his kids having to move in with him is just the continuation of his deadbeat dad arc from WL

Grian getting worried Pearl will not cover for them when the ladder falls is so funny knowing that Pearl is actually their most vehement defender

"You're going to kill us all" Jimmy you have NO IDEA

I love Scott screaming in the background of the octokill in the exact same way he did for Grian and Scar's triple kill in 3L
