EVALUATION
My first 2 artists Antonio Rodrigues Jr and Khuong Pham helped influence my final outcomes. From Khuong Pham i applied a sense of minimalism which he illustrated through the simplistic design of a photograph, text, negative space and solid coloured background which i then adapted in my final piece. While Antonio Rodrigues Jr illustrations of flowers reminded me that from my starting point of flowers i didn't have to limit myself to photographs of flowers and that i could illustrate them, which i applied to my final outcome while making the outlines more realistic by using the photographs of the flowers as a basis, informed by Antonio Rodrigues Jr realistic illustrations which enabled me to learn how to illustrate outlines of flowers when doing my experiments. These artists helped me be able to create a bright happy image by using a bright coloured background and flowers to appeal to a wide audience. The other artists i chose didn't inform my final piece and therefore were probably not effectively chosen, however at the time i didn't know what idea to follow so by creating designs i wasn't happy with it lead me to come back to the simplistic style i thought was effective which was enforced in my final work. Through creating designs influenced by Jenya Vyguzov I was able to develop an understanding of how flowers could represent something and not just be decorative e.g. scent, which I applied to my final outcome to put across a more meaningful message.

I am happy with the final outcomes I produced, however now in reflection I feel the design is too simple and I'm not happy with the composition. I liked the outlines of the flowers and thought they came across as were detailed however I wish I included leaves on some of them to add realism and so that the stems on every flower didn't look the same. I was happy with how I illustrated the slogan an thought the letters were affective and matched the look of the flowers but I wished I had made it bigger in comparison to the page to make it stand out more. I also should have made the flowers smaller to match the font more effectively and create more of a border of negative space around the image. I think I was adventurous in the fact that I tried many different outcomes in my development of my idea and how I decided to animate a gif instead of a still image. However, I wish I would have experimented with using traditional art mediums such as paint. Throughout my project I think my work changed in its standard as I think my photographs of my model were weak which lead to weaker experiments with them, but I think my Photoshop work has been of a consistent standard as well as all the components of my final outcome.

My client: The LGBT Foundation is clearly represented as their logo is displayed in the corner, and I chose one with a white background to standout against the coloured design. My idea matches the theme and style of the client as I used rainbow colours which are displayed on their branding and symbolise the LGBT community to which their whole objective is to support. The reaction to the design should be to be inspired and realise that there is support for the LGBT community via the LGBT foundation and therefore contact them or visit their website and hopefully donate to the cause. To help create this response I included the foundations phone number and email address at the top of the design, while clearly displaying their name and logo. I also decided to include a quote from them to explain what they do and what they believe in to gain recognition for the charity and to make the viewer feel represented and safe. My further research helped this as it allowed me to understand the charity and their message while finding out their number, email and the quote.
The graphics outcomes are aimed at LGBT members, specifically younger ones as they are most likely to not be 'out the closet', who are afraid to express how they feel, who haven't come to terms with their sexuality or people in general who are afraid to express themselves. I have done this by including the slogan "don't be afraid to show your true colours" and including a quote from the LGBT Foundation to show that people are here to support them. I made the design youthful by including bright colours in the form of rainbow metals and the coloured background, while the illustrated flowers and font also create a childlike effect. However I feel like the dull teal background and more minimalist design could also be seen as more sophisticated and appeal to adults. The ... font of used in the quote also adds balance to the illustrated font and adds a more serious tone to the design to appeal to a wider audience.
If I had more time on this project I would try to transfer the main features of my design and message into Guerrilla advertising to take it to the next level of careful thought to maximise the exposure of the charity to gain many donations while inspiring young LGBT people. I would also try to illustrate more different designs of flowers and represent a statistic through them to add more dimension and levels of meaning to the design while also lengthening the time of the gif to make it a advert and therefore transferable to many types of media to reach more viewers.

Throughout my project i have been indecisive with what colour to use for the background as it was hard to find one that compliments the multicoloured rainbow effect.

I started to finalise my final piece so that I know what final design I am going to create in the exam. I wanted to include a statistic at the bottom, however most statistics were negative, about how many people don't want to come out, the amount of young LGBT people who are being bullied etc. So, I decided to include a quote from the LGBT foundation, as they are my client and it helps promote them as a charity while the positive quote could also lead them to look up the foundation and find further support and therefore meeting the purpose of the design.

I liked this design the most out of all the other experiments, so I decided to start developing it, with the slogan and logo and in different colours; I prefer the teal and dusty pink colour.

I liked how the rainbow was clearly visible and displayed on these designs. I used light, pastel coloured backgrounds to match and compliment the pastel colours of the petals. I decided to experiment and make the colours of the rainbow a more pastel tone to see whether the previous right colours were too bold. I feel like the lighter colours work on this larger simplistic design but don't on the smaller designs as the brighter colours helps the rainbow standout.

Following on from the design of the one rose, I wanted to see if the rainbow design would be effective on this one enlarged flower. I do not like the design however, as I think it looks too basic even when experimenting with the inverting the outlines and background and toning the colours of the petals down to a more pastel tone. I then thought it would be interesting to incorporate the photograph of the photo, which I had used earlier on in the project. I liked the one with the black background, however I feel like the flower looks lonely and therefore goes against the message of the design, which is trying to illustrate that you are not alone and there is a community to support you.
