My small take on the “who’s in charge: the Ambassador or the Hanged King” thing (it/its Ambassador and he/him for the King, for now):

Ultimately, the King is in power. If anything substantial is happening in that god-shaped hole, the Ambassador would be powerless to stop it or harness it for its own benefit. The Ambassador has some form of control over the King’s current state, but it’s taking what it can, while it can, at the mercy of a godly being’s indifference.

The Ambassador’s power over the King is in a very limited sense as it often deceives him (doesn’t matter because the King surpasses the bounds of mortal perception), does things in his name, passing down orders that the King did not voice, basically doing the monarch duties for the King.

On the most surface level, to unenlightened observers and most dwellers of Alagadda if they are still somewhat conscious, it simply looks like the King is in charge. He’s the king, apparently.

It’s a complex but balanced situation but not a struggle, no, not in a way two beings fight for the high ground. Neither is willing to touch that balance and break everything they’ve built so far. The King is not complicit nor imprisoned. The Ambassador did not betray or abandon him.

Small fun fact when 035 was anguish/still part of the alagadda cult thing he wore more jester like costumes because that was his role now that he was cast away he is kinda lost and so he tones downs the jester and he is more plain costume and villanous acts wise lol
