Logbooks/Performing Arts Business
Dancers can you please make sure that you complete all tasks on your brief that is posted on your site. You need to make sure that you pay particular attention to 10 and 11. I will be arranging a financial session this week but the rest can be completed independently.
Look at different career paths within the industry and list the training and experience requirements. Make sure that you evaluate the importance of particular types of training courses and job experience for successful career progression. Research the services provided by a range of organisations for the performing arts industries and how the help performers i.e. Equity, BECTU and the MU. (PAB GC 1,2,3)
Prepare a mock budget for the production on “Far From Over”, this will be achieved once you have undertaken a financial workshop. You will also need to explain the difference between public and private funding methods for performing arts events. (PAB GC 4&5)
See you tomorrow.

Choreographer @ Miskin Dance
Lindsey originates from Liverpool where her passion for dance initially started. She moved to London at sixteen to further her training at Performers Dance College for three years. She then went on to work in the industry in a variety of roles and jobs before joining the Miskin Theatre in 2000, here she founded the Miskin Dance Company. Throughout the past twelve years she has had several roles from Head of Dance to Associate Head of School, with the latest change happening in 2011 where she took the role of Curriculum Manager for Dance, Acting and Technical Theatre. During her time she has produced/choreographed 26 productions for Miskin Dance and helped devise choreography for several Miskin Theatre productions. The aim for the dance programme has always been the same; to give young talented individuals the opportunity to work in an environment that will help nurture their talent and guide them into an industry that is challenging and rewarding. Still after twelve years there is a huge excitement about each new year and 2012 promises to be as exciting as any other.
