I love how heartbreaking House life is. It's a lot sadder than I remember. House is an excellent character; he is his worst enemy.
They dont cook like this anymore, I'm dying to try it myself. Not that I can, but still.... a character-driven series that happens in a world perfectly crafted for one man. That's insane in ways I wish I could explain.

I STILL WANT TO TALK TO THE WRITERS
WHY DO WILSON LIKE THAT? the C-word episode lives rent-free in my head, except I didn't remember the medical case...an extra rational doctor mother who is okay with experimental treatments fighting a over-emotional father who loves his child. They are at odds all the time because they see their kid in very different lights. The child is a 6-year-old girl. Old enough to speak, who is fragile as is actively dying, just faster than she should. If that aint house trying to protect the most fragile thing he has, then who are they? WHO DID THIS??? The child has a HEART tumor. Chase stepping up diagnostics. Wilson lashing out and saying the most horrible things to House. This episode has EVERYTHING.

...did this man won any awards for Wilson? bc if not I need to give him one. He did not. at this rate I will have to visit his grave in like 50 years. BUT I will give him his award

This is the softest House will ever be, they really reserved the good House for this moment, and the payoff is sweeter than I could imagine.
House: "I AM arguing with a man with big brown eyes, whatever I say, beautiful."
I couldn't really deal with this series if the ending were not a payoff of some kind bc this is literally killing me/sustaining my all-nighters
Thinking again about that post/tweet/whatever about how Dr. House is the ultimate medical fantasy despite all his obvious boundaries and legal violations, because "I could never sue a doctor for malpractice if they can diagnose something every other doctor overlooks or misdiagnoses."

something to be said about unreliable narration (a concept the show plays with explicitly and repeatedly—three stories, 5 to 9, the mistake, wilson) and how amber’s ambition, arguably her defining trait, all but disappears as soon as she re-enters s4 as wilson’s girlfriend
#as someone currently marathoning the series it isnt that big either#the shift#or maybe is that House pov is clearer watching it in one go that the shift between amber in one episode and then later on is not a sidestep#it is a deeper understanding of her character#the series decisions camerawise etc are very House motivated#even in scenes or episodes he is not supposed to be the center#we know what he wanrs us to know - sort of deal#and we discover what he discovers#and s4 is absolutely clear about it#including the choice to hallucinate with her later in s5. it tell us a lot about how house sees her#idk i just really emjoyed her character

The second worst thing a series can do after "Unfounding the Family" is pointing the Manic Pixie Dream to one of the main characters. Basically Unfounding the Family but for just one character.
Just have this one little guy who is perfect match to the cast, usually to the main character, helps them out, makes them a better person, and advances the story... and then decides to leave/is removed from the plot for no reason other than make space for a romantic interest or to show that there was some development indicating that this one character was merely training wheels. Usually, justified by saying, " and they followed their own dream far away :) "
