“The more rocks I study, the more we understand of the true nature of our world” Nothing more attractive than an educated, intelligent woman who’s passionate about science and learning.

I love this quote and the first half’s focus on Nagi. What a beautiful way to sum up the field of mineralogy and this series. Rocks are one of the best ways we have to look back on the early stages of the earth’s development and learn what it was like. Don’t look at rocks as just well.. rocks, but as a window into the past to learn more about our home.

The way Ruri’s become a little sister to Nagi.. I said it last week, but the best part of this show has been Ruri coming into her own as a scientist and learning from her newfound big sister. Nagi isn’t even doing anything special, but her passion for mineralogy and enthusiasm have rubbed off on ruri and you can see her taking lead in a lot of these search quests now! The way she gets so excited about science experiments in the lab is also very sweet. We need more young people getting involved in STEM, especially girls who are under represented. I really hope this motivates some young people to go out and learn about this precious rock we’re floating on. We only have one home and we need to learn about and protect it as much as we can.

Beautiful episode as per.

as a geography student who loves mineralogy, watching Ruri Rocks is sooo cute and nice! i remember a lot of those stuff from my geology class and from my studies during my internship at one of the labs of my uni (i had to study geochemistry to work there). it also reminded me of my field classes… i miss that so much 🥹
if you’re interested in geology, specially mineralogy, i highly recommend watching! it’s really friendly for people that never studied geology before and is a good introduction to mineralogy

Well ya. Much like how armies in our world have tried to utalize the world around them for any advantage they can get.
The board game scene is full of foreshadowing, but I'm more interested in the fact that the game developers decided to include Grimm as a gameplay element.
Yang's "You just activated my trap card!" line indicates that players are consciously controlling Grimm, though the outcome being dependent die rolls shows that this is a risky gamble, which could result in the
While Qrow's "World of Remnant" segment on the Great War claims battles were often broken up by Grimm attacks, could it be that in the past factions attempted to utilize the Grimm for their own purposes?

People still tend to lump JK Rowling in with the category of ~problematic artists~ and I need everyone to understand that is not the problem with her. She is not comparable to anyone who wrote a piece of fiction you hate, or someone who made rude comments in 2015 and has since learned better.
She is far more like Elon Musk. She is a radicalized person with an extreme amount of social and financial power, and for YEARS she has been using that power to try to influence her government into hurting vulnerable people, on purpose. And she has succeeded. THAT is the problem with her, and THAT is why spending money on her books is so dangerous, not because her books aged badly.
Critiquing her work is fine, of course (I personally was never a fan so I really don’t care) but you NEED to understand that fiction is not the main issue here. And I truly think acting like she’s the same as the rest of any giant list of ~problematic creators of the week~ waters down how dangerous she is.
