Medieval "Don't Wake The Llama" Default
Hi friends! I made another thing for my medieval game!
I'm always looking for more fun things for my medieval sims to do and I thought that sitting around a table stacking up piles of sticks sounded about right 馃槀 So I made a medieval friendly default replacement of the Dont Wake the Llama game. This default renames the game to "Sticks and Stones" (thanks to @niamh-sims for that suggestion 馃槉) and replaces the coloured sticks with actual twiggy looking sticks, the llama with some rocks, and the table with the 9 Archer's Meadhall table. The table mesh is the exact same as the 9AM 1x1 table, and is therefore Repo'd to it. I used Blue Heaven Sims's "Redeemed Set" because I love all the addons and recolours. You MUST have the 1x1 Master table from that link for the table textures to show up, plus you get some lovely recolours!
Now this was made slightly more complicated by the fact that the original CEP included making "Don't Wake the Llama" recolourable. Therefore, to use my default, you must replace your core CEP files with my edited ones. I promise, I have done nothing apart from remove the 2 lines relating to this table. Your CEP will still work! 馃挆
These are included in the download, along with a text file of installation instructions to guide you through. Any issues, feel free to comment here and I will try to help!

So when I dismissed Nephthys as a marital prospect for Oceanus on the basis that she was a sex worker, it's not because that renders her unacceptable as a spouse (I don't know that it would, for a plebeian in Rome) but because I'm enjoying playing the brothel too much to have her quit and get married.
What you see there is Neper Lapidus getting a loyalty star for being goosed at the end of a dream date, which nicely summarizes gameplay at a live-in brothel. Nephthys is about to ask out Telesphorus, who's wearing only a thong because... I don't know, strip poker, woohoo, who really needs a reason to be naked in this house?
I don't really have a lot of screencaps from this round, because after two attempts that both crashed, I wasn't sure how much of this play session would be lost to the timestream. Turns out this round actually stuck!
I don't even know who's falling in love here. The men keep falling in love (possibly I should take out the mod that treats woohoo as a romantic interaction) while Nephthys and Nisaba are unbothered. Though Nisaba did fall in love with, and eventually get pregnant by, Amon Stone Murex... as if he doesn't have enough kids already!
Nephthys, meanwhile, got pregnant by Telesphorus Lacus, because while he's a devoted customer she would, and does, woohoo him for free.
She was ahead of Nisaba, so she actually gave birth this round. I might have had her raise a daughter, to carry on the family business, but she gave birth to a son, Ptolemy. He was given to Taranis and Aristaeus to raise.
Meanwhile, the brothel is up to level 6, and maybe calling it a brothel is a bit inaccurate - plenty of the clients, including relatives of Nephthys and Nisaba, come by for food, conversation, naked gambling and the bubble blower.
Not Oceanus, though. He's here for exactly the reasons you'd expect.

I probably follow most of you already! I just want more historical themed Simblrs to follow because I love looking at the pictures and we鈥檙e such a niche little group :D
Anything pre 1980s is good!

I'm not dead, despite the four weeks gap in posting. Just tired - home remodeling IRL is far more exhausting than the Sims version, also time-consuming, expensive, smelly, noisy, and infuriating.
And when I finally found the time and energy to play, I got three days into a rotation with the Ladies of Negotiable Affection only to have the game crash on me.
So there's that. I'm working on some CC - magazines and books for Edo-era Japan, speech and painting mods for Ancient Egypt, a replacement for the out-of-stock sign - but it's also slow going.

I figured, as long as I had the crystal ball, let's see who's out there for Plutus. The science hobbyist, that's who. I think her name's Althea, which fits in a lot better than Coraline...
Oceanus and Coraline tie the knot after a whirlwind courtship. I'm not showing the wedding guests on account of issues with formal wear (Ariadne's modern cocktail dress, something I did wrong with Carmenta's formal that left her as a floating head) but there are many of them.
The bride and groom are both popularity sims. Of course it's a roof raiser. I took the opportunity to have Oceanus ask Sekhmet to Just Be Friends to prevent misunderstandings later on.
After the wedding, I took a gameplay break, decided to tinker with an idea that's been nagging at me (replacing the out-of-stock signs) and when I came back I reopened the store for a bit.
Of course that also meant wants rerolled...
Give me strength.
That's about how I feel too, Coraline. We've still got the pool, don't worry.
As the sun rises on the first day of spring, I just give up on Oceanus showing any redeeming traits and decide to force him to interact with his son. We'll see how all this plays out later.

Should I be worried about the penguin that crashed a wedding party, helped itself to cake, and then glided around without actually animating properly with the cake plate? It's hard to make out in the crowded room but the plate is hovering over its head.
Eventually it went back to standard penguin behavior, waddling and peeing and talking to snowmen, but it was freaky!

The real issue with Oceanus's thing for Sekhmet isn't the fact she boinked his grandpa (though that's not great) or his dead uncle, nor is it the fact he met her when I summoned her to say goodbye to her longtime boyfriend, his grandpa (also not great) OR the fact that he booty-called her literal hours after his wife died in front of him (which is objectively awful!) If she could have children I'd hold my nose and deal with all those things despite the havoc it would wreak on the family tree, but she can't, so I have to find him a love interest in her childbearing years despite the fact that he (a) doesn't deserve it and (b) is doing his damnedest to make that difficult. Look at this man's chemistry panel:
Post-menopausal girlfriend who's already been with two dead relatives; sex worker; the woman he's talking to (we'll get to her); the ACTUAL EMPRESS; Appia, a former NPC who's currently dating Hephaestus, his cousin-in-arms in sleeping with Min's girlfriends, because I guess love triangles with your relatives aren't enough and we need to upgrade to a love ouroboros; and his aunt-by-marriage Isis. Seriously. What am I supposed to do with this guy?
Getting desperate, and not wanting to inflict him on any of the teen girls in this cohort, I used the TwoJeffs crystal ball to check for any other options, and found that Coraline Dissembler, from this set of hobby instructors, showed up as a match for him. So I summoned her, made her over, and had him approach her.
She was very into it.
Not so into it she couldn't go into dissatisfied-customer mode and lecture him about the insufficiently-clean toilet or perhaps more generally about him summoning her via sorcery to the bathroom of all places.
She would not stop heartfarting him, though, and while he was slower to warm up, this was his reaction when I told him to flirt with her again. Then he rolled a want to go on a date with her, so of course I obliged!
Progress!
Definite progress!

In news about other sims in this household who aren't so difficult, Oceanus has been leaving all the hard work of raising his son Tullius to his parents:
Also I basically never talk about the younger kids, but Oshun and Nereus still have two preteen children in the house, Faunus and Carmenta:
One day I will get through this interminable rotation, but this is not that day.

I actually do have a pool I could drown Oceanus in. No one ever goes to swim in it, though I'm not sure if that's because it's tiny, or because it doesn't have a diving board - I'm beginning to suspect the diving board is the thing that actually advertises fun, in-game.
I never noticed the wonky anatomy on this bee until now. The pollen saddlebags are supposed to be on the back legs, not a separate part of the body! Am I going to remake the entire mod now to fix this? Probably.
Oshun desperately wants to clean the smelly pet bed, but her children are too busy being Theater Kids to let her.
Here you can finally get a decent look at Tacitus Marmor.
Amatheia brought Tacitus home, but turned out to have a decent amount of chemistry with Flavius. And not just him, so we'll see what happens...

The rest of my last Rubus-household play session:
Oshun and Nereus's third-youngest, what's-his-face - Plutus, I'm pretty sure this is Plutus - grew into a teen. He got Oshun's features despite the light skin.
Tullius, Oceanus and Epona's only son, seems to have been burdened with Epona's nose. Poor kid. Still cute at this age, though.
Amatheia, meanwhile, is delighted to have another teen in the household so she can inflict all the noogies she wants.
Oshun does better at running her own business, a clothing shop, than the one at home. It's level 4!
But she still got on her own sister's case for daring to window-shop while poor. I'd never seen this interaction before! I'd always used mods to stick to townie shoppers until I started this challenge.

I was finally able to load the Rubus household without everything turning into a magenta disco, so I opened up the home business and immediately discovered new ways for the game to drive me mad!
The family lives in the House of the Vine from Medieval Sims, which has an unusual layout that is apparently way too confusing for the customers. They keep going around to the side of the house, slipping into the dining room from a door I forgot to lock and then hanging around in the kitchen wondering where all the flowers are.
The flowers are right at the front and some of the customers can find them, so it's even more baffling.
Oshun performed one sales interaction and then tried to go take a nap. Oh no you don't.
"But I'm tired!"
No you're not! All your need bars are like 80% full. I get to take to my bed after socializing with a human from outside my household because I'm autistic and it actually depletes my need bars. You don't have that excuse! All sims are neurotypical! Get back to work.
After all, your daughter can't be trusted to run the shop for you. Amatheia is an absolute menace - she noogied every teen that came in until I sent her to the flower bench to protect the business's ranking.
And I gave in and let Oceanus invite Sekhmet over. She did the "can I bring a friend" thing, and this is the friend she brought.
I did not authorize time travelers! I haven't even sent anybody to any hobby lots to meet these guys! She is doing this just to spite me!
And now she's in love with Oceanus (he was already in love with her.) Brilliant. Perfect. Just what I wanted. Oceanus, you realize she fucked your grandpa, right?
"That didn't stop Hephaestus! Dead grandpas can't stand in the way of true love!"
Maybe not, but pool ladders can!
#Valley of Time#family: Rubus#era: Roman#don't make me discover pool ladders Oceanus#your parents have other sons#this wasn't even the end of the play session#just of my patience for these guys

Tried to load the Rubus household (the primary Berry family) and was greeted with this: pink soup and Oceanus focusing all his wants on Sekhmet, ffs.
And then my game crashed.

After Flora's appearance in the Murex round I thought I'd go look in on her and Shamash, and found that I'd played half their rotation already. I think it was probably "my game will not stop crashing and turning pink, maybe a small lot and family will be easier?"
They are a nice chill household - a little tight on space, but uneventful. Their little girl, Aquila, had become a toddler in the time I'd already played...
...but otherwise they spent most of their time painting due to a lack of other revenue streams. Then on the last day of the rotation, Flora and Shamash's birthdays hit.
Nobody even bothered to go inside, just got the party started as soon as they got on the property.
To be fair, the house is teeny.
Let's just pretend Shamash didn't grow up into... that.
And OF COURSE I didn't get any post-makeover screenshots of them, because I'm me. The party was a roof-raiser, nobody died, Shamash has a job in military now. Maybe soon they can afford a second bedroom.

The only big event of the Murex Minor round was the double birthday of Ariadne and Antonia. Unfortunately, Khepri had to work that afternoon, so it was mostly Ariadne's family and friends.
You can see Nekhbet back there - she and Ariadne are best friends.
Flora, of course, wants to talk about violence.
Psst, Ariadne, you were supposed to put the little one down first... the dress doesn't make any historical sense, but I think Rome did have some indirect trade with China?
Oceanus, trying to win back my affections after his whole "I will sleep with Sekhmet before my wife's grave has even been moved to the cemetery" deal, swoops in to cuddle his little niece. We'll see, Oceanus. Your round's coming up. Meanwhile, the family's servant Aegaeon has a bit of a delayed reaction. He hasn't actually been featured as yet - he doesn't have much to do around the property.
Khepri got home from work and started making the rounds, including checking in with his sister. And Antonia used the toddler toy to summon her grandparents and try to bond with them, though they didn't make much progress.
Despite not getting any screenshot time to speak of, Aegaeon is on good terms with the family, especially Ariadne.

Next family on the list is the junior Murex household; Amon and Anat's third son Khepri married Ariadne Rubus, and they're getting established in life.
Ariadne had gotten herself knocked up before they got married, and baby Antonia is still at the point of laying around without much to do except attempt to eat her own toes.
Khepri's got an entry-level job assisting a scientist in his studies and he's missing a lot of the skills he needs (cleaning and cooking) so he has a lot of studying to do, which suits him just fine as a knowledge sim.
Ariadne, meanwhile, is one of the few people who actually likes Flora, the ex-plantsim daughter of Neith and Moremi and wife of Shamash. I feel like this picture sums up their dynamic pretty well. Flora is one of those sims with high outgoing and low nice, so she likes to go around poking and taunting people, and Ariadne has like nine or ten nice points so she somehow manages to find the good even in Flora. And they're both very interested in fashion.

One thing about having a popularity sim as the family's servant - she wants to befriend EVERYONE in the house. Camilla is only too happy to have a friend her own age, since she's never really brought anyone home from school or clicked with anyone outside the household. Though that might change - I was mistaken about needing Thoth at home for anyone to go to the bookshop, so Camilla's been helping out there, and meeting some older men who interest her...
Flavius and his pseudo-twin Tacitus both became teens on the last evening of the rotation. Tacitus was exhausted and crabby, so there's no shots of him as a teen yet, but Flavius was more cooperative. He got some interesting features from his faelien parent:
Since Flavius's cousin Castor is a trans girl (for lack of better ideas, I'm renaming her Cassia)
I thought Flavius's faelien heritage was the perfect solution - they can still have biological kids and everything. And at first they seemed to hit it off:
But Cassia might have gotten a little carried away...
"Here? Now? Right in front of everybody? I just don't know if I like you like that."
Poor Cassia!
"I still think you're really pretty!"
But it might have been less about "not in front of my sister and our maid!" and more about "Not in front of Meret," it seems...
GUYS. That is NOT going to work out long-term.
Teenagers, man...

Thoth's tiny bookshop is doing surprisingly well; not really turning a profit as yet, but it's at business level 3, and Thoth and Rosmerta are both building up relevant badges.
It really is tiny, though. Thoth is probably going to need to sell it and buy a bigger one sometime soon, if only for the sake of my sanity. Maybe when his sons become teens, so they can start training to take over.
I really should have put the business deed in Rosmerta's name; as it is, they're stuck only going over there when Thoth, the property owner, is at home, and he's still working full-time as a lawyer.

Finally had the time and motivation to get into my game - the actual Test of Time hood, not the embryonic Egypt I poked at earlier - and it's on to Thoth Marmor's household.
Eldest child Camilla has become a teen, and she's playing a game that's definitely not chess, a medieval invention, ahaha, while showing me how I need to get more lighting in this corner:
The family's current servant is Meret, a daughter of Rhea and Anubis:
Youngest child Tacitus is definitely not using any anachronistic technology while he practices his school presentation on the battle of Actium:
And Thoth and Rosmerta are just hanging out in their sleeping children's room acting like they have way more than 2 bolts:
