In an effort to stay engaged in the fandom while not currently writing for it, I've decided to try my hand at reviewing THG fanfiction. I've actually wanted to do this for a while. Now that I am bogged down with health issues and creativity problems it seems like the perfect segue. In the immortal words of Dewey Finn from School of Rock

Or in my case, those who can't actually publish original works write fanfiction and those who can't write fanfiction review it!! LOL I'm just kidding guys. I'm having a laugh at my own expense. Not anybody else's I promise!

I cannot promise these reviews will be spectacular or in any way professional. Think more like 3rd grade book report okay?

I do think they will be mildly entertaining and I hope they will increase reader traffic in THG fandom and highlight some of the older or lesser known fics.

Anyway, if you want to travel down this rabbit hole with me I'm going to try to review at least 1 fic a week. I'll also be taking recommendations in my inbox.

Everlark Christmas Gifts 2018 - Info & Prompts!

The Everlark Christmas Gifts 2018 is a 16 day event where every day there will be a prompt to inspire people to create an Everlark Christmas gift for Everlark fans to delight in.  Fanworks that are allowed are: fics, artwork, aesthetics, gifsets, manips, and basically any and all things Everlark! 

The way the event will work is between the 10th and 25th of December each day will have a specific prompt that must be completed on the date assigned to it. Participants have that until midnight in their timezone to post and/or submit their works before the next day begins. As this is not a month long event (like last year), participants can post UP TO TWO submissions per day. 

To enter all participants need to do is either tag us on Tumblr on your chosen prompt’s day, or submit your work directly to the blog.

The Art Of Saying I Love You

They’ve been doing so well that Haymitch doesn’t notice for a long time.

It’s not easy at first. Having her in the house, sharing the space, learning to be more than just colleagues that sometimes have sex… It’s not easy to watch the dark bags under her eyes, the way she trembles when she thinks nobody is watching, the haunted look on her face when something startles her…

That part lasts months.

Months of him trying to coax her back to her former self. Months of him forgetting to drown himself in a bottle because there is something more important to do. Months of nightmares and panic attacks and tentative kisses that evolve into cautious cuddles that evolve into the two of them permanently sharing a bed. Months of rediscovery on either part.

He is my academic twin, or that’s what they call us. Same advisor, same class schedule, and very similar thesis tracks even though he graduated undergrad two years before me. We’re both Dr. Beetee’s prized students, each plucked from the masses of applications for his research team. We even sit side by side in the Research Design course every first year geography grad student has to take, no matter what subdiscipline you study. Physical, cultural, political, climate, medical, or media geography, we all have to sit through it.

I turn to my left to see Peeta Mellark, another first year but polar opposite in studies. He looks up from his reading and adjusts his glasses to see if the question was addressed to him. ��Free food and drinks? Yeah, I’m in. What about you, Katniss?”

Guided by a deep-rooted impulse he couldn’t always control, Peeta longed to touch her.

From the moment he had first seen her —standing by her front door, unwashed, unkempt, and scowling under the pale morning sun— Peeta had wanted to rush to her side.

His hands had itched to touch her cheek, to brush the matted hair away from her face, to let her know she’d be OK.
