Chapter 14

Alexa searched through her windshield reading the numbers on the houses she was passing by to find Harry’s home. She had taken the rest of the week off and into the weekend to head to Suffolk to see Harry on base after almost three long weeks apart. Peanut was jumping up and down on the window, excited to see the new views as they drove through the quaint community.

“452….. 454….” Alexa muttered to herself while gripping the steering wheel tightly. “458!” She sat up straighter having found Harry’s home. Pulling into the drive way of a light blue and white brick home, Alexa could not contain her excitement at seeing her boyfriend.

As soon as she put the car in park, the front door swung open to reveal Harry dressed casually in jeans and a black shirt walking down the steps with a massive grin plastered on his lips. Alexa opened the door and stepped out only to be swept up into the air securely by Harry’s arms. He gave his girlfriend a quick twirl while her laughter filled his ears.

“I cannot believe you are here!” His excitement was palpable as he gently set her feet back on the ground. He cupped her cheek tenderly staring into the deep green eyes he had missed the past few weeks.

“You better because I am here.” Alexa giggled as she snaked her arms around the prince’s waist and placed her body flush against his.

“Come here…” Harry leaned down and captured her lips tenderly kissing them. Their lips lingered, welcoming the feeling that coursed through their bodies as their lips massaged against one another’s. The prince was not willing to let go of Alexa’s lips quiet yet as he deepened the kiss and gained access to her tongue. Alexa moaned against his dripping lips, tasting the desire that was building within him.

Her lips broke off for a second to take in a deep breath, but Harry’s lips were not slowing down as they trailed down her jaw line to her neck. “Easy, Harry.” Alexa giggled and pushed him away much to his dismay as he groaned in protest.

“Sorry, I have been looking forward to kissing those lips for a long time.” His blue eyes adoringly shared a glance with Alexa’s.

“Get me inside first and they are all yours, babe.” Alexa rubbed up and down Harry’s back.

“Let me help you with your bags.” He stepped around Alexa to head to the back of her car. “You get Peanut and I will carry them in for you.” Harry lifted the trunk and grabbed a duffle bag and small roller suitcase from inside.

Alexa opened the door and Peanut quickly escaped, running off to explore Harry’s small yard in the front. She felt a hand settle on her lower back, giving it a light push to follow Harry inside. Reaching behind her back she grasped his hand and held it as they climbed the steps.

She felt Harry’s eyes on her as Alexa peaked up at him smiling down at her. “What’s with that grin of yours?”

“Can’t I be happy that you are here?” He hoisted her bag over his shoulder as he watched Alexa’s lips spread into a smile at his confession. Grabbing the doorknob, he turned it and pushed open the door before allowing Alexa to walk in first. “Ladies, first.”

Alexa stepped inside and felt Peanut wind through her legs before running ahead to explore the new space. She kicked off her shoes and walked further inside, taking in the cozy quaint home that Harry lived in. Walking down the hall she glanced back at the prince who had set her bags down at the front entrance and followed in behind her.

“I want you to feel at home here.” He placed his hand on the small of her back as they rounded the corner to an open kitchen and dining area. “So anything you need, you help yourself ok?”

“Ok, babe.” She sighed deeply trying to relax, but after her conversation with Eugenie on the drive here about the release of the wedding party to the press in the next few days, she simply couldn’t.

Harry’s brow furrowed with concern as he caught a brief glimpse of the stress she was hiding from him. Little did Alexa know, but he had spoken with Eugenie before he left for the states and asked her to hold off on the release until he was back. It ended up being perfect timing when Alexa told Harry that she would come to Suffolk for nearly a week. He advised Eugenie of the details and they both wanted to protect Alexa from the potential onslaught of the press. They decided together that releasing a statement about the wedding party would best be done when Alexa was with Harry in Suffolk.

“You know, there is this great little thai place a few blocks away from here. Can I take you out for dinner tonight?” Harry bent down and picked up Peanut that was jumping up and down on him to gain his attention.

“Yeah, that sounds awesome. Are you sure you don’t have to study though?” Alexa stepped closer to Harry and scratched the pup’s ear.

“Not tonight. I am all yours.” Harry giggled as Peanut tried to give him a series of wet kisses.

“Or Peanuts!” Alexa tossed her head back seeing Harry’s displeased face as he gave up the fight to stop her.

“Almost ready babe?” Harry walked into his master bathroom to find Alexa putting on the last touches of her make up. He looked up and stopped dead in his tracks realizing that he had walked in on Alexa half naked, dressed in black lace underwear that fit her well. His eyes slowly scanned up and down her body over ever little curve that shaped her toned body. Harry had no idea that this was what was hiding beneath it all.

“Sorry, I uh…” Harry tore his eyes off Alexa’s body. “I should have knocked first.” The prince ran his fingers through his wet hair and re-secured the towel wrapped around his wet body that suddenly felt tight in his nether regions.

“Says the man that walks in all wet and half naked wrapped in a towel?” Alexa sassily starred up at Harry with a raised eyebrow and a cheeky grin. “It’s fine, Harry.” She made sure that Harry caught her checking him out. “Really fine.”

The prince slowly shook his head and bit down on his bottom lip. He stepped in behind Alexa who was leaning over the counter applying her mascara. His hand traveled down her back slowly as his touch caused her to become breathless and focused on the sensations traveling up her spine. “Well, maybe I would have walked in sooner had I known you were dressed like this.” Without another word, he left the room leaving Alexa in a daze.

The sexual tension between them was palpable ever since they officially became a couple. Alexa knew that it was only a matter of time that she gave into her desires concerning the prince, a thought that used to terrify her but now she was craving more of him each day. After being apart for a few weeks, it made that desire that much stronger with Harry’s absence.

A few short minutes later, Harry was buttoning up his shirt when his girlfriend walked in from behind him dressed in a white off the shoulder dress with light purple and pink pastel flowers that were delicately placed. “Harry?” Alexa gathered her blonde hair to one shoulder and turned to exposed her back. “Could you zip this up for me?”

“Sure, babe.” Harry closed in the distance between them and grasped the zipper on her lower back carefully zipping it up to hide her exposed back. “I like this dress on you.” His tightened the zipper and gently moved her hair back in place.

“Awe, you are sweet Harry.” Alexa turned around to face him with a beaming smile. “I am quite excited that we get to go out for dinner.” She grabbed his shirt and helped him finish buttoning up the last few buttons. “You sure it’s ok for us to go out publically like this?” Alexa voiced her worries.

“It’s different here, babe. I can’t wait to take my girl out properly.” Harry offered a crooked grin as he looked down at his gorgeous girlfriend reminding himself of how lucky of a man he was. “You ready?”

“Uh.” Alexa glanced around the room for her bag. “I need to put on my heels, but I am all good after that.”

Harry closed his door and waited for Alexa to come around his car to grab her hand tightly. He led them down the sidewalk, passing by strangers that didn’t take a second glance at the couple. Seeing how people didn’t seem to care or were oblivious to the fact that Harry was on base made Alexa relax and become more comfortable.

“Do you like living here?” Alexa rubbed the back of Harry’s hand with her thumb to gain his attention. His blue eyes smiled as he glanced down into her green eyes peaking up at him through her dark lashes and natural make up.

“I do, Alexa.” Harry looked up along the street and breathed out. “It’s quieter here and much less noise on the fact that I am a prince.” He felt her gentle hand tighten its grip making him look down at his quiet girlfriend. “Though I hate how far it is from you.” He watched Alexa’s smile grow wider at his words.

“I can tell you like it here, even if I have only been here for a few hours.” Alexa noted as her head swiveled to look into the shops along the way.

“Ah here we are.” Harry opened the door and held it open for Alexa to walk through first. She never let go of his hand as she waited for him to catch up. Before entering the second set of doors into the restaurant, Alexa paused her steps and looked down at their entwined fingers debating whether it would be safe or not for them to walk into a public restaurant holding hands letting the world know they were a couple. Part of her welcomed the feeling that it would bring, but the other side of her screamed it was not a good idea knowing the release of her being maid of honor to Eugenie was around the corner that would place her right in the spotlight. But, she trusted Harry’s guidance and if he was ok with it, she would be too.

“No need to worry.” Harry sensed her hesitation and walked in first, leading Alexa through the entrance with a firm grasp on her hand to silently reassure the growing concern within her.

“Hello, welcome to Bua Thai.” The hostess greeted the couple with a welcoming smile. “Will there only be the two of you tonight?”

“Yes, please. Could we get seated in a corner booth please if available?” Harry asked politely.

“Absolutely. Please follow me.” The hostess grabbed a few menus and led them through to a corner booth by the window at the back of a restaurant.

Alexa sat down across from Harry and thanked the hostess. Grabbing the menu she scanned through the menu options carefully. “What do you normally get here? What’s good?” She asked for Harry’s advice.

The prince shifted in his seat and eyed the menu. “ Everything is really good, Lex. What do you think of sharing a couple plates?”

“That sounds great to me!” Alexa nodded. “Can we get the cashew chicken and pad thai? Those are my favourite.” The couple discussed a few other options and settled on the perfect dishes for their meal.

The waiter appeared and suggested a few of their specials on the menu for the evening. “Would you like some more time to look over the menu? Or are you ready to order?” He politely asked the couple.

“I think we are ready.” Harry informed the waiter.

“Perfect!” He pulled out his writing pad and pen. “What can I get you two?” The man looked towards Harry first to order, but he gave Alexa the nod to go ahead and order their dishes for them.

“We are going to share a few dishes.” Alexa started to order. “The cashew chicken, pad thai noodles, yellow curry chicken and shrimp cakes to start please.”

“Those are wonderful options! Can I get any drinks started?” The waiter grabbed the menus from off the table and took the couples drink order leaving them alone for a while.

Alexa glanced out the window staring out at the people walking along the street. Feeling a set of eyes on her, she turned her head to find Harry watching her intently with his deep blue eyes lingering on her. She tucked a piece of her blonde hair behind her ear becoming nervous from his endless gaze.

Her piercing green eyes peaked up at the prince and smiled at him. “Thank you for taking me out here.” Alexa paused and glanced back out the window. “It’s nice to be a normal couple just out for dinner.”

“I couldn’t agree more.” Harry reached across the table with his palm up asking for her hand to which Alexa gently placed it in. “I know it hasn’t been easy for you being in a relationship with me lately. It’s not the same as a normal couple.” The prince started as he watched their fingers delicately play with one another on the table. “I don’t like hiding you… hiding what we have from the world, Alexa.” Harry tried to explain his caution when it came to taking Alexa out on normal dates like other couples. “It’s not that I am ashamed of you… it’s only so we can develop this further without outside pressures hounding us. From past experience –”

“Henry…” Alexa’s soft voice interrupted him and coaxed his eyes up to see her staring at him. “You don’t have to explain all that to me. I have seen how the press has affected Eugenie and I know how awful they can be so that’s why I am ok with all of this sneaking around so to say.” Her fingers gripped Harry’s in reassurance. “I know you aren’t hiding me because you are ashamed, it’s to protect me and I love getting to know you in private without the pressure that we don’t need right now. But, this is really nice to be able to do.”

“Good, because tonight no matter how much you protest it’s my treat.” Harry narrowed his eyes at his girlfriend as she opened her mouth to do just that. “No! It’s not even up for debate Alexa.” Harry was quick to put her refute to bed.

Alexa threw her hands up in the air and giggled. “Ok, ok! But dessert is on me.”

“Maybe you will be my dessert.” Harry muttered only loud enough for Alexa to hear.

She felt the heat rise in her cheeks as they turned into a faint blush over the words Harry had spoken. “You did not just say that…” Alexa pursed her lips together attempting to stifle a laugh and hide her embarrassment hoping no one else heard Harry.

“Oh you heard me very clearly, Miss Grey.” Harry giggled watching Alexa’s cheeks become red as she hid her eyes from the prince.

The waiter entered at just the right moment bringing their ordered dishes and setting them down on the table as the aroma of the food and their hungry stomachs provided a distraction from their conversation.

“Please enjoy and let me know if you need anything else. I will bring you both new drinks.” The waiter took his leave.

“This looks amazing!” Alexa grabbed a spoon full of the cashew chicken and filled her plate. Taking a bite of her food she sunk in her seat savoring the taste and releasing a light moan. “And it tastes even better! Good choice, babe.”

“Glad, you like it.” Harry took a few bites of his food remembering why he ordered out from this restaurant more times than any other.

Harry had his girlfriend erupting in laughter from a story he was telling as they exited the Thai restaurant after their meal together. Alexa could barely keep her balance as she stumbled out the door ahead of the prince. Harry grasped her frame and steadied her gate.

“That actually happened? Or are you just pulling me along Harry?” Alexa breathed in deeply to catch her breath.

The prince blindly searched for her hand that Alexa freely offered and gripped it tight. “Cross my heart, it did.” He released one last barking laugh as they walked down the street back to their vehicle.

“Harry?” Alexa’s soft voice called his name while she tugged his hand to stop him from walking ahead further. “Can we not go back home yet?” She smiled shyly as he turned around to face her. “I really enjoyed going out for dinner and well, I think we need dessert.” Alexa found a reason for them to remain out in public as a couple.

It was a welcomed change from hiding behind the private walls of her flat or Kensington Palace. She was able to hold Harry’s hand and walk down the street with her boyfriend without a care and to Alexa that meant everything and she wanted to prolong that feeling as much as possible.

Harry pulled Alexa into his warm body and snaked his arm around her waist. “I do know a real good Italian gelato place around the corner.” The smile that grew on her lips made his heart skip a beat. He turned them around and grab her hand as his arm rested across her shoulders. “But, you are definitely paying for my gelato. My wallet is getting thin having you around.” Alexa barked a laugh and wrapped her free arm around Harry’s back as they walked to the ice cream shop.

“I guess I could buy you a single scoop.” Alexa squeezed his hip and stuck her tongue out cheekily.

The door chimed as the couple entered the small shop. Alexa took her sweet time deciding what flavor to get. “Chocolate?” Harry shook his head with light laughter. “You took all the time deciding and you chose plain old chocolate?”

“Yup!” Alexa popped a spoonful of the gelato into her mouth and savored the taste. Her eyes looked down at his overflowing bowl of gelato and sunk her spoon deep into it and took a healthy scoop, tasting his flavor.

Harry’s mouth dropped open in shock at how sneaky she was. “Oh, I see how it is!” He was about to do the same thing to her chocolate gelato, but Alexa turned her back shielding it from him.

“Oh no! Back off boyfriend!”

The door to the shop flew open and a family walked in causing Harry and Alexa to stop fooling around. “Harry?!” The little girl that led her family in recognized the prince as she came running, crashing into his legs and hugged them tight while glancing up at the prince.

“Well hello there, Molly.” Harry knelt down to the young brunette girl’s level and gave her a proper hug. Alexa watched their sweet interaction quietly, hearing footsteps behind her as the rest of Molly’s family approached.

His blue eyes glanced up to reassure Alexa that he knew the people entering the shop. Standing up, the little girl grasped his hand as he held it loosely. “Harry! Surprising seeing you here!” A tall dark haired man carrying a newborn baby with what appeared to be his wife entering behind him.

“Connor!” Harry’s face lit up with a smile as the family approached them. The man greeted Harry with a friendly hug as the brunette woman beside him locked eyes with Alexa and smiled warmly.

“Hello, I’m Leah.” She stuck her hand out and shook Alexa’s hand. “You must be Alexa.” Leah was grinning from ear to ear.

“Uh, yes I am.” Alexa politely smiled in return as she attempted to put the pieces together of how this woman knew her name. “It’s nice to meet you Leah.”

“The pleasure is all mine. We have heard so much about you!” Alexa’s smile grew as she felt Harry’s hand gently settle on the small of her back. His thumb rubbing it slowly to silently reassure her.

Alexa peaked up at the prince, staring up into his eyes with a questioning look wondering who these people were to the prince. “Alexa, this is my mate Connor. We have been taking flight training together here at the base.”

Connor firmly shook Alexa’s hand with a kind smile. “Hello, Alexa. It’s great that you were able to make it out for a few days. We were hoping that we could get the chance to meet you while you were here.”

“Thank you. That’s very kind of you.” Alexa giggled lightly. “I am so happy I was able to come as well and see where Harry spends the other half of his time.”

The little baby in Connor’s arms started to fuss, drawing Alexa’s attention. “And who might this little sweetheart be?” Her hand gently rubbed the baby’s back instantly settling him.

“This is Arlo.” Leah took the baby from her husband’s arms and proudly showed him off. “Also known as the little boob monster that keeps mommy and daddy up all night long!”

Alexa’s eyes were glued to Arlo when Molly dropped Harry’s hand and tugged on his girlfriends becoming a bit jealous of all the attention on her baby brother. “I’m Molly. Arlo is my little brother that won’t stop crying eveeeer!” Harry stifled a laugh along with the rest of the group.

“Hello Molly.” Alexa knelt down to her level and smiled. “I like your dress. Is purple your favorite color?” She turned all of her attention on Molly to make her not feel left out.

“Yes! Is it yours?” Molly grabbed the ends of her dress and swayed back and forth.

“I do like purple, but green is my favorite.” Alexa watched the little girl twirl around. “Are you going to get some ice cream?”

“Yes! What is your name? Are you friends with Harry? Come help me choose the ice cream!” Molly grabbed Alexa’s hand and pulled her over towards the counter to look at all the flavors of ice cream as Harry watched from afar holding onto Alexa’s melting gelato and delved into conversation with Connor and Leah.

“My name is Alexa.” She giggled lightly at the onslaught of questions. “I am pretty good friends with Harry.” Alexa picked Molly up in her arms helping Molly look through all the flavors as the little girl became enthralled by Alexa and tangled her fingers in Alexa’s blonde hair.

“Sorry if we interrupted anything. We didn’t know you would be here.” Leah apologized as Harry and her shared a look.

“No need to apologize, Leah.” Harry’s eyes strayed to find Alexa picking Molly up in her arms. “We went out for dinner at Bua Thai and decided we needed some dessert before heading back home.”

“Awe! A date night?” Leah exhaled. “I don’t even remember what that is like anymore.”

“Molly was begging us for some gelato tonight.” Connor sighed heavily. “She’s been having a hard time since Arlo arrived, having all the focus on him lately.” His eyes drifted to see Molly and Alexa looking through the glass at the flavors and taste testing a few samples.

“I bet.” Harry’s eyes kept a steady glance on Alexa, making sure she was alright. “We could take her and Arlo one night if you want. Alexa is here for a few days, I am sure she wouldn’t mind at all.”

“Oh no, we couldn’t ask that of you!” Leah was quick to refuse. “You two hardly get any time together as it is.”

“Ask what?” Alexa had returned with Molly and a heaping bowl of chocolate gelato.

“You coerced Molly to get chocolate didn’t you?” Harry teasingly rolled his eyes at Alexa seeing Molly’s mouth covered with chocolate.

“No!” Alexa shook her head. “She chose that on her own as a matter of fact. Some people do like plain chocolate.” She sassily replied back making Connor stifle a laugh.

“You forgot to tell us how she puts you in your place, Wales.” Connor barked a laugh as his eyes floated towards Alexa and gave her a wink. “It’s about time someone does!”

“Are you going to take Alexa to the fair while she is in town?” Leah asked with beaming eyes as Alexa peaked up at Harry silently for an answer. Harry had not mentioned anything of the sort.

“Uh, we haven’t really talked about that yet.” His blue eyes fell down looking into Alexa’s.

“Come to the fair Alexa!” Molly jumped up and down in excitement.

“You are welcome to join us tomorrow, if you would like?” Leah stroked Molly’s hair to calm her down.

Alexa felt Harry’s hand rub her back gently as they shared a silent conversation with their eyes. “I think we would love too! If you don’t mind of course?” Harry’s lips tugged into a smile at how easy Alexa accepted their invitation.

“What do you think, Molly?” Harry knelt down to her level. “Do you think it would be ok if Alexa and I took you on a few rides tomorrow?”

The beaming grin that appeared on her lips as she jumped up and down with chocolate spilled messily around her face was priceless. “Yes! Yes! Can we go on the Merry Go Round!” Alexa could not stop smiling down at the two of them together as they talked about all the rides they were going to go on.

“We will see you two tomorrow.” Leah leaned in to hug Alexa and whispered a quiet thank you in her hear for making Molly so happy. “It was so great to meet you. Maybe we can get a little chat in tomorrow without these boys around!”

Alexa nodded happily. “Yes! I would love that!”

Harry and Alexa waved goodbye to the Daniels family as they exited the ice cream shop. The prince glanced down to find Alexa’s hand and gripped it tightly. “I am sorry I didn’t say anything about the fair. I wasn’t sure if you wanted to go or not?”

“I can’t wait to go though! I don’t even remember the last time I went to a fair!” Alexa giggled with a grin. “It will be fun I think. Your friend and his family seem really sweet.”

“They really are, Lex.” Harry opened her passenger door for her. Her hand brushed up against his bare arm and trailed down it leaving a fiery sensation in its wake. Harry’s head lifted to see her green eyes sparkling as she smiled up at him.

“Thank you.” She sat down in her seat, her green eyes locked with Harry’s as they never strayed away. Closing the door he rounded the vehicle and hoped into the drivers seat. A hand immediately grasped him as he looked down at Alexa’s fingers intertwined with his as he drove off towards his home.
