Day 213:
Having gained a new perspective, I鈥檝e come to start appreciating this middle ground of Born Ruffians. Nova-Leigh is a wonderful song, with emotive lyrics and playful drumming, as well as a trippy transition-thingy which adds to the replay value immensely. Initially I felt the buildup dragged on for too long, but now I think it is suitable and wonderful, with the drumming weaving itself in beautifully. I also feel the lyrics are well thought out and carry a lot of feeling and emotion behind each word. The only qualm I really have with this song is that it sounds a little empty, due to the instruments mostly playing the same thing throughout the song (don鈥檛 get me started on the keyboard). But looking past that qualm you have a wonderful song straight from Luke Lalonde to you.
Tell the night I鈥檓 not sleeping. I鈥檒l be tired when I鈥檓 dead. Get me up, roll me over, I鈥檓 feeling upset. I start feeling the sunlight on my legs, on my face. Get me up, roll me over. I鈥檓 feeling okay.

Day 212:
Grass is a very emotive creation by the wonderful Animal Collective. Whether it's through the lyrics, the instruments or the vocal melody, Grass seems to always tap into me and speak to me on a whole new level. Whether it's the disgruntled shouting during the chorus in combination with the coarser change in drumming contrasting against the pleasant 'oooowooo' that adds an element of sanity to the whole situation, or the pleasant lyrical flow after the second chorus complimented by more 'ooooo's', this song will always be moving to me. I've rambled about the lyrics multiple times, but look them up yourself, because they are perfect.
Pretty little femur sitting in my cherry dream boat, I'd be sad if you rejected from my hip bone to my knee. Sail away from continents, and touch my lover's hair there. You'd be very happy if I touched her there.

Day 211:
Foals. I should not promote them too much but they have such a cool sound. XXXXX has a really cool sound too, and while it is just an opening song, it's bloody amazing. Watching videos of it being performed live is just breathtaking. I don't know how to describe it other than an awesome build up that builds up to an awesome build up, and then some really catchy duets. I just love this song, man.
Listen to every version of this song you can find.

Day 210:
This song gives off such amazing vibes. I was introduced to Lime Cordiale and this song by my close friend, and I originally thought 'hah what a cute song'. I feel like a prick for thinking that now, because I love this song so much now. The song starts off very happily with a swinging beat and such an amazing vocal melody. After a short breather after the first verse the song because twice as awesome, which would seem impossible. The second vocalist that enters (sorry I don't know your name) has a voice that shakes things up and excites me whenever I hear it. The song takes a sexy turn from 'we could make some sweet babies'聽which is an interesting thing to do. Then the song kinda repeats that chorus format for the rest of the song, which is alright, but they could do so much more. I'm satisfied though, because the song is already pretty damn tight and uplifting and I'm surprised at how coherent the vocals are. I can understand words! I wanna buy some Lime Cordiale before I listen to any more, but for now, Make Your Mind Up is a ripper of a song. I'm really sad though, because Lime Cordiale is playing nearby next month but, y'know, age restrictions :'(
Yo! Me and the boys, we were just chillin', but I got up first cos my ass was killin'.

Day 209:
I like this song very much. It gives me the vibe that it was written while Luke Lalonde (strangely enough, he's playing a bass in this song instead of a guitar) was in high school and learning about dictators. This song is very simple and it slowly builds up. So slowly, in fact, that it feels like the intro is half the song. Although Lalonde may struggle to hit some of the notes in the song, his voice still manages to sound so beautiful. The reason for this is that lyrics convey quite a lot of emotion, which makes every note he hits more impacting. There's really not much else to say about this song except that it's a rough recording, which I think helps make it more meaningful. Overall, Mr. Agnostic is quite a pretty song and shows you that songs that are done in few takes can still be excellent.
We've got spite, revenge and greed. But they still don't know how to read.

Day 208:
Undying love. I have an undying love for this song. This song is still super favourable when I think about good Foals songs. I know I should shut up about Foals, and I probably will, but DAMN this song is good. The drumming in this song is perfect, I don't know any other way of describing it. The verse drumming is quite a beautiful spectacle to even thin about, while the chorus is also a basket off energy. Even the post-chorus and the breakdown are breathtaking. Just... listen to the drumming in the song if you haven't heard it and you'll get what I mean. The only bad thing is Jack Bevan does different drumming live, so that makes me sad. The second verse is very well done too, by the slow inclusion on all the instruments, and then a bassline change, which makes everything somehow fresh. The lyrics aren't concise or about anything in particular except revolving around the theme of maths, which is what I'm totally into. I could rattle on about this song for ages, but I'll just say that all the instruments make a beautiful song and THE DRUMMING OMG.
COSINE WAVE. COSINE WAVE SINE WAVE SINE WAVE. WAVE TO WAVE. COSINE WAVE. COSINE WAVE SINE WAVE TO SURDS. SURDS AND SURDS. COSINE WAVE. COSINE WAVE SINE WAVE SINE WAVE. WAVES TO SURDS. WAVES TO SURDS. WAVES TO SURDS TO SURDS TO SURDS TO SURDS.

Day 207:
Animal Collective is quite the band. We Tigers definitely shows how much energy they are capable of. The single tom that beats throughout the whole song makes the song come alive, as silly as that sounds. The lyrics in this song are quite varied and the way the vocals blend together is quite fascinating. The woop woop is very catchy and it gets you chanting it randomly throughout the day, which I recommend you do not do unless you want weird looks from friends. The chorus is where everything is released and a crazy mixture of chants, shouts and energy and it sounds remarkable. This song is quite short, but in it you can see what Animal Collective are and what they're all about. If you want to show someone Animal Collective, this is where I think you should start.
But I'm a noisy singer, singing out at dinner, dinners are much stranger now.

Day 206:
After being a pretty strong follower of Bloc Party for quite some time, Kele's desire for a path down a more dance-orientated musical direction seem pretty funny to me. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it just seemed really odd. Then again, some of Bloc Party's songs are pretty dance orientated (while some are obvious, like Flux, others are a good mix, like Price of Gasoline). Anyway, Doubt. I don't know how to correctly view this song, because it is a dance song, and I'm not dancing to it at 12:30am. So I guess for now I'll just view it musically (how boring). The song has a very good beat, and the octave based riff is pretty neat too. The vocal melody may sound odd at first, but it actually works, and it even sounds good! Wow! I'm having a bit of a problem as I'm viewing this song too ironically, but I do legitimately enjoy it. The lyrics do tumble around each other, and as a bonus it sounds catchy too. The "chorus" is where this song truly does shine, because that's where you pull off all your swell dance moves and woo the ladies/gentlemen. Overall I do enjoy this song even if my dancing is akin to the lyrics of The Wombats. My friend and I do end up parodying this song quite a lot, but we mean it no harm. As this is a dance song, it does drag on quite a bit, but what can you do besides dance, right? Guys?
Sometimes... I doubt. But then I get down on one knee. I get down on one knee, and I pray.

Day 205:
This is gonna be kinda short. The first song on The Experiment, the vocals in this song sound nice, even if they are edited. The harmonies are well done and the lyrics suit it quite well. The song has some nice points, specifically the structure and the chord change, but I do feel the ending does drag on slightly. The chorus, however, is a nice blend of all the elements in the song. The drumming changes to suit it, the sounds are not too complex, but they're catchy. Overall, Finally See Our Way is a nice intro to the album, but it's repetitiveness is only a merit for those who are a big fan of vocals.
When love is so kind you would fill me up, and we could finally see our way.

Day 204:
One of the few things that boosts my happiness currently, Gold Gold Gold is a very weird song. The song puts you mind in a translucent fantastical state that plucks all the emotion you currently hold and keeps it hollow. The seemingly unimaginative vocal melody reinforces this, feeling robotic and repetitive, while the lyrics seem to have no attachment to each other, just being phrases openly being said. That gives Gold Gold Gold charm in my opinion. This song also does something wonderful besides casting your thoughts away. At 2:46 it fills your mind with only good thoughts as a amazing riff is played. After a short while the drumming completely changes, turning the riff into a heroic feeling of power and security as the riff is played at three different octaves. It is truly a feeling of comfort, and it motivates you by turning your negatives to positives. The song then goes back to the monotonous repeating of the vocal tones, but now you're compelled to sing along, even if you don't know the words. I may not know the meaning of Gold Gold Gold, but I do know that it helps improve my mood, which is always a good thing.
I am a rocket, I am a rocket. You are an anchor, you are an anchor. Down.

Day 203:
Want to add some mystique to your life? Moonjock is you ticket. The opening song on Centipede Hz, this song starts with assorted voices to a time signature that's hard to wrap your hand around but still arouses your interest. As always, the vocal melody is beautiful and compliments the song well, especially during the chorus. I can't really grasp the meaning of this song, but it does seem to be reminiscing about youth. I still like the lyrics though. The bridge of the song changes the time signature and therefore the rhythm, and it's weird. It makes up for this with the ending, however, where a burst of energy does come out and the vocal melody really shines. Overall, as with the songs over the last 4 days, I have a soft spot for Moonjock, mainly for its vocal melody. Check it out.
And then in the nighttime you'll sleep. WHAT?!?

Day 202:
While I am a big fan of Alter Ego, I have a very soft spot for Expectation. The lyrics are quite appealing, as they usually are in a Tame Impala song, and the effects which make Tame Impala potent aren't absent. To me, the greatness of this song comes in its time signature. The verse is in 3/4, and the combination on drumming, bass and guitar all manipulate that time signature into a beautiful sounding creature. The chorus however, goes into 6 chords which are evenly played before repeating. So three measures of 4/4 are played. Yeah. If I haven't mentioned the drumming yet, I should, because it's pretty well crafted. The melodies present are also very good, especially the vocals. The second chorus, which fades in as well as fades out, really only hits you when you're in a mood, but it does leave a thought in your mind, which is good. The post-song song is a nifty thing, but really nothing more. Overall, my personal favourite Tame Impala song does hold up very well and I do enjoy it when it comes up, but it does fall short in some places. I do <3 it though.
Every now and then, it feels like, in all of the universe there is nobody for me.

Day 201:
I'm gonna spend a really long time talking about this song. Firstly let's get to the cookie cutter basics. The intro. The way it combines strumming and snare to make that sense of strength is just beautiful to me. Next up, it is one of the most beautiful Sea Wolf songs ever created. The dingles and shingles that play throughout the entire song except the chorus and the bridge add vibrant tones and beauty to the song. The drumming in this song starts off its first verse commandingly by lacking the snare, which adds a sense of building-up. Immediately after the first chorus the snare gives the song a backbone and oh shit does it become even greater. I'm a little too sleepy to hear if the melody riff being played is coming from a guitar or a keyboard, but judging how there's already a guitar playing I will assume it's a keyboard. Anyway, the notes being played from that melody suit this song well. They don't stray far from the notes in the key, but there's always a distinct note to be heard every time it's played. The ever-present string section is here too, albeit briefly, and well it adds a nice touch. The guitar, while just chords, have beautiful variations when strummed by Alex Brown Church. Speaking about Alex Brown Church, his voice has that hidden skill of sounding like your thoughts. Seriously, I'm still amazed it happens, and it's a recurring theme throughout this album. The lyrics intertwine themselves together beautifully and it truly gets you curious about what they really mean. My favourite thing about Bergamot Morning is that the first chord in the chorus has such a contrast from the rest of the song. It's truly something that's beautiful. Just like you.
And the copper sings its misty warning, Brings me back to this bergamot morning. Yesterday's sorrow, it's misty warning. Gives way to a glistening bergamot morning.

Day 200:
New Year and dual centennial. This song has warmed itself up to me quite a bit, even though I haven't thought highly of it before. The part which I can only describe as "Starts at 0:21" is without a doubt very catchy and gets you wanting to dance even when you're typing up pointless musical analyses at 1:30am. The verse, unfortunately, is boring and doesn't hold you like the vocal melody does in the chorus. Fortunately the verse doesn't hold out for long. One thing that is badass though is the breakdown. It makes you feel so badass due to new chords being introduced and sensual tones from the vocals. The lyrics in this breakdown are pretty cool. Then Chuck Inglish comes in. His rapping sounds very good and chilled, but what is he rapping about? It seems like pancakes. The keyboard in this song is quite immaculate and the techno parts don't seem to enhance the song, which is very odd for a Lemaitre song. The guitar is what makes the song for me though, sounding so sensual. This song is good fun, and should be played at parties more.
Struggling for direction just to find I am lazy. Oh, I'm right here right now, where I want to be. Searching for the answers just to find I am crazy. Oh, I'm right here right now.

Day 199:
I'm back. It's been a year and three days since I created this account and I skipped over at least a third of the year, so my humblest of humble apologies. I'm sorry please forgive me. Anyway Late Night. One of the more haunting songs on Holy Fire, Late Night differs from the traditional Foals setup because a keyboard is the main focus instrumentally. The chord change is nothing too special to write about, but it still gets the job done because Jimmy Smith and Edwin Congreave do manipulate the song to make it enticing. I'm kinda disappointed with how tame the drumming is in this song, but it lets you focus on the vocals, which are they main point of this song. The lyrics are plentiful and meaningful, and the buildup which was made famous from Spanish Sahara is here as well, and boy is it strong. Holding those vocals in that high E to A area (if you don't know what that means, grab a guitar, play the highest-sounding string, and the note at the 5th fret at that string) as well as the long and emotive Stay with me afterwards is very enticing and a good thing to hear when you're feeling down.
And I know the place but not the way, I feel I feel no shame. Oh now mama do you hear my fear? It's coming after me. It's calling out your name.

Day 198:
Wow I'm incredibly loose nowadays. Sorry, I just need to get more motivated towards what I'm doing and I'll do it. Anyway, here is Brazil Is Here, which is about two months overdue. This song doesn't really suit the style that Foals set up on Antidotes, which is why it is a bonus track. It feels like a fun tribal song, if I can say that without people looking weirdly at me. The singing is really cool, and the sounds are sometimes surreal. It's a cool song. There isn't really that much to say about this song other than it's different, so yeah. It's different.
One life raft awaits, everyone. One life raft awaits, everyone. One life raft awaits, everyone. One life raft awaits, everyone. One life raft awaits, everyone. One life raft awaits, everyone. Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh, volcano.
