“I would love that, thank you. Athena, yes that is a name of a strong horse, seems like,” she smirked. “I’ll be careful of her,” she looked down at the ducklings once more, smiling a bit more at them as she gently scratched one under the chin. “Such little cuties,” she cooed, a soft giggle leaving her lips as she shook her head.
“The cutest, can I just hug them all, I told you now I’d never want to leave!” She laughed. “How do the fare in the New York cold?” she hummed, “They seem to be doing okay now.”
Scrunching her nose, she giggled more, giving Donald a small kiss. “Good, because I like them a lot,” Smiling at the duck kisses, she tilted her head, closing her eyes, laughing softly. Smiling back to Jeremy, she pressed a kiss to his cheek. “Thank you for sharing them with me, they really brightened my mood.”
‘‘Feel free to hug them all. They like getting hugs and kisses.’‘ Jeremy said as he smiled at them. And while he usually was the only one to do so, his mother gave them the odd pat and kiss. Only because Jeremy said that they were technically her grand children.
‘‘They do fine. In fact this is where they were hatched.’‘ Jeremy pointed over to a place in front of the lake not far away from them. It wasn’t that long ago when they hatched. As they were still just little duckies.
A smile appeared on his face when she kissed his cheek. The only other woman who did that was his mother. And he couldn’t help but be reminded of her. As she usually also gave him cheek kisses whenever he helped her. ‘‘It’s alright, I think they like meeting new people. So I should be thanking you.’‘ He said with a happy smile. Jeremy picked up Huey gently and gave him a peck on the head. Then he stretched out his arms so Huey was in front of her so she could pick him up.

“Five options. You really do have your hands full,” she mused, leaning forward to see the notes and smirking. She really did admire his ambitiousness. Most days she could barely handle her job at the bookstore and whatever random tasks Mae threw at her. She really only made enough money to live and as her father would see it, “Waste her life away”.
Fine, she thought, tossing away thoughts of her father. I’ll prove him wrong.
She leaned in closer to look closely at his notes. Hm…a battery that could last forever. Intriguing. She snatched the notes from him and looked a bit closer.
“Interesting concept. Very ambitious.” She flipped through the notes some more. “Few questions, though. How close to a sellable product are they? And are you okay with the fact that the end product is somethin’ that’s supposed to last forever? Y’know that the way of the future is making things that only last a couple years so that people have to come back and buy from you again, right? You’d make more money that way.”
‘‘They sell lots of things, they have a web shop. But this would be their first physical store.’‘ At her next question he shook his head in disagreement. ‘‘Quality over quantity. Also I doubt anyone is just going to buy one of them. Different products require different types of batteries. They already told me that they’ll sell different models because of that reason. Also most people have multiple electronics which require batteries, meaning that most people will buy multiple batteries.'’
‘‘Aperture Science is an electronics company. Only a small portion of their funds goes to that project. This project is just the closest to being done, so that’s the one they showed me. They also showed me something else, but I’m not sure how sellable that will be.’‘ Jeremy thought about the concept gun they showed. While he was impressed. It wasn’t something they could just sell.
‘‘From what I could see from their webshop and the products they showed me. They sell high quality products, they’re also very ambitious. Although I’m not sure how sellable all these products will be. But I know that beside those ambitious products, that they’re capable of producing every day electronics.’‘
Jeremy smiled at Pearl hoping that she could give him her opinion about the company. ‘‘What do you think about the company, ma’am?’‘

Jeremy doesn’t have a twitter account, but if he had he would only post videos of his ducklings. Sometimes he would post pictures of his horses to change things up, but they’re not as popular.

Gordon slid the deck of cards up his sleeve, raising one eyebrow as he looked at Jeremy intently, tilting his head as he grinned, his smile slant. If he were completely honest, he had no idea what he was doing. Not in the slightest. He was merely stalling for time as he thought of what he could possibly pull off - nothing.
Jeremy didn’t have to know; nobody had to; Gordon himself didn’t.
His hands combed through his hair, quaffing it into place as he half-gazed between the other and the building’s glass panes. “So, Rockefeller, tell me about yourself. You handle business affairs or paralegal. Oh, don’t tell me. With your young face, you’re drafting contracts, aren’t you?” He looked at his nails, smoothening the edges like they were diamonds. “Who do you work for?”
Jeremy tilted his head as the other put away the deck of cards. He looked at the card before looking back at him, and decided to just hold it until the other was ready to show what he was planning.
Jeremy shook his head at the other’s guess. ‘‘No, I’m currently in the process of choosing a new leaseholder for the newly opened location on Rockefeller Centre.’‘ The deadline was still pretty far away, so he hasn’t decided yet. ‘‘Also I get to choose the design of this new mall we’re opening in Los Angeles.’‘ Actually it was his brother who got trusted with that decision, but just this morning as an apology he decided that Jeremy could pick. He already saw some designs and they were all lovely, but one of them stood out and he hoped that he could pick that one.
‘‘I, I don’t know how to explain this, sir, but I guess you can say I work for my parents?’‘ Jeremy half asked. Seeing as he didn’t actually have a job, they just gave him small tasks.

Ha. Ha. Ha. It started off as stray chuckles, nothing more than nervous laughter. But within the minute, Gordon’s abdomen began to cramp, folding over himself as he uncontrollably succumbed to laughter. H-aha–hAhah. He placed his palms to his temple to center himself, gasping for a breath as his eyes widened over Jeremy’s face.
“You don’t know who the Great Griffin is?” Gordon wiped the tears away in his eyes, hiccuping as his chest rose in and out, his throat leftover with small bubbles of laughter. “How is that possible.” He brushed Jeremy’s chin with a finger playfully before he pulled back, cracking his knuckles. From his pocket, he impossibly pulled out a deck of cards, shuffling it in his hand and fanning it out. “Choose one. Any card.”
Jeremy looked at the older man in confusion as he started laughing. And in concern when he didn’t stop laughing. ‘‘I’m sorry, sir.’‘ Jeremy said with a soft sad voice. Feeling like he did something wrong, even though he didn’t. The look of concern stayed on his face until the other made a deck of cards appear out of nowhere. Instead a look of surprise and amazement shining in his eyes took over.
‘‘That was amazing.’‘ He said excited with a matching smile. For a while one of his brothers was into magic and would perform silly little tricks like making bunnies appear out of hats. Jeremy loved it, even if the bunnies were plushies, in fact he still has them.
When the other asked him to pick a card he took a second before he took one out. He looked at the card, the king of diamonds. Of course he didn’t show the other that.

“Oh!” She laughed softly with his words. “Five horses! That’s amazing, I haven’t ridden in awhile, but I’ve always loved horses, they are one of my favorite animals,” She smirked slightly staring down at Huey in her hands still. “I am sure they are, horses can be independent just a bit though, they are majestic creatures, that’s for sure. Awe, are you little ones clingy? They are cute though so it makes up for it,” she smirked, gently nudging Jeremy.
“Awe, no stop, you’re going to make me want to never leave!” She laughed again, biting her lip as she stared down at the little ones again.
“Okay, let’s sit,” she smirked, following him towards the blanket, keeping a safe distance till Jeremy was settled and the ducks were all settled as well, in front him like a little school room. Sitting next to him she set Huey into the group, moving to gently pet Donald. “They are so precious, I already love them all,” she smiled, finally looking to Jeremy fully as she bit her lip.
‘‘If you want to, you can come over? They’re really nice so I’m sure they won’t mind you. Although I would stay away from Athena, she’s not very good with strangers.’‘ His mother told him about the time his brother brought a friend with him so they could ride the horses in the backyard, let’s just say it didn’t end pretty. ‘‘They definitely are, and it definitely does.’‘
Jeremy smiled proudly. ‘‘They are cute aren’t they.’‘ He said as he looked through his pictures.
Jeremy smiled at Lily’s comment before gently picking up Donald. ‘‘They like you too.’‘ He said as he lifted the small duck to Lily’s face. Where he carefully moved Donald closer to her face so his beak touched her cheek. ‘‘See,’‘ he said as he pulled Donald away. And he softly gave a quick peck to Donald before looking at Lily with a smile.

When Jeremy confessed the unimaginable - cut him off for a crew who didn’t even point a camera at him - Gordon felt like he was in some some alternate dimension where his feverish nightmares were coming to bite him in the ass. Was this some specific karmic retribution for not tipping the other night? He’d spent the last few years building his name, his sleek image, only to have it go completely ignored here. Either it was that these people knew nothing about having fun… or his publicity team needed the axe.
Gritting his teeth, trying to keep it low, Gordon crossed his arms. He merely looked at Jeremy as he extended an arm, quirking an eyebrow, grunting. “Was that a prank? Hah.” A sudden burst of laughter flew from his lips. “You’re hilarious, kid. Knock it off. C’mon. You know who I am.”
As Gordon’s eyes ran up and down Jeremy’s form, he reconsidered his words. Why… why did he feel like such an asshole - Gordon never had those considerations floating around in his mind, but with Jeremy before him, it was almost impossible to be angry. Still, Gordon was awe-struck dumb that Jeremy hadn’t known who he was.
Gordon shook his hand, his expression carefully neutral. “What, do you not watch television or something. Go out to see shows?”
Jeremy tilted his head at the man’s question. But he understood what the other meant when he asked him to stop. With a sorry look he looked at the stranger in front of him. Maybe he mistook him for someone else? Which made the whole situation kind of sad. ‘‘I’m sorry sir, but I really don’t know who you are.’‘ He said as he shook his head. Jeremy hated disappointing people, even when they just met.
When he finally shook his hand and asked his question the confusion came back full force. ‘‘I don’t watch that much television.’‘ Almost never actually. ‘‘I’m not sure what you mean with that. Would you mind explaining it to me, sir?’‘ He asked when the other mentioned shows. He obviously didn’t mean tv-shows, or it would be very redundant. But he didn’t know what the other meant with that.

“You have quite the collection of animals, it would seem.” He mused aloud, watching the younger male. He couldn’t figure out why he enjoyed the man’s company. Perhaps it was because of his quirks, or perhaps it was because he saw some part of himself. The younger side, the more innocent part, of himself.
“They’re gentle giants. They like to think that they’re lapdogs and will prove it to you given the chance. In my past, I’ve owned a few and they’ve all gotten along with other animals. They could be a good addition to your small farm.” He smiled, and nodded over at him as he began to speak but the tidbit about 6 years made his head tilt ever so slightly.
“6 years? Were you homeschooled or did you work from home?” His tone suggested that those two options were the only ones that could make any sense, obviously. Why would a young man live his life at home alone unless there was a good reason?
Jeremy smiled at the other’s comment. They weren’t all his, although he definitely was the one who spends the most time with them. After the people who took care of them of course.
He thought about telling Ryder the story about his duckies, but decided not to. Because his question caught him off guard. ‘‘I told you this last time we’ve met, remember mister West?‘‘ He doesn’t remember how they got to the topic. But he did remember telling him about it, in Russian. And he wasn’t actually sure if he told the story right either. Before those six years he wasn’t allowed to go outside either. But he used to sneak out. At least that’s what he thought, as he found out not that long ago that he never left family property whenever he ‘left’. So he technically never left. And that’s probably why his parents were alright with it. At least for awhile.
And that’s when it hit him. ‘‘Do, do you speak Russian, mister West?’‘ He asked softly. Afraid to hear the answer.

Gordon was practically medicated on attention - he always enjoyed the long lines at the stage door, grinning dumbly at everyone and stretching the conversations into the night. The best part was that they all knew who he was and he hadn’t even a clue or inkling of their names, of their lives. It felt oh-so-powerful. Gordon loved it.
But as he loitered around the Rockefeller Center, fresh out of a business meeting, he’d felt so unrecognized. The assistant hadn’t known his stage name; the new investors hadn’t dropped their jaws when they shook his head; there wasn’t a damn banner welcoming him as he walked into the room.
He’d sulked out of the meeting like a little child.
Gordon swanned up to the nearest person, leaning against the wall and clicking his teeth, raising his eyebrow. “Sup,” he said to the kid, grinning. “It’s your lucky day. Tell me, do you want an autograph or a selfie? I know that’s all the rage nowadays. So what’ll it be?”
Today Jeremy accompanied one of his older brothers to a business meeting. Not because he was particularly interested in the meeting, but because afterwards he got to hang out with his brother. Something he hasn’t done in a long time. At least that was the plan until his brother got called for an emergency meeting. And because the first meeting was boring Jeremy decided to wait somewhere else. That’s how he found himself strolling around Rockefeller Centre.
He hasn’t been outside for that long until someone greeted him. ‘‘Good afternoon.’‘ Jeremy greeted back with a smile. However that smile turned into a look of utter confusion as the stranger continued talking. ‘‘I’m so sorry sir but,’‘ How was someone supposed to react to that? ‘‘I have no idea who you are.’‘ Was it normal for strangers to give other strangers their autograph? And what was a selfie supposed to be?
Jeremy was about to ask those questions when someone started talking to him. ‘‘Mister Rockefeller, I’m from Forbes magazine. Could you give us some information about the upcoming shopping centre in Los Angeles?’‘ Asked a lady holding a microphone accompanied by a man holding a camera.
With a sorry look on his face Jeremy shook his head. ‘‘I’m sorry, ma’am, but any information about that project is confidential until next month.’‘ His parents told him to say that to anyone who asked. It took all he had to not look nervous, but he wasn’t used to being filmed. Luckily for him they took his answer and left after saying goodbye.
Jeremy let out an inaudible sigh. It’s then that he realized that he was still talking to someone. ‘‘Oh, excuse me for that.’‘ He said with a smile. '’Oh eh excuse me for my manners, my name is Jeremy Rockefeller. It’s nice to meet you, sir.’‘ Jeremy said before stretching out his arm for a handshake. Hoping that he would get to know the strangers name and why he offered those things.

“Great! I can’t wait,” she chuckled biting her lip some as she looked back down to the ducklings, a soft smiling falling on her lips as she hugged her jacket tighter. “I understand, not really I don’t have any pets, but it makes sense, that pet’s would need attention, some more than others, especially babies,” she giggled some. “I’ll give them all the extra attention I can, they are just so cute,” she smirked.
“Tons!” She laughed softly, shivering slightly as she moved to look at his phone again. Relishing the warmth of their close proximity.
“Oh, oh gosh, so cute!” She laughed, shaking her head. “You know you’re cute huh?” She looked down at their feet, smirking. “Did you have a place you were sitting? I’m scared I might step on the little guys.”
Jeremy smiled back at her, happy that she was so excited. ‘’I do, other than these here I have five horses.’’ A pattern started to show. He had five ducklings, five horses, and hopefully one day five puppies. ‘’They’re quite affectionate, but not as clingy as these here.’’ He said as he looked down at the ducklings who were swarming around his feet.
‘’I have way too many videos.’’ He said as he showed her another one. This time it was of Louie, who fell asleep before waking up again.
‘’Yeah, I was sitting there.’’ Jeremy looked towards the blanket on the grass. Carefully he stood up and took a big step backward to not stand on one of them. And while walking backward he walked to the blanket. The ducklings quickly followed him and Jeremy made sure to walk slow enough while keeping his distance so none of them could get hurt. Once they reached the blanket Jeremy sat down, the five little ducklings settled down in front of him, as if they were in class. A class for little duckies.

This was the last thing he needed. Some innocent little idiot running around, trying to help. Carlos was out of control at that moment, his powers not doing anything that he wanted. He should’ve been used to it, with the amount of people who had died under his influence. But the aftermath still left him feeling pathetic and weak.
He tried to focus, hoping to get into Jeremy’s head, give him a desire to walk in front of traffic or something, but it just caused him pain. He flinched, wiping the blood from his nose. After a few moments he looked up, glaring at Jeremy. “You’re out late, Jeremy. You could run into someone dangerous.” There was a hint of malice in his voice, as if he was warning the man, even if he could do jackshit to hurt him at that moment.
His hands were shaking as he tried to maintain some control. It was difficult to focus on anything with a migraine pulsating through his head and blood still dripping from his nose. “I don’t need your help.”
The malice in the other’s voice didn’t hit Jeremy as it was the first time he heard someone talk like that. Instead to him the other sounded worried and it made him shake his head. ‘’Don’t worry about me, mister Cross. I’ll be fine.’’ He said with a small smile. Jeremy wasn’t stupid, he knew that his chauffeur was also his bodyguard. He quickly glanced at the black car that moved closer. It only took a subtle shake of his head to stop, as it was code that he was alright.
When the other started bleeding panic kicked in. He fished his handkerchief out of his pocket and kneeled before Carlos. Deciding to ignore the other’s refusal for help. As he definitely needed help. It reminded him of his brothers when they said they didn’t need his help. Which they always needed or they wouldn’t come to him. Gently he wiped away the blood. But it didn’t stop. So he pinched the other’s nose with the handkerchief, to subtly hurt him while it looked like he was just wiping away more blood. Instantly the blood stopped flowing from his nose and unknowingly he also took away Carlos’ migraine.
Jeremy took a look at his white handkerchief that was covered in blood. So he took Carlos’ hand and placed it in it. ‘’You can keep it.’’ Jeremy said to break the silence. As he leaned back he realized what he has done. He had healed him without thinking. So he decided to change the, unsaid, subject. ‘’Do you need a ride home, mister Cross?"

Lily laughed softly. “I don’t know if I can fit them all in my arms! But I want to hug them all,” she smiled softly looking down at Huey in her arms. Letting her nose nuzzle against his soft feathers. “Good, because I’m going to hug them all,” she murmured, a small smile on her face. “I bet they can be, but if you ever need any help, count me in, they are too adorable to pass up,” she laughed softly, wriggling her nose as Huey, grinning more. “I’ve never felt so happy in my life,” she uttered. Nodding as he asked if she wanted to see a video. Moving closer to him, she felt herself press against him, just a little bit, to look at his phone. “Oh, oh! They are so cute!” She laughed again. “Look at them, oh gosh, smiling as she showed Huey the video. “Look, it’s you,” she smirked. Slowly setting him down on the ground. “Anymore video’s?” She finally looked up to Jeremy.
‘’Sounds good to me.’’ Jeremy smiled at her offer. He couldn’t always be with them, even if he wanted to. And he noticed they were a lot clingier after he left for a while. While he made sure to visit them at least once a day, that wasn’t always possible. Even if he didn’t have any responsibilities. ‘’I try to spend as much time as I can with them, but sometimes that’s not enough.’’ Ever since he got out of the house again his parents took him to those fancy restaurants again. But now he also had to endure their press conferences. Luckily all he had to do was smile for the camera. ‘’I’m sure they’ll love the extra attention.’’
When she asked him for more videos his smile widened. ‘’I have tons of videos.’’ He chuckled, maybe he had too many. But he couldn’t help himself. They were just too adorable, and this way they would always be with him.
‘’This is Donald trying to fly.’’ Jeremy couldn’t help but let out a giggle. Donald just looked so adorable. ‘’Or shaking off the water, I can’t tell.’’ He said with a thoughtful smile.

carloscrossed:
The city was dark. It was past midnight and the only people left on the streets were drunks and criminals. Carlos wanted to pretend he wasn’t part of either group, but the latter was definitely where he belonged. He was dressed uncharacteristically, usually so suave and clean. Instead he wore dark jeans and an old black hoodie, the hood pulled down low as he walked, hiding the blood on his face.
It was obvious that he was exhausted, the usual confidence in his walk was not there. He was shaky, silent and definitely avoiding any eye contact. After hours spent with a target, he finally wore them down and they had pointed a gun at their own head. The person didn’t matter to him. Their life meant nothing to him, except a paycheck. But so much time spent in someone’s head still took a toll on him. He tended to lose control of his powers for some time afterwards, at least until he had a proper rest. There was a strange kind of pain that crept into his head like a migraine.
He rested against a wall for just a few moments, catching his breath. He could feel a nosebleed coming on and he knew that he needed to get home. He pulled his eyes from the ground for a moment to see someone who had stopped in front of him. “Keep fucking walking.”
It was way too late for Jeremy to walk outside by himself. And technically he wasn’t as a car was following him to make sure he was alright. Just far enough to make him feel independent but close enough that they could help him when needed. This is how Jeremy walked the streets of New York for a couple of hours. Nothing bothering him and nobody talking to him, but he didn’t care as he started to like the silence.
Because now he could fill up the silence with his own thoughts. What would dogs say if they could talk? What do birds think? If robots had feelings will they be allowed to marry each other? If not, why? And if yes, how would such a marriage look like? Would my future self appreciate the choices I made today? Will time travel ever happen? Do my ducklings miss me? Because I sure miss them.
He was so lost in his thoughts that he almost didn’t notice someone sitting on the ground. And if it wasn’t for the fact that he recognized him he wouldn’t have stopped. Despite the less than welcome greeting Jeremy smiled. A small smile to show he cared. Because he always wanted to help if someone got hurt. ‘’Good evening, mister Cross. Is there anything I can do for you?’’ It was obvious that the other wasn’t alright and he tried to not ask but. ‘’Is everything alright with you?’’ He couldn’t help himself.

“Hello little duckies,” she hummed, staring at the small animals in awe. Holding out her hand for one, as it seemed cautious at first, but eased towards her. She moved to gently rub under it’s beak. “Ahhh, a Donald duck fan huh?” She chuckled. “I really liked DuckTales, and I know Huey, Dewey and Louie were in that,” she smiled as she slowly stood. Gently taking Huey in her hands.
“Hi there sweetie, oh, you’re just so precious,” she uttered softly, pressing a soft kiss to his soft feathers. “They are so cute, I want to hug them all!” She laughed softly, looking to Jeremy again as she smiled. “You did an amazing thing taking them in, I’m sure you’re a very good duckling father,” she smirked gently petting Huey in her hands.
Jeremy smiled at her comment. His father actually was a fan of Donald Duck which resulted in him being surrounded by Donald Duck plushies as a kid. And while he couldn’t say he liked all the comics or tv-shows, he did like Donald Duck as he reminded him of his childhood.
‘’You can.’’ Jeremy picked up Daffy before giving him a soft kiss on his head. ‘’They like being hugged.’’ And to prove it Daffy turned towards him expecting another kiss. When he didn’t get one he hoped towards him as much as he could. With a smile Jeremy gave in and gave another kiss. ‘’Thank you, sometimes they’re a handful, but I love them.’’ The remaining ducklings on the ground were trying to jump on his lap. So to be fair he placed Daffy back on the ground before petting all of them. ‘’I have some videos if you want to see.’’ He fished his phone out of his pocket. Showing her a video of the duckies in a big bathtub. The bathtub had a tiny slide made just for the ducks, and happily the little duckling slide of it.
