Dean Winchester 4x22: Hey so I sold my soul, died horribly, and spent 40 years in hell to save my brother. Now, he’s betrayed me, gaslighted me, manipulated me, undermined me, and chosen a demon over me. Also, he’s addicted to demon blood and ins’t willing to get clean. I don’t know how we’re gonna come back from this, and I’m worried I’ve lost what’s left of my family forever and it’s wrecking hell on my PTSD and fragile mental health. I could really use a little support.
Bobby Singer 4x22: “You stupid, stupid son of a bitch! Well, boo hoo! I am so sorry your feelings are hurt, princess! Are you under the impression that family's supposed to make you feel good, make you an apple pie, maybe? They're supposed to make you miserable! That's why they're family!”
It never stops being amazing to me that this is probably the most egregious dismissal of Dean’s feelings by a father figure that we ever see in this show. If John had been the one to say “you weepy little bitch, your pain and trauma are specifically less important than not making Sam feel bad for his shitty behavior at his big, grown age” you all never would have stopped talking about what an irredeemable piece of shit that made him, and YOU’D HAVE BEEN RIGHT.

Tuesdays have been my day off lol summer. On a schedule where I work every other weekend, Tuesdays have become the only day of the week I can consistently get everything I need to done throughout the week.
Today is the last week of Camp where I work, and my boss asked me - by his own admission at the last possible second - to come in and work today. I said yes, because it’s my last week, and because there was a big mail project I was excited to get done this last week here.
I get to my job, on what should be my day off, after driving an hour to get there, ten minute early for my shift, just to find that MY mail project, which I have spent WEEKS on, which has already been screwed up by someone else once already, was taken away from me and handed to a roundtable of unpaid twelve year olds.
I swear to fucking god, I almost quit right then and there. Three days from the end of my contract, I almost walked the fuck out. The insult to my time, my willingness to accommodate, my fucking work ethic was enough to put me in tears this morning.
Learn from me kids; never let a workplace manipulate you into thinking you’re valued. You’re not.

We live in the dumbest, lamest cyberpunk dystopia possible.
So LA has been — and continues to — protest against ICE. These protests haven’t gotten any smaller or lost any momentum, but social media wasn’t reflecting it.
TikTok users, realizing that the platform/other social media are censoring/deleting/shadowbanning these protest videos, decided to find a workaround.
They’re calling it the LA Music Festival. Ice detention centers and other protest locations are “stages.” The hottest band is Rage Against the Machine. “Here’s what gear you should be bringing to stay safe at the LA Music Festival.”
And it fucking worked.
TikTok has become a proving ground for a lot of new music, meaning lots of labels and organizations have lucrative deals with TikTok to promote their new artists and music festivals. So they absolutely cannot censor the words “music festival” or train the algorithm to ignore it, or they risk endangering that very important revenue.
So now protest videos are flooding feeds again, but it’s the LA 24/7 Music Festival. Truly an incredible timeline we’ve landed in.

No, seriously, this show went from “cops suck shit and only exist as a means to access information in order to do real investigative work those assholes can’t because they suck shit” to “mmmmm delicious boot”
When Jody Mills was introduced, she covered up a zombie uprising and ignored the warnings of professionals who told her it was going to end in gore. As a result, a bunch of townsfolk she took an oath to protect ended up dead in a gory fashion, including her own husband. She only improved as a character after facing being extremely wrong and also losing everyone she loved.
Victor Hendricks was a smug, ignorant fuckwit of a Fed when he showed up and only got useful in the last 20 minutes of his life after going through a traumatic sequence of demon events and being forced to confront having been wrong about everything the whole time.
Hell, even Linda Blaire’s character had to be incredibly wrong and a little complicit before facing it and earning redemption from being an ignorant, useless cop.
Originally in Supernatural, cops were an obstacle. A stupid, slowing, headass problem the boys had to overcome in order to save people and hunt things. By like season 9 though it felt like someone in the writers room was taking a bribe from Dick Wolfe.
It’s honestly one of the worst things that happened to the story.
The amount copaganda that started cropping up in Supernatural after Kripke left is absolutely wild, tho.

I need to admit something to the US Tumblrinas. Philadelphia isn't a place to me. It's a cream cheese. You say "philadelphia" or "philly" and I immediately, and exclusively, think of the cream cheese. "Twelve people die in Philadelphia disaster" wow that must've been a Molasses Flood style event

If I had a quarter for every time I found a show that I loved, that had characters I will never get over, absolutely destroyed by its own pacing… I’d have two quarters. I’d have a quarter for Moonlight (2008) and I’d have a quarter for goddamn Prodigal Son.
If I had a fucking quarter for every time I watched a great show get crushed to death by the unrealistic expectations of a production studio that forced writers to condense season-long story arcs into a few episodes so that they could constantly advertise weekly escalating stakes to the detriment of the actual story, I’d have THREE quarters. One for Moonlight, one for Prodigal Son, and one for motherfucking Supernatural.
Mick St. John’s whole *thing* with his ex wife and Beth coming to terms with finding out that Mick was the guy who saved her as a child should have been its own season.
Malcolm finding out about the Junkyard Killer and his childhood connection to John Watkins should have its own season.
Dean Winchester turning into a fucking Knight Of Hell should have been its own season!
Why do these studios hate proper pacing?! Why did two of these shows get cancelled for it and one died the LONG death?

Man, Bad Boys was one bad piece of television.
Imagine being the audacious, entitled fucking writer who decided to pen that garbage like the entire first season of the fucking show didn’t happen. What a crock of shit.

In the D&D campaign I'm running with my wife's siblings, one of them learned about how trolls regenerate within minutes of any damage not caused by fire or acid, and then asked why people don't just like. Cage them and eat them, forever. Why there aren't troll meat dungeons in the king's castle as a safeguard against sieges or famines.
And you know, I thought it was a fair question, so I said that if you eat enough troll meat, you start getting troll-y. And then I went further and just treated it like troll flesh is a general contaminant - if you eat enough troll, you'll turn into a troll, but if you bury enough dead troll flesh in a forest, the trees will start growing in strange ways, and will scream and heal and bleed when you hit them with axes.
I liked this idea. So as we played further, I just played around with the idea of Troll Origins, and I came up with something sort of like the Odyssey, but instead stealing Helios's cattle, it was Hathor's, and the horrible, awful, unending immortality was her curse of the army that pillaged her lands. A god of healing does not condemn you to die, she condemns you to live.
And then I got this fun idea for maybe the king that led the army is still kind of alive in the troll taint. Like a sort of literal fisher king. The kingdom is sick because he is, literally, the kingdom. The trees that bleed, bleed his blood and their screams are his screams. He is both the faintly green bear running down the mountain and the faintly green deer and there is no way past this without suffering. He is the entire ecosystem, and he eats nothing but himself and he dreams nothing but death and yet still, on and on and on and on, he lives.
Anyway they're traveling next session so I'm throwing this shit at them. I already have some gross ideas for like. Describing everything like it's a body (flowers red as blood, white as bone, pink as meat, grass fine as hair) then finally throwing horrible living things at them. Trees that grow eyeballs that turn and stare at them, or flowers with teeth instead of petals and trolls that speak in long dead tongues about how they wish they'd never tried to rob a god.
Anyway I'm passing this on because this is my new troll lore and I want it to become canonized in the way that all D&D lore becomes canonized: By having eople read it and go "oh, neat" then start doing that too.

Good US news because I think we all could use some of it:
The Marines are to be withdrawn from LA. The extreme escalation many of us feared did not happen thanks to the people of LA and the soldiers themselves who said "no".
The "Good Trouble Lives On" protests may not have been as big as the previous "Hands Off" and "No Kings" protests (likely due to heat + being planned on a weekday), but still 1.6k protests were held across the USA with thousands joining in with the peaceful protest.
The Trump administration has been ordered to restore $6.2 million in grant funding to nine LGBTQ+ and HIV-related nonprofits. This is fantastic.
Pittsburgh City Council has passed bills to protect its LGBTQ+ citizens.
California has stepped up to partner with and support The Trevor Project. Let's go, Cali!
Another win for California: Reports show that California is powered by two-thirds clean energy. This is a historic first and it keeps getting better!
The ACLU of Louisiana has secured the release of two wrongfully detained Iranian LSU students.
The Republican governor of New Hampshire has defied her party and shot down a book banning bill.
Shareholders have pushed back on corporations' anti-DEI proposals, forcing companies to face the fact that diversity is good for business... And reminds us that the majority does not agree with the removal of DEI, no matter what MAGA wants us to believe.
Since November, 69 of the 110 Supreme Court lawyers tasked with defending the Trump admin's policies have quit.
Don't let anyone tell you that there isn't hope, that there aren't people fighting and working and just as scared and angry as you are. You are not alone. Peaceful protests, contacting reps, and simple non-cooperation is how we sustainably and successfully push back against authoritarianism.
"We're cooked" is the devil talking. Giving up, rolling over, and perpetuating the idea that we've already failed is exactly what MAGA wants. Don't give them the satisfaction. Don't make it easy. Continue to look after each other and support your communities where you can. Keep protesting, keep calling, keep writing, keep loving. The heart is a muscle the size of your fist; we can get through this as long as we continue to stand up and say "no".
