Somethingsomething we were watching the '96 Ted Danson Gulliver's Travels miniseries on discord with a friend the other night and while I do genuinely like a lot of the adaptation decisions it made, it did make me think for a minute on some stuff.

Almost every single Gulliver's Travels adaptation that covers his adventures in Lilliput really does love to revel in the "he pisses out a structure fire" moment because, I presume, the people doing the adaptations are primarily men.

I have yet to see an adaptation of his adventures in Brobdingnag that puts any effort to adapt the scene where he tries to show off by jumping over a pile of shit and landing smack in the middle of it.

We're not gonna talk about the Jack Black Gulliver's Travels right now, sorry. I know people love it, happy 4 u etc etc but man oh man. I'm still mad.

I've seen so many adaptations of Gulliver's Travels over the years, not including the countless takes of cartoons and shows doing one-off episodes trying their hand on the story with their own characters and so on, and I just feel like we really need another solid, earnest take at an updated adaptation. There's a middleground between 1996 Ted Danson and whateveryear Jack Black Gullivers. I know there is. I need it, I crave it. Frankly, at my age after all I've been through, I deserve it for no other reason than that I have been a good girl.

We can still skip the 4th part of the book. I get it, yeah, pretty sure that didn't even hit at the time it was written, no offense to Jonathan Swift.
