humans are born with a drive to appreciate art. we love color, we love music, we love dance, even as infants. we have an instinct to sculpt in clay and draw on walls, even to fix blocks into expressive shapes, or tell stories with our toys. these things are universal, all cultures have stories and songs and dances and textiles and pottery and beauty. art is something we all have in us.

today's accomplishments: Going Seventeen re-runs / journal / warm-up + workout / Japanese lesson (2x) / Chinese lesson / Korean lesson / read Howl's Moving Castle / meditate

i'm dreading tomorrow, but that just means i need things to look forward to ☺️ so here's the plan! 🌷

journal — i really want to get back to journaling first thing in the morning but i also like sleeping in...

warm-up + workout — i'm going to try to break my running record again because i've been stagnant at 4 minutes max for a while now

Japanese lesson (2x) — 私は本を読みますと音楽聴きます (i read a book and listen to music) it's very simple, but i didn't know it before, so i'm very excited with my progress!!

Chinese lesson — 我真的要新字 (i really need/want new words)

Korean lesson — i need to work on my grammar more, but i also want new words, but i can only focus properly on one thing at a time :p

read Howl's Moving Castle — i really, really love it so far!! as the eldest of many siblings i relate to sophie so much!! why have i not read this book sooner??

watch Yuri on Ice — @megumi-fm i might be addicted and it's all your fault 😂 i have to know if he wins the Grand Prix and if Victor stays (and in theory i'm also learning Japanese idk, lol)

meditate — i can meditate for maybe 1 minute if interesting music is playing, so i want to listen to more taemin as i've been meaning to listen to his whole album since @nelyastudies recommended it to me... ages ago 🙈

whew, i feel better about facing tomorrow now 🥰 また明日! (see you tomorrow!) 💕

Massive fuck you to everyone who is talking about Palestinians as if we’re already all dead and sharing more solidarity with our corpses than us living. “We will never forget the beautiful Palestinian people-“ how about you stop “making peace” with Palestinian extermination. My people are not going to be forgotten because we are going to live. Palestinians have already survived one genocide and have been surviving one ever since.

Do not ever let the idea that all Palestinians are going to die exist in your mind. Mourn the dead, fight like hell for the living.

motaz azaiza just posted a video of israeli officers indiscriminately shooting at civilians (and him) as they tried to run away. he and bisan and all other on-site journalists are living in a nightmare simulator just so they could be the ears and eyes of gaza—and yet we still have people who’re “considering whether this is any of their concern” “uninformed so they refuse to speak” “choosing to stay neutral.” motaz was one of the journalists who basically posted their eulogies earlier this week. this can’t get any more horrifying and dystopian. we need a ceasefire.

Israel blows up Gaza's "Palace of Justice" compound which housed the Palestinian Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, the Court of First Instance & the Magistrate. 100,000s of vital case documents are gone. Deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure is a War Crime!

Israel's soldiers took victory images inside the Palestinian Supreme Court before blowing it up into pieces. This proves the facility constituted ZERO danger to the Israeli military & no militants were hiding inside it at the time it was destroyed. Again, a war crime!

It has been hard for me to talk about how what is going on with Israel and Palestine is affecting me personally, but I grew up in Gaza and most of my family still lives there. My father did not survive the bombings last week and I have not been able to contact my younger sister in days. I am try to being understanding that most people do not have personal connections to what is happening and therefore are justifying their silence, but is heartbreaking to see this misinformation being spread. What’s happening there is a genocide, not a war. It is not antisemitic to support Palestine, it’s not even antiemetic to criticise Israel. There is no grey area or neutrality regarding this, and it is so easy to find resources that will educate you on the subject. It is my people and my home being destroyed so I will never be silent about this, but I please urge everyone to get informed and start speaking up and finding ways they can help.
