5x03 - Written in the Stars

Solid start. Black polish on right index and middle, and left index. Simple, asymmetric, playful but not over the top. Accompanied by the most Australian open-shirted look with leather cord necklace. Excellent look.

5x07 - You Jump, I Jump Jack

Iteration on the initial style. Dark polish, possibly a wine red, on right index and middle, and left thumb, middle and ring finger. More assertive, but still asymmetric and playful. He uses a different but similar variation later in the same episode. This shirt is dull, but tux later is nice.

5x08 - The Party’s Over

Playing with colours now. A bright pinkish red on right index and middle, left thumb, middle and ring finger. Somehow both more subtle (not as easy to spot) and more bold than previous episodes. Perfect for a boring upper-class party. Not really his colour, though, and clashes with the tie.

5x10 - But Not as Cute as Pushkin

Back to the original style, but very asymmetric now. Dark colour only on left thumb, middle and ring finger. Have to subtract points for the episode making it incredibly difficult to even tell, but a few bonus points for the costume.

5x15 - Jews and Chinese Food

Minimalist and disappointing. Right index finger only. Left hand is never seen. Saved from a total bust by a kickass shirt.

5x17 - Pulp Friction

An iconic look. Polish on all fingernails, a mix of chipped black and a pristine dark rich red. A perfect combo, accompanied by the origin story of his father’s cross-dressing, which adds family drama to the flawless birthday style. Also, he’s technically wearing cosplay, and made everyone else do it too.

5x22 - A House is Not a Home

Another solid look. Dabs of a strong red on all fingers. Goes well with the dishevelled formal-wear. An overall great style that emphasizes debauchery.

6x01 - New and Improved Lorelai

Simple, nothing new. Dabs of red only on left middle and ring finger. Not the best look, but he carries the prison costume better than anyone else, doing what he can with what’s provided. Always appreciate a good forearm display though.

6x04 - Always a Godmother, Never a God

Apparently he always pairs this shirt with very simple polish, possibly because the shirt speaks for itself. This time it’s a little better though: small dabs of black and red on left thumb, middle and ring finger. Appreciate the mix of colours, which is sadly very hard to get screencaps of.

6x08 - Let Me Hear Your Balalaikas Ringing Out

Another example of the declining amount of effort put into his nail polish. Chipped dabs of black on right ring and pinkie, and left middle and ring finger. However, otherwise coupled with a good Australian look.

6x09 - The Prodigal Daughter Returns

Here we go! A very strong return. Pristine, shimmering, deep purple, applied on all fingers. There is clear effort put into this, flamboyant and confident. Does lack some of the playfulness and eccentric charm central to Finn’s character. The coat’s not new, but it’s nice. This is, however, the last hurrah.

6x18 - The Real Paul Anka

Aaaand disappointment. Absolutely no nail polish. Again, the rest of the look is fantastic, and saves the situation from utter disaster, but this is still sad.

6x20 - Super Cool Party People

Nope. Hope is lost. Not only is there no nail polish in sight, but this is the most un-Finn-like look so far. A failed attempt at the Australian look that just makes him look like a slob. Forgivable considering circumstances, but still sad.

6x22 - Partings

At least his look is good, with a slightly sheer shirt and the classic rolled-up sleeves style, it at least makes him look like Finn again. But there’s no polish.

8x04 - Fall

Well, Finn’s return 10 years later, while fabulous, sadly does not include a return of the nail polish. But at least the fantastic steampunk outfit, complete with goggles and giant leather boots, is a comfort. Still. No nail polish.
