Logan glances around for a small projectile to chuck at his brother. Finding none, he resigned to staring out the window and trying to fight down the blush threatening to rise.
Patton knocked on his brother's door, boincing on his toes as he hummed. "Lo? You almost ready? I may have gotten a little excited and bought the tickets, but youre coming to the fair with me, right? It has a Halloween section so Virgil is coming too!"
{@moralpuppylover2}
The knock startled Logan out of his trance-like focus, his pen falling to the ground in the brief moment it took to reorient. He closed his textbook and stood to stretch, messing with his shirt collar as he opened the door for his brother.
"You know me Patton, always ready to get dragged into adventures. Just, ah, give me a second to find my tie?"

He pauses outside a door smaller and less ornate than the others, opening it to reveal a small, rather empty room furnished with a few seats and, oddly, a roaring fire in the central fireplace. He gestures Patton in before locking the door behind them and turning his gaze back to the prince.
(@pattxnsanders) Patton grunts as he's forced to his knees before the other. He's the crown prince of a neighboring country, who was taken by the royal guard for sentencing. Well, WAS the crown prince before the other had invaded and taken control. He likely would've been coronated by now, but the war had taken them by surprise, and the small country was overtaken after the loss of Patton's father. So here he is, at the foot of the monarch who'd destroyed his country and killed his people.
The cold steel blue gaze of the young king scanned the guards of the room before landing on the man now kneeling at his feet. His expression remained stoic as he straightened his already-perfect posture and adjusted his glasses. Briefly, he scanned his memory for the proper protocol for handling such a situation before opening his mouth to speak.
"Former Prince Patton, look at me."

"I- really? Am I that interesting to you?" He attempted to play off his confusion with a taunt, shooting a what did you tell this man glance at his twin.

"Stay next to me. Do not run. You will likely not survive if you do, my guards are quick-reflexed. And, carry these." Logan handed him half the stack he'd brought with him, knocking once on the wall to alert his guard to the movement before gesturing Patton towards the door. Defensive even now...shame.

"I think Patton has once?" Logan glanced over to his brother quickly. "Personally, I haven't. You?"

A quick glance over Patton proved Logan's suspicions: he really was just a scared young man. He took in the boy's shivering, terror-filled form as a slight pang of guilt flicked through him. If he's going to interrogate the prince, the least he could do is provide some comfort...
"If you'd like better warmth, speak now, as this process will take quite a while. I can relocate us to a warmer chamber before beginning."

Logan blinked for the first time in the conversation, eyes flashing over to Patton in quiet apology before nodding. "Yeah, let's head off. No use in waiting around!"
Patton knocked on his brother's door, boincing on his toes as he hummed. "Lo? You almost ready? I may have gotten a little excited and bought the tickets, but youre coming to the fair with me, right? It has a Halloween section so Virgil is coming too!"

A quiet mutterance of dismissal to the guards broke the room's relative silence as Logan made his way in. He placed his research down on a side table before locking his gaze on Patton.
"Has silence treated you well? Or has it only strengthened your resolve?" His words were more a whisper than anything, vocalization of the speeding thoughts behind his eyes.

"Time ran far before humanity walked this earth, did prior species track the time? Or did they simply accept the rise of the sun and moon as light and dark? Humanity places such heavy values on things, why must we?"

A million thoughts raced through Logan's mind as he watched Patton be taken away. He muttered a dismissal to his guards before slipping away, entering the palace's main library through a side entrance and setting to work gathering a collection of records and histories of their two kingdoms. Once he'd found everything he needed he made his way to the entrance to his own personal library, leaning up against the door and waiting in silence to gage how the prince within was feeling.

His eyes flashed cold as a smirk crossed his lips. "Your mask is betraying you, Prince," he muttered, rising to stand and turning to his guards. "Take him from my sight. Do not harm him. Guide him to my library, contain him in there until I've arrived."
His eyes met Patton's again as his smirk grew colder. He knew those emotions behind Patton's eyes, knew he was twisting a knife in a fresh wound...knew he could break the young prince.

"But why add such miniscule values to it? Why not stop at sunrise and sunset, daylight and darkness?"

"Time is too wobbly for such precise keeping, though. Sure it will far outlast us, but time as we know it is such a convoluted knot of string that trying to track it will only lead it to tangle further." He raised an eyebrow, biting at his lip in an effort to bite back his excitement on the topic. He always has been a nerd, after all.

"And perhaps my family's disdain of you was earned, did you ever stop to think of that?" Logan rose from his throne, stepping down and dropping to one knee a few paces in front of Patton. "You speak lies, your tongue is coated in silver and will not slide past me."

Logan chuckled quietly at Patton's keeping of the time, head snapping to look to the door as it opened. He grinned slightly, returning Virgil's greeting with a wave. "Hello, Virgil. You weren't kissing about your timing, huh?"

"I broke our alliance on the discovery that your father broke his terms." Logan's lips curled into a snarl at the memory briefly before he managed to school his expression.
"If you're so certain of my intentions, go on then. What are they? Enlighten me."
