A House Born from the Mountain in Valencia
A mountain landscape, with large retaining walls of stone, is the origin of the design for this house layout. Located in a housing state in Sagunto, Valencia, at the base of the Calderona Range, the Paz & Comedias House by Ramón Esteve Estudio is fully integrated with its environment by reusing the red sandstone, extracted while opening the foundations, in the masonry walls.

A Dutch House With American Accents
"We chose this location for its views, its light and proximity to the sea. We razed the house of existing farmer to start from scratch and build our own project, carried out by an architect from Rotterdam as crazy as us, Maartje Lammers . She worked from a plan Laetitia and I had offered him.“  The result: a house with American accents and made of three materials: wood, omnipresent, glass, and stone.
The house is built around a central thick shale stone wall running inside and outside, to the left of which there are kitchen, living room, dining room and library, and right, bedrooms and bathrooms bathroom. The whole is surrounded by large windows, offering wonderful views of the surrounding nature.

A Courtyard House in Shiga
Courtyard House by FORM/Kouichi Kimura Architects in Shiga, Japan is located in a relaxed area where fields and farms are stretching. The west side of the site is visually connected to the distant hill, making the site look like the original Japanese landscape, together with the Torii gate and the approach to the adjacent shrine. Surrounded by such an environment, a house was requested which blends with the scenery while making the best use of the spacious site of about 304 m2.
Incorporating this scenery, the house was then designed to form a U-shaped building with courtyard which secures privacy. The building form accords with the surrounding views and the range linking with the approach to the shrine. The interior is configured by a single open room whereas finishes and levels vary to make each space independent and comfortable, creating various scenes as one moves from one place to another.

Great blog. Should I study architecture or interior architecture/design if I want to be an interior designer?
Both will do.
Studies in architecture will give you an understanding of the building as a whole, how to create interior and exterior spaces. There are architects that focus their career in the interior portion of the design.
Studies in interior design will focus on how to design interior spaces with a deeper understanding of materials and finishes.
Both are very different than interior decorating, where you learn to choose color, finishes and furniture for interior spaces.
You decide.
