Hyped to share I’m starting as a full time storyboard artist at Glitch Productions! After wrapping on freelance work for Knights of Guinevere, I’m heading over to the 3D side to help out with boards for Digital Circus before moving on to Gaslight District later this month.

You know, initially I was thinking too hard about the literal technicalities of the Favorite Character Awards Show in episode 6 such as "how in the fuck is the internet able to vote if Caine doesn't canonically know about it's existence", only to realize that the Favorite Character Awards is not meant to be taken literally (I know, I'm STUPID)

Because first and foremost: WHY DOES KINGER HAVE 11 VOTES. WHY DOES POMNI HAVE 9 VOTES. Jax, Ragatha, and Gangle are all on kinda reasonable results, scoring about 4's and 3's.

The voting system for the Awards is SO inconsistent if you try to think about it in a literal, technical sense because there's not enough people in the circus to justify the amount of stars in the "votes". Which leads me to believe that this.... This is literally Caine's subconscious' FAVORITE CHARACTERS. HIS FAVORITE ONES RATED OUT OF THE ENTIRE TROUPE. HONESTLY IT REMINDS ME OF THE STARS THAT DAYCARE TEACHERS GIVE OUT??? IT'S PROBABLY REMINISCENT OF THAT

Let's start with KINGER. He has a total of 11 stars, which I think is pretty obvious as to why that is; considering Kinger doesn't speak back to Caine about the adventures, never complains about them, goes with the flow and even has entertaining improv bits, as well as him showing enthusiasm whenever there are insects in an adventure. Kinger is Caine's favorite out of the troupe because he's literally what Caine wishes the entire troupe should be.

And considering Kinger's mind is broken, and Caine has been slowly shown to have some semblance (if not full) control over minds, THIS SHOULD BE A CAUSE FOR CONCERN.

Pomni is... actually, kinda surprising to me (but also not), having a total of 9 stars, which means she's Caine's second favorite. Perhaps this is due to the fact that she has shown positive feedback on some certain adventures, making her land on Caine's good side somewhat-- even if she has a few 'unimportant' things to say that Caine ignores. Probably why she has only 9 stars compared to Kinger LMFAOOOOOO

Jax having 4 stars means that Caine's view of him is quite poor. Likely due to the fact that he's a major cause of the cast's misery, leading them to "hate" the adventures, and "hating" Caine too. But he can't really do anything about it, since by Caine's objective, he has to entertain all guests; even if this means that involves a certain rabbit in the mix. But since he has 1 star above Gangle, that probably means that a positive about Jax is that Caine finds his chaos amusing.

(makes me think back to the "His acting is phenomenal. It's hard to believe he's vegan." comment)

Ragatha having the same score as Jax is surprising at first, but after some thinking, I actually kinda get why she's so low in the favors. Ragatha mirrors Caine in "wanting to make everyone happy", and he hates that he could see himself in the ragdoll-- and the proof of that is in the reels. It's a crazy kind of self-projection mixed with self-deprecation that it immediately tanks Ragatha's score even though the doll doesn't deserve it, and honestly, it's pretty fucking sad. The only positive I could think of as to why she's 1 star higher than Gangle, is the fact that she still participates in adventures and tries to bring everyone's mood up.

Gangle having 3 is so 😭😭😭??? Like, I mean I kinda get it: the second Gangle's mask breaks--especially in the midst of an adventure-- she's whiny, pathetic, submissive, almost non-participating unless literally dragged to it; instantly becoming gloomy. Which is EVERYTHING that Caine does NOT want to have as a result, if he's to entertain his guests to 100% satisfaction. He very much dislikes that Gangle's happiness is so damn fragile and easy to break, BUT DAMN THIS FUCKING TEETH MAN IS DOING THE GIRLIES SO DIRTY???

AND THEN WE HAVE ZOOBLE. WE DON'T EVEN GET TO SEE ZOOBLE'S RATING. But I wouldn't exactly say that Caine dislikes Zooble, it's more like; Zooble is Caine's least favorite. Think about it: if Gangle is already on 3 stars just because she gets sad, the fact that Zooble is the one to actively bash heads with Caine about literally everything he does, it's no surprise that Zooble is somewhere out of the shot, so that he doesn't even have to look at it. Because OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND.

Lastly.... is Caine himself. With the pathetic score of 0 stars.

Deep down, he doesn't see himself as someone worthy of votes. Abandoned by his creators, left to eternally entertain a ragtag group of humans that will never make him accomplish his primary objective of pleasing everybody, never loving his adventures fully, never loving him. Unlike Zooble that he can ignore, he can't ignore his own opinion of himself because it persists as a thought. Desperate to feel loved, yet feels like he'll never have it because he doesn't love himself.

The whole episode asks the question, "Do you hate yourself?", and it's what the build up of the episode had as a bonus content. It makes sense why it's the first post-credits scene, especially to the "Jax" episode of the series because right now, Caine is the only one who didn't serve as a narrative foil to Jax's character-- instead, mirroring him somewhat with the question.

"Do you hate yourself?" and the answer is yes. Both characters deeply resent themselves.

The votes system is not just a glimpse of Caine's favoritism towards the cast, this is his subconscious views manifested into a physical state --into an awards show, because in the Digital Circus, whatever you think will manifest itself physically in some way.

Pomni became an instant ricocheting sharpshooter just by heeding Jax's advice, Kinger was able to make up a healing butterfly that restores a health, Ragatha hoped to block a gunshot with a finger to the barrel and it works, Gangle 'coincidentally' managed to grab ahold of the Tommy Gun after talking about it with Zooble; their minds affect the circus, and actually, finally explains/confirms why that's their avatars of 'choice'-- as well as why the abstractions look the way they do.
