Callie and Marie skid onto the stage that’s been set up in Battler’s mansion, both dressed festively in black jumpsuits with skeleton designs on them in their respective hot pink and lime green. Ironic, considering squids have no bones.

Callie: Good evening, Hive City! Whoo! Can you believe it’s been a whole year? I mean… maybe not for some of you, but for me it has been. And Marie’s been here even longer! Wow!

Marie: One more year then you, Callie. Two years! Well, almost anyway. But still, two years too long.

Callie: Haha! Yeah… way too long. Well, we came here to have a good time and not think about how achingly homesick we are! We’ve got a couple really great songs for you tonight! And so do some other people, everybody’s gonna be great, I promise!

Marie: Ahem … probably not as good as we are but … [she waves her hands in a dismissive manner] Joking. But yeah! Hope we can put up a show that will be enjoyable to you all!

Callie: And no fighting! Just trust me, I’ve probably fought uh… [she points to several people in the crowd, pretending to count] …at least half you guys and we don’t need any of that tonight. Keep it clean, y’all.

Marie: You should take that advice yourself, Callie. You’re more willing to fight than anyone else I know. But yeah, no fighting tonight guys. We are here to have fun, aren’t we?

Callie: [fingerguns at Marie] You got me there. How ‘bout we get started then?

Marie: Just like old times? Absolutely!

The lights dim, and the music begins…

     “...... Are you hitting the area where they give out huge chocolate bars?”

“I’d like to see you try, loser. You say that now, but wait until you hear the rest of the performers. I’m here for her too, and definitely for TRIGGER! I was going to go on a prank spree, though after hearing they were going to be on stage I changed my mind. I’m surprised you’re not stuffing your face at the catering table.”

     “Still don’t trust the food in this dump. Not that our oh so gracious hosts would poison anyone but that’ll never change about me. TRIGGER, huh? Those flashy dudes walking around, like... the witch, the Dragula, and Doctor Frankenweenie? Huh. We’ll see.”

“I see you’ve never heard of Chat Noir. Nice costume, you Oompa Loompa.” No regrets, none whatsoever.

“You here to see Callie perform?”

     “Boy, I will take that whip you got there and kick your ass up and down this mansion with it-- and yes, yes I am. I don’t care about any of the others! It’s all about Callie-mom.”

“Thanks~ I’ve always loved being called a freakshow~! Haven’t heard that one in years~ Don’t get your knickers in a twist kid, I don’t even know what an oompa loompa is~ Soooo you’re looking for someone~?”

     “So you were just messing with me to make me mad? Hum.” The glower dissipated quite quickly. Sora could appreciate a good jest.

     “They’re short, fat, ugly, and work in a candy factory. Don’t think too much on it. Uhh yeah actually! I’m looking for the Squid Sisters. They’re supposed to be performing tonight, so I wanted to see them!”

No, he wasn’t in any costume, but he was happily enjoying himself with the bubble blowers they handed out.

He promptly blows another round of bubbles without regard to whoever was in it’s path.

Thank God he wasn’t the only one who walked up in this shindig without a damn costume.

     “Ooooh...” He reached over Gao’s shoulder and popped one of the bubbles and giggles.

Callie keeps fidgeting with her tentacles as she listens to the music they’ve chosen for their performance, mumbling the lyrics as she sits outside the mansion with her headphones on. Only a few hours left… This wasn’t going to be like last year.

Thus, Sora waved a hand in front of her face to get her attention. There she was... the star of the night, the one that would trump them all! In his opinion, anyway. He waited for her to pull out her headphones before he spoke.

     “Pssst... What are you doiiiing? You should hang out with me.”

     “If one more person thinks I’m dressed up as an oompa loompa for this stupid party, I’m gonna flip my lid... Where’s Callie?! I only came because I heard she was performing!!”

“I’m sure you can handle yourself just fine, but don’t you think you should worry more about just… Being a kid? You said you’re thirteen, right? You’re still pretty young. Not to say that you can’t, but uh… You know. I have to attempt to be a responsible adult, I suppose.”

     “I’ve already tried that, and it’s.... not exactly my cup of tea. I guess you can say old habits die hard, but I like the way I go about things just fine. I don’t expect a lot of people who haven’t gone through the same thing to understand, you know? That’s alright. I appreciate that you care about me to say something like that though!”

Admittedly, there is a tiny part of Zal that does want to see if Sora would go through with it. It’s tempting. But unfortunately that part is small, and she quickly stepped in front of Sora and waved her hands around.

“Oi, oi, stop! I just meant you must like dropping that on people and getting a reaction out of them! I believe you, okay? Jeez.”

Goodness was he always raring to go like this? She was getting the feeling he was going to be quite the handful down the line.

“At least hurt people who deserve it…!”

     “Oh. That’s what you meant. Ohh, okay!” He wouldn’t tell her, but Sora was already aware of that. Lucky for her, the train tracks of Sora messing with her finally came to an end and he gave it up, but it was fun while it lasted.

     “Alright. Next time you wanna see me in action, I’ll find a bad guy! Take him right down. Or her. I don’t discriminate in any way.”

Ouch, this boy certainly had a sharp tongue! Nightmare or not, Nagi had no desire to get kicked. He was pretty sure it would be something akin to getting kicked by a mule and he didn’t want to experience that.

“That’s not how it is then, hm? Alright, alright. You’ve got my attention, young fan~. My name is Rokuya Nagi and I was born in the Notherlands. You are not an Oompa Loompa? Are you perhaps from a strange and different world?”

Looked like he decided to simmer down with the drama. Lucky for him. Sora would have been more than happy to give him a stern kick to his leg or stomp his foot to get him to stop acting so crazy.

     “Young fan? I don’t even know who you are, so that answers your last question. Yes. What are you, a movie star? You sure act like one.” All of the stars he met back home were pompous uptight jerks. He would hope Nagi had just a little bit of sense in him.

Or Hive City would eat him alive.

     “Just call me Sora.”
