“under his pointed hat?” fatima repeated, amazed at the thought– but then it made her wonder if it would even fit under there. she reckoned it’d be hard to balance something like that, even with perhaps a hand from magic. “i don’t reckon it would even fit. plus, it’d be difficult to balance especially if it was on his head. alcohol bottles aren’t really that light. i wouldn’t blame you for that, i’d have to give him the benefit of the doubt!” are the former blonde’s words, as she pauses to take a sip of her drink. “merlin! that reminds me of how i actually heard a few gryffindor’s mention that he said similar things to them as well. you know how hogwarts was.. gossip somehow always got around. perhaps it was to show off, or something of that nature? but even if wasn’t true, finley always came up with things that just made you wonder.”

″ that's what i said ! i asked him what spell he used because y'know, if it was true i would definitely want to try it myself. but he just mumbled something and excused himself. ″ lulu rolled her eyes. ″ boys are so silly, especially gryffindors. always trying to one-up each other. everything was a competition of who's got the biggest... broomstick, if you know what i mean. ″ the witch winked exaggeratedly, failing to suppress a foolish giggle. ″ they were all show-offs. finley just didn't know the line between exaggerated and totally untrue. but i heard he's working at the ministry now. his wife comes down to get her hair done every few weeks. they just had a baby, last i heard, so that's nice. ″

     avalon snorted in laughter, “fair enough, love, i think we’ve all been there. don’t worry ‘bout it – i’m just lookin’ for a cut actually. i’m startin’ t’look more like a demiguise than i am a witch.” she shook her hair for emphasis, icy blonde tresses falling into her dark eyes, forcing her to push it back out of her face once more. “bit too shaggy for my taste – think ya can squeeze me in either today or tomorrow by chance?”

″ during my seventh year that wasn't a day i went by without calling someone the c work. mentally, of course. i'm a lady. ″ her lips curved in an amused smile, attention split between the spells she was carrying and the younger witch. with a flourish of her wand, the cauldrons clanked back inside the sink as the former gryffindor pointed it at the other girl, lifting random locks of blonde hair to assess the hogwarts student's hair situation. ″ we're formally closed, but i don't mind squeezing yer in as long as i don't have to get another cauldron dirty. take a seat, luv. ″

“it’s not bloody worth it anyway.” jinx commented, it leaving a bitter taste in her mouth– although, she’s sure it sounds as pessimistic as her own ears had heard it. but one could say she’d had bad experiences in that department, and with people in general. so her sounding pessimistic was a given. and not something she could help. “well, at least you’re not ALONE. you’ve got me, y’know. and we’re pretty much on the same broom on that front. i’m quite content spending the rest of eternity with my cat.” the redhead grumbles underneath her breath, but merlin knew there were worse fates than that. and how could she be down in the dumps about it, when she now had dragon training and a muggle movie? which helped. “oh stop it! in the name of merlin, you’ll find someone. i’m sure of it. plenty of fish in the sea and everything.”

″ i know it isn't, but look at that ″ she pointed to the screen with the neck of the bottle. in the small, grainy screen, where buttercup, the princess bride, was sharing a passionate kiss with the stable boy and love of her life. ″ i want that. not with the royal drama and the kidnapping and the weird folk magic. just everything else. ″ the muggleborn witch sighed. muggle rom-coms were her greatest weakness. during summer breaks, she would watch john hughes movies and complain that hogwarts had no jake ryans willing to date her. ″ if all else fails, i'll join you and your cat. hell, we can become lesbian life partners. ″ a small chuckle left her lips, and lulu clinked her bottle on jinx's.

BRAMBILLA﹐ ᴠᴇʀᴀ.

pink coconut ice or yet another package of shock-o-choc ? an indecisive vera huffs, making a silly strand from dark, curly locks blow off her forehead. oh, does she dislike taking a step into honeydukes because one) she’s extremely indecesive when it comes to wizarding candy and two) she can’t say no to gettin’ all the candies ! anything for you very sweet tooth, a dorcus mind would say everytime she added another wizochoc over the amount of treats she was holding against her chest. why didn’t she take a basket ? because she said, i will only get a sugar quill— of course bloody not ! 

eventually, the tiny witch comes up with a final decision, and with a light motion of her head, a tin of pink coconut ice settles on top of the treats she was holding. “ merlin, god, i promise i am done for today. ” she whispers to no one, taking a step back to finally walk away until golden hues meets the eye of another’s, coming into a stop at the very sudden, very not wanted explanation behind her loaded basket. she took it anyway. 

“ … on wednesday ? ” vera blinked. eh. “ i don’t judge. ” the brunette replied, motioning to the amount of sweets settled upon her joined arms with a lazy nod. “ ‘m the same. if i had enough galleons on me i would buy the entire place. ”

plump lips let out a small chuckle when she realised that she was far from being the only one planning on stuffing her face with magical sugar over the weekend. living alone after seven years sharing a dorm with four other witches was so lonesome the former gryffindor wished her haul was, in fact, for a party. not that her cramped flat above the quill store on main street would be able to support a gathering of more then three people. so, most of the time her evenings were consumed with a mountain-load of wizochoc and wine, tending to her plants and wishing she had a boyfriend.

″ a witch after me own heart. ″ she smiled, delighted. ″ as soon as i had an extra sickle i would immediately spend it on another liquorice wand. the seventh-year fifteen pounds hit me hard. ″ a sigh left her parted lips, nevertheless a nostalgic and merry one. ″ turns out sittin' on me bum all day makin' potions is not loads of exercise. ″

cassandra sipped on her tea before taking out her wand. she conjured up a small flame that was now resting comfortably in her hands.  would it have been  ALARMING  to those around her  ?  that all depends.  her tea just wasn’t warm enough.  granted,  it did seem a bit dramatic.  but why not use her ability to manipulate fire  ?  nonetheless,  her focus diverted to the student couple lulu just pointed out.      “      hmmm  …      ”      she hummed.      “      i reckon that bloke was giving flirty eyes to another girl and she called him out for it.  but he probably denied it so now it’s just a full out  row.      ”      she was just letting her imagination run free.      “      but the notes for o.w.l.’s or n.e.w.t.’s also seem plausible.  people can be rather conniving.  any other guesses  ?      ”

lulu's dark cocoa eyes widened at the sight of flames, actual fire, being conjured from the witch's fingertips. she had learned about elemental magic during her time at hogwarts, of course, and knew that there were at least two witches younger than her that possessed the ability, but she had never seen it with her own two eyes. biting her lips to stop her from asking any questions, the former gryffindor redirected her gaze back to her previous focus. ″ that's certainly more spicy than my one. i like it. ″ she nodded in agreement, pausing briefly for a quick think and another sip. ″ maybe she has a twin sister and he accidentally hooked up with the wrong one. ″ she started mimicking the girl's wild gestures, elevating her voice to a higher pitch to perfect her impression. ″ i cannot believe you could ever mix us up, brandon ! we are so clearly different ! she parts her hair to the right, i part my hair to the left ! it makes all the difference ! ″

“oh yes! definitely it was such a fun party.” fatima never complained, about reminiscing– her hogwarts days; were a big part of who she was today, and had shaped her in a lot of ways. “i still don’t know who did it. or how they’d managed to sneak it in so easily. i’ve got to give them props though. i think, it’s just one of those things that those who said it thought it’d sound cool. or make them cooler, in some kind of way.” back in those days the half-veela didn’t drink alcohol, and even now she only had a glass. sometimes more, on occasion. “i think some held onto the bottle a little longer.. instead of the whole passing it around. because i remember only seeing it only once or twice, it was rather hard to keep track of.”

″ finley atterberry told me the next day that he was the one that brought it in by sneaking it under his pointed hat ! personally i never believed him. ″ lulu raised the porcelain to her pouted lips, taking a delicate sip while having another bite of the chicken pot pie she brought home from the three broomsticks. whilst she wanted somewhere a bit quieter to catch up with her friend, lulu couldn't cook to save a life. ″ finley was always a bit of a liar. he once told me he had a pet manticore at home. ″

       christian was paused, mid index finger to tongue, as he always licked it prior to flipping the page of his book. there’d been a stirring at the fireplace. he’d seen the green wispy flames stir up. at first, he thought it was his imagination as it sputtered out, like a car giving its last breaths of life. then, it reared up, like a lion breathing out a mighty roar, blowing its hot breath in your face, warning you of danger. he was still frozen in place until the flames finally melted away to reveal— “lulu?”  he adjusted his reading glasses, the sleeve of his large soft sweater rubbing against his distinct jawline, his hickory brown eyes wide from behind them. “is that you?” granted, she was standing in the middle of his living room, not the gryffindor common room, and he wasn’t flushing for having gotten caught in a heated lip lock with his girlfriend, now wife, but he still recognized the witch all the same. “…did… did you and fatima have plans… or?” he asked, making hand motions behind himself to the door, his dark brows furrowed.

recognition dawned on her like a veil, eyebrows knit together as a deep sigh left her parted lips. ″ this 's getting ridiculous ! ″ she stomped, frustrated, into the familiar living space. regardless of how happy she was to having had ended up at a familiar place, rather than at a some kind of dark hole with murderers, it was quite embarrassing for her as a grown-ass witch to still struggle with floo powder. most wizards and witches had grown up travelling to their buddies' houses with it, for merlin's sake. as much as she wanted to lie, to say that yes, she was there by design, she couldn't fake plans with fatima to her husband. ″ no, no, 'm sorry. i just had a... mishap. ″ manicured fingers ran through her curls. ″ great seein' yer anyway, christian. glad you haven't gotten outta shape working at st. mungos. ″ she remarked quickly and inappropriately. ″ i meant to head elsewhere, but to be quite frank i don't have a lotta experience with floo powder. ″

     avalon raised her eyebrows, amusement clear in her eyes. “don’t get your wand in a knot, sweetheart,” she teased, “‘n y’know, most people would say please –” avalon stepped out of the way of the cauldrons, “especially t’someone who was lookin’ to give them business.”

″ 'm sorry, i had to stick my wand up my bum to be able to carry all of this. ″ she retorted sarcastically before reprimanding herself about talking about things up one's bum to a student. lulu opened the door to the salon with her shoulder, moving her wand so the cauldrons would pile up a sink with a loud CLANK. she whispered a spell before water started pouring out of her wand onto the pile. if her manager saw her addressing a customer like that, she doubted a verbal warning would suffice. so she offered the blonde girl a tired smile. ″ i apologise. 'm just exhausted and cranky. cleaning duty, y'know. ″ the water ceased, and a sponge started scrubbing the first of the cauldrons. ″ is there any way i can help you ? ″

           “ early christmas or late halloween.  pick your poison. “  every year, britin threw a huge party on or before the anniversary of his mother’s death.  of course no one knew that was why he threw the party; it was britin st. james … did he really NEED an excuse ?  most people didn’t even bother asking anymore.  as long as there was plenty of champagne and enough people to keep his mind occupied, he’d done his duty.  at his elbows, his house elf corvius was bowing before lulu.  “ corvius welcomes missus to master britin’s home.  can corvius take missus’ cloak ?  “  behind them, straight off the foyer, was a room set aside for cloaks.  they were hung with care on enchanted hangers, each one charmed to ensure that none of the garments would fall and tangle in amongst each other on the floor.  corvius was also known for his memory;  when a wix handed him their cloaks, he’d know for certain which was their at the end of the night.  “ since you’re early, i’ll give you the tour — if you’re interested. “  he finished off his champagne flute, tapping his wand against the glass to prevent it from refilling;  all of the flutes were charmed to refill whenever the wix holding it was closed to finishing it.  “ if not, there’s food through the dining room. “  with catered food straight from belladonna’s in golden pine, wix were bound to be talking about the get together for weeks to come.

″ that is wildly evasive and non-specific, but i'm far from questioning your motives. ″ laura pointed out, shrugging before gulping down the rest of her champagne, only to have it be filled immediately right before her eyes. merlin, did she love magic. the presence of the small creature caught her by surprise. house elves were one of a handful of things she had never gotten used to in the wizarding world. during her time at hogwarts, she had never venture down to the kitchens, so it was only after her graduation that she became acknowledge with one in the flesh. having someone dedicated to fulfilling your every whim and desire sounded like the hairdresser's idea of heaven, yet the idea made her slightly uncomfortable –– perhaps because she was far from acquiring a servant in her crummy flat and moderate wage, or because working in customer service made her a tad more empathetic to the little creatures. regardless, it wasn't something she gave extensive thought to, and she was nowhere near making any deal, big or small, about it. she shimmied out of her lilac faux fur coat, exposing a crop top and high waisted set of the same tone, and let the house elf take it away. ″ well, i'm not about to turn it down. ″ she had been marvelling at the property since her arrival, and wouldn't refuse a chance to see more of it. plus, britin st. james was hot, and she would never pass a chance to spend time with a hot guy.

″ not to be dramatic, but don't think i will ever find love. ″ lulu said dramatically, adding a dramatic pause and ending it with a dramatic sigh. she and jinx were sitting on her couch, surrounded by fragrant plants both magic and non-magic, which whimpered every now and then, prompting the former gryffindor to stop their conversation to shush them. between the two witches sat a bowl of popcorn and a bottle of red wine, which they were drinking from, with no glasses. in front of them, a romantic movie played on lulu's television, which she had connected to muggle networks when she first moved in. ″ i've been single for over a year, and this is my prime. it's all gonna get saggy from here. ″

″ you can't be serious. ″ lulu unintentionally raised her voice at madam rosmerta, the other witch eyeing the hairdresser with a punctuating frown. ″ how much business have i given you, rommie ? are you going to deny me –– hiccup ! –– one more firewhisky ? ″ the former gryffindor's posture swayed slightly, manicured hands gripping her empty glass for dear life. it was happy hour at the three broomsticks, and drunken patrons stumbled around the place, conversation and laughter filling the air. after getting merlin-knows-how-many refusals from the barmaid, lulu dragged her feet back to her table, where the rest of the staff at sunny and shears chatted merrily, all perfectly sober. ″ you guys are no fun, you know that ? i'm gonna find someone i can have real fun with. ″
