Annoying that dairy products are demonized as Unnatural and Disgusting when it's actually kinda neat that humans figured out a way to fulfill omnivorous nutritional requirements without killing any animals (and populations historically dependent on dairy even evolved lactase persistence!). This is biopunk to me

Happy birthday to Lyudmila Pavlichenko (born July 12, 1916), Soviet sniper in World War II, with 309 confirmed kills.
A true role model for today.

For the folks reblogging this with tags like "Then why so many bad people?????" Cause someone told them to replace their humanity and they did. Some folks decide their relationship isn't to others but Their Wealth, or Their Business, or Their Nation. They ripped out their humanity and stuffed something else in.

When someone tells you to cut pieces of yourself out, ask yourself... what is going to replace that?
If its something you have to buy or sub to, you are dealing with Manufactured Discontent. Capitalist societies commodify EVERYTHING, so Empathy is EVIL because people might do CHARITY, and Not Buy Things To Feel Better In A Shitty World. Capital WANTS you to be a doomer who has given up on connection So You Buy Stuff To Fill The Void Left By The Humanity Capital Demanded You Abandon
Be genuine out of spite. Seek connection as REBELLION. Its hard, you'll deal with asshats, and sometimes get burned by manipulative pricks. But THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD PEOPLE WHO FEEL LIKE THEY ARE DYING ON THE VINE, AND THEY'RE SCARED TOO
Get uncomfy. Try. Be willing to accept mild discomfort to reach out to another person.
Your sense of shame when your first try fails is also a consequence of Capital; we grow up in a Live Fire enviroment where a single mistake can end your career and oppertunities. PERFECTION IS NOT HUMAN, DO NOT EXPECT IT OF YOURSELF OR OTHERS. WE MADE IT UP.
Practice being kind to yourself. It'll get easier to be kind to others as you learn how to be kind to you. Give yourself space to be, and remember You Are Not Labor nor Commodity. You Are A Person. Other people NEED you to Be A Person First.

Closing this year with Fusion Core!
Robotics and such augmentations are not unheard of in niche groups; however, it's difficult for a subject to remain viable without a significant power source. This deathclaw remains the most dangerous seen, with fusion cores directly embedded in its flesh.

Are the defensive or calculated? Did they plan to lie or was it just easier than admitting a painful truth? Is the Most Painful Truth that They Don't Know, and they specifically lie to never say those words?
Are they reflexive? Is it easier to smooth things over and clarify the truth later? Do they lie out of panic or fear after being punished for truths other people didn't want? How much of them is a preformance, compelled whenever eyes fall on them? Do they even know who they are after all the things they've pretended to be?
Is someone compelling them, or are they self motivated? Or perhaps they lied to Protect Someone, and now maintaining that fiction is biting into that relationship as the dishonesty rots it from within.
How a person rationalizes affects how they lie. The planner knows they're outside the lines and has their own reasons. The reflexive liar makes no plans, only reacts with whatever words keep them safe and free. The willfully ignorant throw tantrums when forced to acknowledge that which they did not wish to know or see.
The planner may have both pride in their skill and deep shame that they trained it. The reflexive liar may hate themselves for saying whatever lets them escape, even when they want to linger. The willfully ignorant liar will proclaim expertrise on the subject they're actively avoiding.
What’s your character’s lying style? Lies of omission? Gaslighting? Redirection? Distribution of blame? Technical half-truths? Cartoonish clumsy spluttering? Silver-tongued cons? A lot can be said in a lie

For the curious,
If you go that extra 10 min, you will make gummy candy. That's what happens. Go an extra 20 and you'll make hard candy when it cools.
If you do either of these things on purpose, you can pour the hot fruit goo into a silicone mold to shape individual pieces. If going for gummies, dust your mold with cornstarch to ensure no sticking. You can use a paintbrush to ensure the cornstarch fully coats the mold.
If going for hard candy, I can't help you. Every time I've cooked sugar for that long it was for peanut brittle. Used wax paper to ensure release from the sheet pan the hot sugar goes into to cool and harden. I'm certain fruit goo would be similarly compatible with the method, tho I think that would qualify as glass candy?
Longer you cook, more water boils off, the more you are Dealing With Molten (Sugar) Crystal and not much else. And when all the water is gone? The lemon burns and the whole batch will taste like pith.
at some point in your life you will be boiling fruit, water, sugar, and lemon juice in a pot to make a syrup or jam. the instructions will tell you to simmer for a certain amt of time. your timer will go off and you will look at the pot and go, "hm, this doesn't look thick enough. maybe i'll let it go for another 10 minutes." this is the devil speaking. it's only so liquid right now because it is at boiling point. it will thicken when it cools down. learn from the follies of my youth and do not let this happen to you

i've always been dogshit at pottery on a wheel because i have weak noodle arms and can't hold my hands firmly in place to center the clay but i finally realized the root issue was that my legs are SHORT since i have the limb/torso proportions of a dachshund and i couldn't brace my elbows on my legs, so i put bricks under my feet and now i can sort of do it!! i've tried to learn twice in the past from TALL people but had a revelation when i watched a medium size guy throwing.
Tumblr media
The moral of the story is: don't give up, maybe you just need bricks
