Hyacinth Macaw. The largest macaw in the world!馃寧
What better day than Blue Monday to talk about the Hyacinth Macaw! 馃尶馃 With its stunning blue plumage, the world's largest macaw is primarily found in Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay.
In the 1980s, it faced a dramatic decline due to poaching and habitat loss. Fortunately, thanks to conservation efforts, especially in Brazil's Pantanal, it has begun to recover since 1990. Although it has moved from being "Endangered" to "Vulnerable," its future is still uncertain.
Loro Parque Foundation supports the Hyacinth Macaw Institute in Brazil in implementing the Hyacinth Macaw Project in the State of Mato Grosso. Efforts are currently focused on executing an emergency plan to minimize the damage caused by the fire in August 2020 in the natural habitat of the Hyacinth Macaw, in the region of Fazenda S茫o Francisco do Perigara, in the Northern Pantanal.
Let's keep protecting them! 馃寧馃挋

Are you sure you've seen all the animals at Loro Parque? We bet you haven't noticed the iguanas that hide in the different environments of the park馃 They are difficult to see because, because of their scales, it is easy for them to camouflage themselves, 馃挰So tell us if you found them!
馃尶As part of our conservation efforts, we ensure that these remarkable creatures thrive in an environment that closely mimics their natural homes, contributing to their preservation and the preservation of their unique ecosystem.

Since the beginning of our work, Loro Parque has been a refuge dedicated to the breeding and preservation of flamingos. Although they are not endangered, CITES recognises the importance of protecting and regulating them to ensure that their populations flourish. Sites like ours play an essential role in the protection and study of this fascinating species - join us in this exciting conservation mission! 馃尶馃挄

Simba, an African katanga lion.
Did you know that there are only 20,000 lions left in the world? In the last 100 years, the lions' habitat has been reduced to such an extent that they have already disappeared completely in 26 countries.
At Loro Parque and Loro Parque Fundaci贸n we collaborate with Futouris and Panthera in the KAZA project, which promotes the conservation of this species in regions of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
