“I mean collect in a… general sense,” Felix explained casually. “If they’re talented, or… unusual, or funny, I invite them over. Sometimes I see them again and sometimes they never come back, but… it’s like hoarding half the deck of cards in your hand. You never know when they might come in handy, even if it’s just to entertain myself,” he added. He was never at his best when he was bored and isolated, so collecting acquaintances solved a number of problems. “I’m a very social creature.”
“Never wrong, eh?” Felix laughed. “Believe me, I won’t have a problem correcting you.” Alek’s admission about vampires being viewed as vermin wasn’t a surprise. There were status levels in every society, even among the downworlders; warlocks and seelies never seemed to face as much scrutiny as werewolves or vampires. “Yes, well, the killing is…” Felix wavered his hand in the air as if to convey that he was iffy on that particular point. “But the blood-drinking, you can’t help, so I do try not to judge. I imagine it’d be like dealing with an army of righteous vegetarians or vegans. No one’s more annoying than a vegan.”
Felix leaned back into the sofa and shrugged in self-satisfaction as Aleksander’s face showed enthusiasm about the enchantment he’d done. If there was one thing he genuinely enjoyed, it was seeing others’ reactions to magic. “Is that so?” he asked, arching his eyebrows playfully. “Well, it’s a good thing it seems like we’ll be working together, then.”
He leaned in as Aleksander lowered his voice and explained the situation. Eighteen. Felix nodded slowly. That was young. Especially if she was out on her own, and… still adjusting. “What is she to you? Why do you care?” he asked, curiosity evident in his voice. He hadn’t talked to Aleksander long, and Felix could be wrong, but Alek didn’t seem the type to help someone simply out of the good of his heart. Despite the vampire’s answer, Felix had already made up his mind to help the girl. Even if just to annoy the clave, finding a way around their little tracker system. Oh, that would be sweet. And much as he hated to admit it, it was only a matter of time before he was stuck with a tracker too. He’d much rather test an extraction on someone else before he had to do it to himself. “Of course I’ll give it a shot. My magic hands,” he wiggled his fingers flirtatiously, “are good at what they do. And I like gifts. I think I’ll make up my mind about what I want from you later, though.” He sat up, ready to get to business. “So… when are we doing this?”
Invite them over? That thought lingered in Aleksander’s mind, a strange way to befriend a human. Though he practiced in a similar art, Alek never invited a mundane to his home. Only a select few knew of its location, mostly vampires themselves. “--and those that do not come back, what do you do that scares them?” Perhaps he showed his warlock markings, those were surely frightening to some creatures. Lifting his head, Aleksander could only assess that was true. Certainly being social granted the warlock some sort of popularity. As for Aleksander, he was a lurker, always pushing people away rather than collecting them.
“Try your hardest, but I have lived for over a hundred years. I am quite adversed in what is right or wrong.” And he did not take kindly to corrections. Hardly any one managed to try, though perhaps that was due to their fear of Aleksander’s capabilities. He was a natural killer, whether certain people wished to believe it or not. That part of his monstrous side would never fade away, he was a true demon. “Hm. Quite so. But vegan or vegetarian vampires would not last a day. Even those that eat animals surely could not last. I never met a vegan, nor had the pleasure of one’s taste. I can only admit that they would not be as tasty.” Especially if all they ate was greens.
Getting to his feet, the vampire wiggled around the couch and moved towards the curtained window. “Does that matter? The fact that I have a heart or not is nonsense, she is one of my people.” Or so apart of his plan. Felix collected entertaining people whereas Aleksander collected an army. Of course he never would admit to such things, that was one side of the coin no one needed to see. “I remind first being turned, it’s hard to manage without someone to guide you.” His father tried to, but only failure was met. Adverting his glare towards Felix’s hands, Aleksander let a small smirk pull up along his face. “That is a reason I came to find a warlock. I do not know of many so willing to go against the clave.” He would have asked a high warlock, but even then it was challenging. They would ask more question than one would desire, especially if it came to helping a vampire. “Later? That offer has an expiration date. Don’t wait too long or else poof, it’s gone.” That was not necessarily the case, but Aleksander did not particularly like the fact that he would owe a debt. He liked to be a free man, not one chained to some sort of offer -- but of course it depended on the case to case scenario and certainly the person too. “Night fall. I rather not waste my time. Does that work for you, or do you have some plans with one of your escorts?”

“Oh, I know I’m cute.” She chuckled. “I think I can take you. Never underestimate a girl, Lorcas. If you hold back just because you’re afraid you might hurt me, I’ll bite.” She teased. “I’ll even play fair just for you.” She knew she could play dirty. “You can even make the first move.”
“Who says I was underestimating you? Only getting you riled up for a nice fight. Oh, in that case -- maybe I should hold myself back.” His words were a slight tease, but a hint of seriousness laid in the cracks. “Play fair for me? Don’t do me any favors.” With that Lorcas took a step back, pulling up his blade and signaling her forward. “Ladies first.”

┌ ❝ i would do something really unpleasant ❞ lies. she wouldn’t, though giving out threats was something she did a lot they were just all empty threats. she huffed ❝ do i ?? R E A L L Y ?? ❞ letting out a sigh she nodded ❝ i guess there’s no harm in letting a few people call me it.❞ ┘
“unpleasant? oh i am so scared.” he mocked, seeing the truth in her eyes. her definition of unpleasantries must be far different than aleksander’s. “you do. is something wrong with that? you are a little joey, you know, a kangaroo -- ah, did i finally break you?”

“Well, everyone needs help… sometimes?” he explained tentatively. “I was only offering.”
“sometimes -- but that assumption only makes an ass out of both of us. i got myself into this situation, i do not need a little snake to wiggle me out. we all know who you are, the little clave hugger.”

“Why wouldn’t I be okay? I’m fine. I just wanted a chance to catch up,” she shrugged.
“I don’t know, sometimes people only talk to me because they are in trouble. I am sorry, I shouldn’t have assumed. Maybe we should go for a walk or something?”

“that’s what i thought.” emeraude scoffed, the mundane ADJUSTING the hat on her head attention turned towards aleksander. crazy, she’d been called crazy more times than she could count when she was a young girl. they’d moved places three times before landing in manhattan ; where she kept her mouth shut about what she saw. “that’s one too many shots talking.”
aleksander opened his mouth to speak, but he contemplated his next move. it was tricky with his one, the human with an appetite. there was much he could not tell her, but his hunger was enough to see passed the issue. “and why would you say that? forget it, i have something better for us to do.”

“The first one.” Allegra replied, finishing up her drink as well as soon as she saw the other had finished his. “I can be fast too, I just chose not to. Not really, I don’t go out often, I just come here basically and then head home. Do you know anything interesting we can do?”
“Well that isn’t the right answer.” He shrugged, even if it was silly. “You can be fast but yet you do not want to prove it. That tells me otherwise, you know. Hm. I don’t either. I guess we have that in common. Because of that, I don’t know anything interesting. We can just drink and then go to sleep, like old people do.”

“willing? alright, i guess i should take that as a good thing. wait. your amusement? now i am starting to feel a little used.” he sighed, holding back the laughter. “twenty four hours? that’s kind of hard. do you think you can do that? i guess we’d have to try. fine. lets do it.”

Gideon found the glare no longer intimidated him, perhaps because he had seen Aleksander’s softer side so he simply laughed it off. “That is all I want to do.” He agreed, his finger going to his bottom lip as he pretended to ponder the nickname. “Casper the little friendly vampire. I dig it.” He followed after Aleksander, making a show of looking over his shoulder to check they weren’t being followed because he still wasn’t really taking this seriously.
"Don’t be stupid. This is why teenage girls die so quickly in horror movies, they have no sense of self.” That was mostly not true, but Aleksander’s perspective on life was much different than Gideon's own. “True. Though I like to think you are a little ghost. Your skin is pale, much like other vampires. And it suits you in more ways than one.” Mostly because Alek still saw Giedon as one that got easily scared. “Have you seen any new vampires before -- besides yourself, of course.”

“Want me to say horrible looking? Wussy. I can be charming when I want to be. I can also be quite persuasive.” She smirked. “You can turn into a seahorse I’m sure there’s a spell for that. Then I’ll just give you to emma or throw you in the sea. Which ever I see first.” She chuckled. “I am so not jealous. I ca have my fun while she’s at school, duh. I balance my life and my life with her out perfectly. And yeah right like I ever wanted your body. Don’t make me gag!”
“What are you, five? You aren’t charming at all, you are scary. So scary looking.” He did not see it, never had. Maybe she hid part of herself, but Aleksander believed he knew enough. “A spell to me turn into a seahorse? I would hope that backfired on you. And throw me into the sea? Why that is a perfect place for a seahorse to go.” It was not a bad idea. “And who do you have your fun with?”

“I have to.” She knew how cold she can be and how with just her words at times she can cut people. She was strange to most of the shadowhunters she grew up with. Her aunt hating her but could not say a word. Repressing her instead and making her into something she wasnt and she never took. “But with you I can just forget. . Be myself. Actually say and do what I feel. All my life I hid my emotions and how I really felt. My thoughts. Everything. It still doesnt mean I don’t get hurt. Growing up, in my world, I’m constantly torn between killing myself… or everyone around me. I’m no angel despite part of the blood that runs through my veins.” Elena at first knew his intentions when they first met but she still stuck and should he need anything, she knew she would try to give him what she can. “–Well, I’m not.” She was both demon and shadowhunter. She didn’t have the same views as most had in wanting to rid of the world of downwolders. Most don’t even chose this life. They were born into it or made. “To push you away. . Make you hate me for a moment even though that was the last thing I wanted. “ She breathed out. “You didn’t? No. The law is hard but it is the law. . The clave would question anyone involved with me. . Meaning you. I don’t want you to get hurt or they do something to you.” She leaned against his touch. “Do you really care that much about me to put yourself in that position? I’ll tell you if you are.” She knew she would be breaking her aunt’s rules but she didn’t care. She easily melted into his kiss, missing the feeling and his arms around her. “Good. I wasn’t going to let you go either ways. Not yet. ” She spoke between sweet kisses.
His glance softened, eyes lowering as she spoke. He had sensed that in the past, always felt that she was more willing to enjoy herself than act as one of those shadowhunters. She was easier to talk to, easier to understand and soon love. Aleksander had met many people in the past, but none of his lovers seemed to match. “I never wanted you to feel like that. I can understand how it is hard, how you do not feel wanted even in the mist of all your friends.” He was a demon, never granted the chance to grow up. He could not have a family or children of his own. He was subjected to living in hell, trapped in a body that lusted for death and violence. “You should have not tried to. I live for many years and for me to hate someone -- that hatred lasts decades.” He hadn’t wanted to hold that much hatred to a woman he loved. It ate at his black heart already, filling the void with only emptiness. “You think you will cause harm to me? The clave wants me dead whether I am with you or not. I am a killer and they all are aware. It is only a suprise they do not choose to kill me now. You are not putting me in any position. I rather die than live, this world is only my hell.” It was true. If he lived, his lift was subject to terror and desire. He cared for Elena, but he cared for his family as well. He leaned into the kiss momentarily, taking in the sweetness before pushing back altogether. “I want to be with you, but I fear the trouble you will get into.”
