The disheartening end

Previously on my last post back in March of 2021, I discussed the potential grim future of this blog and unfortunately, it has come to pass.

I had been fearing this for a long time. I am not active here and I have not received enough people looking to write for the blog.

My own interest in the topic is long gone sadly and I would be super happy to see users take up the mantle themselves if they wish to continue this. There are so many assets out there that would make this a fun topic for a lot of people. I was excited to cover it in 2018 but my feelings changed.

I am happier and more motivated with the other things I'm doing now, but that does not mean, I can't help look at this blog with gloom. I feel I was too eager to dive into this topic and didn't give it enough thought. The blog will remain up for archival as said.

For the next little bit, I'm happy to take questions about the blog itself, why I started it, etc. I just won't be responding to search requests myself.

Aside from any questions about the shutdown, this is the end of LostMMD.

Message from the Owner

Hello, to my surprise when I hopped on today, more mail and some answered questions have appeared. While I still remain inactive, and am still very inactive, please feel free to contact me through DMs here. Speaking of writers, another writer may soon join us. We hope they are treated well and that they can help users find the items they’re looking for.

There are some other touchy subjects I’d like to quickly discuss...

My own role on LostMMD:

I started the blog back in 2018 as a way to get back into MMD but have since lost passion since then and now the most I use MMD for myself is making renders or quick videos compared to the spark I had when I was a teen. The subject isn’t super fun for me anymore.

This has brought my role into question so I’ve determined that while I will still be the owner of LostMMD, I will only be answering the occasional mail and managing the writers. Even though I’ve had articles and updates in my backlog, I don’t have the motivation to finish them.

Granted, I’ll still be very inactive but this is a role that’s more comfortable for me at this time.

My DMs:

Like I’ve stated, my DMs will remain open for those who are interested in writing. My DMs are also open to those who are writers already if they have questions. Though from today, if I receive a DM from someone seeking help looking for a model, please don’t expect me to help you. I’ve received on recently and had to try and politely refuse and explain something some may see as grim.

The Potential Grim Future:

While I don’t like the idea of this, there is a chance of me shutting down operation of the blog in the near future. The amount of writers is low and activity remains low even from myself. If the activity remains in the state it is now, I will consider halting further operation of the blog. There is a time frame for this and I do not want to discourage writers from joining or becoming inactive because of this. While I will not say when this frame is at the end, I will say this: LostMMD will remain up on tumblr for archival purposes. Until a decision is made, I encourage writers to keep writing as well as join us until then.

Do you have any Jjinomu models? Like the Kaiko model?

I actually love Jjinomu’s work, while I can’t say I have all the models (some of the ones I’ve wanted to use myself are actually taken down to my knowledge), you can find Jjinomu’s TDA edit’s on Deviant Art: https://www.deviantart.com/jjinomu Jjinomu also does commissions for models made completely from scratch, they are currently closed right now, however. Notes from LostMMD owner: I had actually written on Anomaro’s other models previously here, but was not aware about the missing Nico Nico All Stars models. While the download has been taken down from bowl roll, I have found a working download through the May 2nd, 2012 capture of their MMD distribution page. While the image’s may not display, you can still click on where they would be and it’ll bring you to a MediaFire link instead. I am unsure if Anomaro is aware of this link as it is still up today and does not require the wayback machine. Some links may not work but this one is still available. Howdy sorry to ask on annon but I just don't know wherre else to turn. I've been trying to find an old MMD model by anomarokarintou - their "Airman" to be exact. All the links seems to be dead- tried the Wayback machine but the DL wasn't archived.

Hey! I recognize that person! Anomaro’s models are legendary.

So I did some snooping, and it seems that the nico nico all stars pack isn’t the only past work of theirs that they deleted. While I haven’t found a proper source for the model pack again, I have reached out to Anomaro on twitter to see about a reupload or at least a reason why the pack disappeared.

It seems Anomaro does modelling almost exclusively for VR Chat these days, so there isn’t really a promise that I’ll get a response or a reupload.It might just be because those models don’t represent their current work, but I can’t be certain.

If you want something besides Bowlroll, I throw in my suggestion forMega.NZ ! I personally use it for my MMD models, and it’s been a pretty clean process, and you can get up to 50 GB of storage for free. :]

I got a response from Anomaro! Unfortunately, it seems as if they took down the model pack because too many people were breaking their rules. I don’t think we’re going to see Air Man again from them.

Lots of mail! A message from the owner!

Hi there! I made this page two years ago as I was trying to rekindle my love for mmd and combine it with an interest in lost media! Clearly, people in the community do want a resource like this and I have no intention of taking this blog down!

Unfortunately, I fell inactive. It was too much for me to take on at the time. I’m not active on Tumblr to begin with. I will still respond to mail when I can, this will typically be when I make a post on my own blog or update my VocaDeals master post. Please bear with me.

I’m very sorry for not responding sooner. I have made a post in the past stating that I was looking for new writers on the site. While someone has approached me, there’s still a need to find active writers. I myself have posts that need to go up but because I’m focused on other projects, I haven’t put much energy here.

I am more active on twitter and manage the VocaDeals account on twitter more as a lot of the time, I end up window shopping.

I encourage writers interested in lost media and MMD to step forward and DM me when they can and I’ll respond when they can. I even allow submissions of posts if you only want to do a one time thing.

Accounts like this take a lot of time and energy. There’s so much content out there that it’s easy to pick one and blog out it. I promise to answer questions when I can! I think this blog has plenty of potential, the only thing stopping it right now is a lack of investment.

Hi do u have jjinomu tda kaito v3 it seems she has no restrictions for redistribution of her tda edits anymore it would be great help ;-; i have been searching every where

This as well as many of their other models, I’ve been wanting myself for a bit but haven’t been able to find. If one were to submit any, we’d be happy to reupload them. I just can’t find what Jjinomu said in regards to their edits. If we do get a submission of their past models, I will take the time to search for their statement again to confirm it’s redistributable. If I can’t find it, I’ll probably have to contact Jjinomu on the matter to confirm.

I know you did a post about Saboten's MMD Models but its very hard to find the nendroids and can you show me a link to where the nendoroids can be found?

If you mean Saboten’s Nendoroids, then they can be found with the distribution of other models (Sakura Mikus are with Sakura Mikus, etc.) If you mean Enamel’s Nendoroid models, there are, unfortunately, no known legal downloads I can link you too. The only legal download in regards to Enamel is their Hachune Miku found here: https://lostmmd.tumblr.com/post/180066465686/update-on-enamel-models I have spent time looking through archives of his old site but to no avail. Thankfully there are alternatives by Maeberi and Rummy.

This is an unfortunate one... I’ve noticed the previous submission and have done a quick search. The motion you seek here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fISIxhIJgs to my knowledge is irrecoverable. It is unknown if the official download is still up (I remember it was distributed via Mediafire) and even so, the creator's youtube accounts are sadly terminated for unknown reasons. Here’s where we enter the really rocky territory. The creator went by several aliases; MotionMakerDiva and YamiSweet. This person also ran an English MMD cup known as MOMI Cup and a few years ago, the other organizers for MOMI Cup finally came out and stated that YamiSweet is no longer with us. This means, if we were to find the download or if someone had the motion, we would need to contact a relative, and sadly we do not know who we would need to contact. In some lighthearted news, it is still possible to download the author’s models. If you do manage to find it, I encourage its use. Please respect the author’s terms of use.

i know this isnt about looking for mmd models, but can u plz get everyone to archive all of the google sites mmd sites?? google sites is shutting down in 2021 and they will be deleting all the mmd websites and downloads :(

Unfortunately, since there could be a lot of sites I, myself, are unaware of, this proves very daunting of a task. The best way to archive any of these sites is via archive.org, if no snapshots of the site have been taken, you are able to do so then and there. The only two Google sites I know of related to MMD are MikuMikuBeat and one I can no longer remember the name of. MikuMikuBeat was in the process of moving to Wordpress last I heard and have sadly been inactive since 2017. If you are aware of any other websites, I recommend checking if they’ve been archived through the wayback machine. The downloads may not remain intact, however, I have gotten lucky in past searches where files were completely recoverable.
