JUST LET PEOPLE LIVE THEIR FUCKING LIFE OML
What other people do with their lives has nothing to do with you, so don't go hating on them and trying to change their minds
Things like transphobia and homophobia and racism and sexism and fatphobia are so stupid
Like it's none of your business?? Just butt out, carry on with your own life, and let people be who they are without feeling the need to compensate for YOUR ignorance and hatred

ITS. NOT. THE. GOVERNMENT'S. JOB. TO. PARENT. BRITISH. CHILDREN.
If you don't want your kid seeing things online, maybe don't let them?? There are parental controls, age verifications (yeah, so you can just put a different age in, but you can talk to your kids about that??), content warnings, etc. If your child sees something they don't like online, it's not the government's job to stop that from happening. It's yours.
Censorship is bad, no matter what form it takes. The Online Safety Act is censorship disguised as something helpful. This is just the start. It might be porn now, but they'll come for other things soon enough.
They're already talking about restricting Wikipedia, a website used by many people to help their EDUCATION. People are being forced to use other, sketchier websites as a resource instead, or they have to use AI. The government is basically making it harder for people to get an education.
Protecting children from harmful content online is their parents'/guardians' job. The government needs to focus on things that can't be stopped with good parenting, like... oh, I don't know, maybe crime or misogyny or the economy. The list goes on.
THIS ISNT THE GOVERNMENT'S PROBLEM.

Unfortunately, l-~h*lp*$~$iph-r (replace the asterisks with "a"s, the dashes with "e"s, the dollar signs with "c"s, and the tildes with "t"s; also those are lowercase "L"s rather than capital "i"s) has recreated their account with the exact same username and the exact same bs. Block them again if you haven't already.
Thank you for letting me know, I'll block them now <3

isn't it crazy that a woman being gender nonconforming literally just requires her to exist in her own body without making any changes whatsoever. why does the fact that i don't wear makeup and i don't shave and i don't wear a bra have to be some political act. why can't i just fucking exist

I'd just block l-~h*lp*$~$iph-r (replace the asterisks with "a"s, the dashes with "e"s, the dollar signs with "c"s, and the tildes with "t"s; also those are lowercase "L"s rather than capital "i"s) rather than engage further with them. They have a one track mind and arguing with them is futile. Though it's appalling how they just dismissed your SA experience.
Thank you, I appreciate it. Fortunately, they've been deactivated now.

You misunderstand. I'm not justifying anyone, as I've said countless times. Yes, I acknowledge that Snape was bullied. All I'm saying is that it wasn't done with sexual intent, which means that it's not sexual abuse.
I'm also not invalidating Snape's experience. Yes, he was bullied as a child, but that still doesn't make it any more right for him to bully his students in turn. It may be a product of the trauma, but it's still wrong, and all I ask is that you acknowledge that.
And you talk about invalidating SA victims, but then you go and do the same to me? You're honestly such a hypocrite, and you clearly can't be reasoned with. You keep saying the same drabble over and over again, so I won't be replying after this. I have a life to get back to, and you clearly won't be convinced, so I wish you good luck and farewell.
I hope you stop hating on people in fandom, many of whom are children being bullied by you, just as Snape was bullied by James, and I hope you find peace /gen

Yes, victims of bullying might feel wronged by James. I don't deny that he was a bit of a dick, but that's a completely different thing.
And those victims of bullying would also feel wronged by the glorification of characters like Snape, who canonically bullied his students as a fully grown adult.

I wasn't going to bring this up, but I have actually been a victim of sexual abuse, so no. I'm not justifying abusers. I know how it feels.
I just think that people should be allowed to like whichever fictional characters they like without being constantly hated on.

I agree. It's not. And it's also not debatable that calling something like that 'sexual abuse' is wrong and harmful.

Alright. Since you're blaming men, allow me, a female feminist, to give you a different perspective.
To make it abundantly clear where I stand, I agree with everything this man has previously said, and I'd like to make my own points, if you don't mind.
First of all, I'd like to point out that sexual abuse is a very serious crime that happens to many people, and using its name for malicious intent or to spread harm, as you are currently doing, is disrespectful and detrimental to the real life people who have experienced this. Spreading these ideas of yours can be extremely triggering to victims, and it could also lead to a change in perspective about how sexual abuse is treated in the future. I ask that you consider how your words can be harmful before posting things like this on the Internet for everyone to see.
Secondly, sexual abuse can be defined as "when someone is forced, pressured or tricked into taking part in any kind of sexual activity with another person." (Src: Childine website) Or, if this definition js not satisfactory for you, below I have included some examples.
Sexual assault takes many forms, including but not limited to: Physical: Acts like kissing, rape, attempted rape, or coercing someone into non-consensual sexual activity. Sexual Harassment: Unwanted sexual comments, jokes, or sharing explicit images or videos. Sexual Exploitation: Forcing or manipulating someone into sexual activity for financial gain or status, such as in prostitution. Incest: Sexual contact between closely related individuals where marriage is legally prohibited, e.g., between uncles/aunts and nieces/nephews.
Src: Criminal Injuries Helpline UK
I am not suggesting that stripping someone against their will is never a form of sexual assault, but I do think that this instance was not an example of this. So, what was the point of providing these definitions? To educate you, of course. Because these are real things that happen to real people, and you being so caught up in what you believe a fictional character might have done (which isn't even canon) is, quite frankly, shameful, inconsiderate and apathetic.
Snape was not stripped. I bring you a quote directly from the book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (which, by the way, I received years ago, before finding out about JKR's transphobia): "Snape had directed his wand straight at James; there was a flash of light and a gash appeared on James's face, spattering his robes with blood. James whirled about: a second flash of light later, Snape was hanging upside-down in the air, his robes falling over his head to reveal skinny, pallid legs and a pair of greying underpants."
As you can see, James had stopped bullying Snape (and I won't deny that it was bullying), when Snape attacked him once he turned his back. James then retaliated in a split-second decision, dangling him upside-down. The revelation of his underwear was purely coincidental. James retaliated after being attacked and injured. That is not sexual abuse. A court of law might even rule it as self-defense. Get your facts right.
Personally, I don't deny that what James did in that instance was wrong. But he's a teenager. He was showing off. He probably got a dopamine rush from a crowd supporting him. Besides, the scene isn't there to say that James was a bad person. It's there to show that Harry really doesn't know anything about his parents. It's there to combat bullying, and to prove that people can mature.
Furthermore, accusing fans of a character of supporting sexual abuse is almost as immoral as being insensitive about sexual abuse is the first place. You don't know these people. You've probably never even interacted with them online. Get your nose out of your ass and consider that just because you read about something, that doesn't mean you support it. There are real people behind that screen of yours, so instead of spreading hate, maybe consider their feelings for once.

the thing about caring about ableism and fighting for disability rights, is that you can't center it about just your disabilities. i'm not d/Deaf. i still care whether an event has sign interpreters. i don't have photosensitive epilepsy. i still think that strobing lights are 99% of the time totally unnecessary and serve as a needless barrier to photosensitive people. i can transfer to a toilet mostly independently. i still think that public accessible bathrooms should have lifts and adult changing tables in them. you can't stop your disability activism where it stops benefitting you. that's not activism. that's selfishness

It really fucking is all misogyny isn't it
Every fucking thread of transphobia goes back to a fundamental need to cement completely immutable sex categories so cis men can assert themselves as superior on some level
Trans women are seen as perverse degradations of the male ideal, people who "chose" womanhood, who are read as women for persecution but not for protection, who are sexualized and assaulted the same as any woman. "Choosing" womanhood is so unthinkable in our misogynist society that brains scramble to think of why anyone would do it, and every trans woman is living proof that womanhood is empowering
Trans men aren't allowed in the club, because if masculinity can be "earned" instead of granted, it implies that men aren't intrinsically superior but made and maintained, and that someone who could have been a good little baby maker housewife realizes that that's not the fate they want
It's so fucking like. Basic shit. 101. How is it difficult. I'm sorry but I just. Fuck. How is this hard.
