Sigh.. I agree with what you said, and that’s probably why we’ll never see them dating on screen.

I can already imagine WHC3 with Suho and Sieun’s relationship being written in a subtle way just like in Season 1 or them having to tone it down for the sake of the other half of the fandom, sadly. I really want Season 3, but at the same time, I’m hesitant for obvious reasons. I think the director confirmed the obvious because he thought it would be the end of the series. Yet, there’s a scene at the end of WHC2 that hints at a Season 3.I’m not sure if they decided to say that publicly because they plan to include more of “that kind of stuff.” Even when he had to calm things down, he called their dynamic "rom-com structured" without denying their relationship.It’s a very low chance very low that they’ll actually explore it more explicitly.

Sieun was literally looking at Suho with stars in his eyes. That hospital speech? The moment when Young-yi had a crush on Sieun and joked about dating him Suho’s reaction was weirdly specific, and Si-eun didn’t even entertain it. He just held eye contact with Suho and said, “You know we aren’t,” while pushing Young-yi away.

Did y’all even watch the same show? Because I’ve seen the same people claim that Sieun likes Young-yi, but they get mad at us for pointing out what’s clearly going on between Si-eun and Suho.Honestly, unless they outright start dating on-screen (which I doubt will happen), some fans will just keep denying it and attacking anyone who states the obvious.

continuing my sieun having an all-girl friend group in university hc ,,,, none of the girls in his friend group are romantically interested in sieun but they are VERY interested in who he is romantically interested in, so he's constantly being pestered abt what his type is or if he's dating anyone or if he finds that girl pretty or, sieun-ah she totally smiled at you, ask for her number!!

at first he mostly ignores them but finally he can't take it anymore and just goes "stop. i'm already dating someone." that ofc IMMEDIATELY backfires bc they all refuse to let it go and want all the details of his "mystery girlfriend" that he's been hiding from them. sieun tries to put it off but eventually their relentlessness makes him cave so he just, pulls out his phone and shows them.

all the girls eagerly crowd around his phone only for the person on the screen not to be a pretty girl, but to be? a boy? he looks around their age. long dark hair, arrogant smile, one eye squeezed shut in a flirtatious wink at the camera. he's hot, really hot, actually (damn), but ?? who is that?

sieun totally straight-faced just says, "my boyfriend. ahn suho."

it takes the girls all of 2 seconds to adjust to the fact that sieun essentially just came out to them and immediately jump to protective friend mode. they demand a time for them to meet this “ahn suho” bc they simply must to determine whether this man is worthy of their dear sieun-ie. (he is.)

The way we linger on Suho's face, how they're both looking to Sieun, it's so good. it's not even an I told you so moment to me it's like look at what's happened to us, what would you have me do? it's insaneeeeee

in my own personal opinion i think the reason people are so attached to Sieun and Suho’s relationship (me included) is the fact that they’re both willing to cross the line for the other. like there’s not a line in the world i think they wouldn’t cross. and there’s a sort of safety and stability in that. like if no one else then this person is going to bring down heaven and raise hell for me. and not just in defending or protecting- but in pushing forward no matter how the situation is to let you know they’re not going anywhere. Suho watched Sieun and something in his soul resonated with him. Sieun slowly but surely got to know Suho in everything that encompassed him and Sieuns soul likewise found its yang. they ARE each other’s other half- and i think that’s what kinda pulls you in and keeps you.

imagine being in the world and having this one person who accepts all of you as you are-especially if your a little ‘abnormal’. Someone who pulls you out of you shell but also respects and loves how YOU are as an individual. Someone who’s willing to stare down the devil and just smile because there’s only one way this is ending and that’s with their person safely on the other side. Even in that short time they both TRULY saw the other in their most simplistic form and CHOSE one another. and something about that just makes me feel a good kinda way.

(mind you there’s so much more i could speak on this and i probably didn’t word it as best as i could have but there’s just so much about their relationship that i find a comfortable safety in)

U: Sitting in a wheelchair, he only says three lines. Though short, I thought they were so inherently Suho.

S: As an actor, it’s been three years since he played Ahn Suho. Maybe that’s why he came to the set with much more pressure and worry than I expected. The script, too, had only three lines, but the actual dialogue was different. In the script, it was written as “Have you been well(잘 지냈냐)?” but Hyunwook changed it to “Have you been living well(잘 살았냐)?”. I only noticed the difference during editing. That was Suho’s first line during the last time he went to Sieun’s house in Class 1, and I realized the actor changed it to reflect that connection.

The middle line, “Who are those people in the back(저기 뒤에 분들은 누구셔)?” stayed the same. But Hyunwook said that line didn’t feel right in his mouth, so after a couple of takes, we cut it on set. However, we wanted to keep the intention, so we ended up restoring it during editing. To be honest, in Suho’s eyes, he probably couldn’t even see who was in the back. He was only looking at Yeon Sieun. Maybe Hyunwook wanted to cut that line because suddenly shifting his gaze away from Sieun to someone else felt too difficult?

The next line was, “Our Sieun has grown up, made friends too(우리 시은이 다 컸네, 친구도 생기고),” but Hyunwook condensed it into “It is good to see(보기 좋네).” Looking back, if we’d kept the original, it would’ve felt too contrived and overly explanatory of the director’s intent. So, Choi Hyunwook… he’s really something, isn’t he?

They fall into the same sleep. During the seasons when the Catcher* was gone, the children fell, got hurt, and rose again. Sieun, now the Catcher of the new friends, comes to find an old friend who has finally awakened from sleep. Suho asks Sieun, “Have you been living well?” Those words, once a last greeting, became a greeting of the beginning again.

*translating 파수꾼 (Watchman, Guardian, Sentinel) as the Catcher to keep the reference to The Catcher in the Rye in tact.

Today, I have binged all of season 1.

I am apparently not immune to the 'for you' algorithm.

shse first kiss

i'm sure everyone has their own idea of how shse's first kiss would go. if you're anything like me, you have several. here's one i've been mulling over for a while.

i'm a lover of slow burn, so for me, it doesn't happen for a while after suho wakes up. he's discharged from hospital and moderately settled back into "normal" life. (as settled as one can be, after a two year long coma anyway.) he's walking again, but there's a wheelchair stowed away in a corner at grandma's house for bad days and a cane for the better ones. he refuses either, insists he doesn't need them.

he's fine. he says, even after the first fall. after the second.

he's fine.

sieun says he should be more careful. sieun says he should listen to his doctor's advice. suho considers himself damn lucky sieun's apartment block is fancy enough to have an elevator, or sieun might never let him come over. but it does, so suho crashing at sieun's apartment any and every chance he gets. even if they have a group hangout with the eunjang boys and everybody else eventually trickles out the door, suho stays. maybe it's a little pathetic, to cling onto sieun like this when he has other friends, a life he's built without him. but he's the only friend suho has now, the only one who knew him before, knows him, aside from his grandma. it is pathetic, to take up so much of sieun's time, and he hates himself for it even as he takes the bus to sieun's and ignores a woman who offers him her seat. he'll take his aching legs as punishment for being such a lonely, pathetic loser. 

(but he can't make himself let go of him. not when the only good thing he has left.

besides, sieun never asks him to leave.)

so, back on track shall we. it's one of the post group-hangout days. everybody left hours ago, and suho is still there. it's late, and they're watching-but-not-really-watching tv on the couch, too tired to pay attention to whatever the tv station decides to put on at 2 am. they're warm, they're tired, but the good kind of tired, loose-limbed and fuzzy. suho turns his head to look at sieun, blinking at him as the tv light flickers across his face. sieun feels him looking and turns his head too. the light catches his eyes, lower lashlines glistening like they always do. like he might cry any moment, or like he just finished wiping away tears and left some behind. suho is stuck. he stares, more openly than he ever has, and he should look away now, he should turn back to the tv, but god, he's beautiful. sieun has always been, so, so beautiful.

and then he just. leans in.

blame the head trauma. blame the sleep exhaustion, either which way he kisses him, and when he pulls back a moment later, realising what he's done, he's frozen, waiting with bated breath for sieun to say something.

sieun stares, chest heaving, lips moving as if to speak, but he stays quiet.

then he twitches forward, and hesitantly rejoins their lips.

even as suho's thoughts dissolve into mush, he thinks it makes sense. not much does nowadays, brain trauma side effects and all. but this? sieun's mouth on his, the soft sigh that leaves his mouth as suho's hand slides up into his hair—

perfect sense. perfect.

they're both exhausted, out of it, so when the kiss deepens, it's uncoordinated, messy. sieun's hands tighten in suho's shirt when his hands stroke jaw, grip his neck, tug on his hair, drop to his waist and squeeze. sieun touches too, lighter touches, careful, even as he's falling apart underneath suho's hands. but suho can tell, even with how considerate sieun is, that he’s just as desperate. they're gentle with each other, even as they take, even as months, years of want catch up to the both of them all at once. because, suho realises, he has wanted this. he's wanted this the entire time.

slowly they slip down the couch, sieun on his back, suho caging him. suho pulls away, hovers, taking in the sight of sieun splayed out beneath him. his hair is a halo around his head, lips shining and bitten raw. those eyes, shining up at him. always, those eyes.

suho leans down and hugs him.

they're both breathing hard, but their heart rates slow as they stay there, holding each other tight. kissing was nice. suho wants to get back to kissing at some point, definitely. but holding him, chest to chest, skin to skin, the transfer of warmth, the echo of his breathing. this is nice too. this is very nice.

so warm like this, so comfortable, it doesn't take much for him to drift. before he slips away he mumbles an apology for being heavy. sieun doesn't respond, just cards gentle fingers through his hair and holds him tighter. suho hums, and feels the reverberations buzz across sieun's skin.

suho falls asleep like that, pillowed on sieun's chest listening to the steady beat of his heart. for the first time in a while, he isn't scared to surrender to the darkness. he's warm, he's safe, and he isn't alone anymore.

maybe he never was.

it is so important that you are a little bit ugly. please get comfortable with having unplucked eyebrows and nonexistent jawlines and wrinkles. let your blue hair grow out into an uneven pale green and your clothes be old and mend them and modify them until they’re unique to you. wear lipstick which doesnt compliment your skintone and mismatched outfits which went out of fashion 5 years ago. be a little bit too loud and a little bit too passionate and as weird as you can be because oh my god there is nothing more disturbing to me than perfection. beauty is manufactured and sold to us and you need to realise that you are a fucking animal to live a joyful life I am so serious. you cant obsess over aesthetics forever please just live messily and make your body your home however you please.

if you dont do it for you, do it for all the teenagers who will see u in the street and know that they are not obligated to be attractive
