If it wasnât for what happened, he would definitely offer his help, would offer to teach him everything he knew, though he honestly didnât think that he would be a good teacher, or at least not as good as the one that taught him was. It may seem like something natural, since he was able to teach him how to in the right way at that moment, so easily, but doing it once and having a bunch of sessions, were two completely different things, âMuch better, right?â he smiled at the boy, as he leaned on the wall, and watched him punch a few more times. He sure learned fast, âBeing ripped can definitely help you with your confidence, one of the reasons why I stay in shape,â he was still an insecure mess, but when he had big biceps and a six pack, it definitely made him feel better about himself, âYeah, of course, itâs no problem. I figured since I was here, why not give you some help?â
âNo yeah it made it much easier. I might actually try keeping this up rather than coming in and instantly putting as much distance between myself and the bag.â Chuckling because that was what he did normally when coming into a gym. Weights he was familiar with and had even enjoyed taking a spin class or two but this was out of his element. Though the whole move down to Charming was so it was about time for trying new things. âI was pretty content with just staying fit but you might be onto something. Who couldnât use a bit of a confidence boost? Plus if that guarantees my body starting to look like yours, then game over. Iâm in.â Widening his smile as it really couldnât hurt to look that good. His confidence wasnât lacking in the least but it sure could help.
âNot everyone would do the same so still appreciate it. Iâm Lucas by the way.â

Andrea simply chuckled. âYeah, youâre probably right.â She didnât have a grandmother to compare to, so her neighbor was the closest thing to scale. Though if she was being really honest, sheâd have to admit that the woman did get on her nerves from time to time. Luckily Andy worked different hours so there wasnât too much interaction. âYou know, honestly any will do. As long as I can say I did the job and showed that bit of attention it should be fine.â In truth, Andrea simply didnât have the patience to keep sticking around and choosing the colors of flowers. She may have been that years ago and enjoyed decorating and color coordinating, but that since had changed. Now, she just wanted to buy it, give it and be done with it.  âCan I just trust you to put some sort of bouquet? â Her eyes were pleading as she looked at the man before her.Â
âSo, I bet youâre new here? I havenât seen you around these parts before. Or youâve just been really good at hiding.â she smiled fishing her pockets for her wallet. Since on duty she couldnât carry a handbag.Â
He could appreciate the down to business approach the other had when it came to something like picking out flowers because he was the same. Truthfully Lucas couldnât recall a time heâd even bought flowers for anyone else so the fact that she was even doing something at all for the neighbor was a step more than she needed to. A tell of character there for sure and was admirable in itâs own right. âYeah, I can put something together for you that will look nice no problem. Do you have a deadline to have it done by? Otherwise it usually takes anywhere from a few hours to twenty-four depending on what else is on our list to do.â Reciting the one policy he had bothered to remember.Â
âHowâd you guess?â Chuckling because in his small time here it seemed that everyone generally knew everyone. âYeah I just moved here a little while ago, thought L.A. has too many people I need something more my speed.â Not entirely being truthful but also not completely lying.

Marcus wanted to get flowers for Adelita, he wanted to get her something nice and flowers were a good bet. Plus maybe a few for Faith so she didnât get jealous and because it would be nice to get her flowers, sheâd like that. When he walked in he was quiet while the man was on the phone, he didnât know what they were talking about, something about a cake. He was sure he stood out among the flowers, worn kutte, tattoos covering his arms and up his neck. But here he was sure the kid had seen plenty of bikers. At the question Marcus raised an eyebrow, âNo idea.â he really didnât, he didnât know much about flowers but he knew what he looked up at him, âI was just looking for something⌠Cuban themed. I donât know much about flowers.â
It was still taking him some time to adjust from the people of Los Angeles to the residents of Charming, and mostly because everyone here looked more and more like they could beat you up with ease. The town must be offering steriods in the water because there was fit and there was ripped and most the people falling in the last category looked like the man whoâd just entered. He did look a little out of place but Lucas tried not to laugh when they admitted their lack of knowledge about flowers because he was about to let them down even more. âHonestly, me either. I didnât even know flowers could be cuban themed but give me a second.â Hoping the brutal honesty wasnât about to get him in trouble. Making a few searches on the computer in front of him a smile was beginning to form and he might actually have found an idea to help the man.Â
âOkay so orchids are pretty popular in Cuba so that could be a good start.â Glad the search had provided pictures so he could now pick them out amongst the others in the shop. Rounding the corner he scanned around him till he saw what he was looking for and went over to the section of flowers that looked to be orchids. âThis one here is called the White Mariposa, the national flower of Cuba.â Pointing at the delicate looking flower.

Once he shows her an image of the flower in question she steps closer to get a better look at his phone, âSeen better.â with a name like that? She would have thought it might have at least looked nice. But no. What a disappointment that was. âDidnât realise you made cakes?â she questions, referring back to the part of his telephone call that she had overheard. A florist making cakes wasnât exactly unheard of, but it wasnât something she was aware of. Turning her hues away from the aloe vera that her focus had formerly been fixed on, she transfers that attention onto the male. âA way to keep those alive.â she makes a gesture with her head to the plants she was looking at, letting out a brief chuckle as she did so, making it imply she was joking, even though no, she wasnât. âIâd like a bunch made upâ purples, whites, pinks..â the flowers were going to match her outfit she had already planned for tomorrow. âAll different types.â she didnât want the same flower just in a different colour, really she was going for nice not boring.
âRight, like with a name that regal sounding youâd have thought it would be prettier.â Relieved that he wasnât the only one who thought the thing looked unfortunate. A groan involuntarily left his lips at the otherâs next question because he understood how it could sound that way given his call but still hated to have to explain. âNo, no we donât. Or at least no ones told me we do. Someone wanted us to make a cake out of flowers and Iâm not entirely convinced thatâs even possible.â Trying his best to explain what had happened and that he most certainly was not about to start becoming a baker now.Â
Getting back to the problem at hand and listening to her request he followed the gesture to see she was pointing at some aloe vera and her quess was as good as his. âOh uh, sometimes plants just die and thatâs pretty normal.â Going back to the computer and starting to search up the plant to see what the internet recommended. âIindirect sunlight and temperature seem to be important, youâre not watering too frequently are you?â Pulling all this out of his ass thanks to google. As for next request heâd have to admit his lack of knowledge now before he got too in over his head. âYeah that sounds nice, good color combination. Uh I can put that in for you and you can pick it up tomorrow if thatâs fine? I just started here and have no real knowledge of flowers but the owner should be back soon and they can make something nice up for you based on the colors you gave.â

âBeethoven or Mozart?â She teased. âBecause I gotta say, I think Iâm more of a Mozart kind of girl.â Setting a grin on her face, she slowly twisted her feet around to admire the shop before they left. âBeauty comes in many forms, Luca. Itâs not music that makes me feel peaceful. Itâs art. WhichâŚâ Pausing to gesture a hand across the neatly arranged flowers. âIs always all around us.â Thereâs a soft smile on her features as she moves towards the door, pausing just to shoot him an amused glare. âWell then, guess you exposed me already. At least your last evening on earth will be on a boat with a sunset and a beer.â Chuckling, she sauntered on out, pressing the keys to her car and walking around to the drivers side. âOnce Iâve killed you, Iâll motor on out to the spot thatâs the deepest, tie your arms and legs down with rocks Iâve already packed and nobody will ever find you. Even if they do, the water damage to your corpse will have removed any fingerprint evidence.â Sheâs smirking, pulling an amused face towards him before she giggles. âIf you get in,â she refers to the car. âPromise Iâll make it quick and painless.â Obviously she is joking, but hey, if he thought she wasnât and wanted to turn tail and run, she wouldnât blame him. Not everyone could handle her twisted humour.Â
âI wouldnât know the difference.â Shaking his head because while he knew of both names that was where his knowledge ended. If sheâd asked about any modern day artist then he couldnât have contributed but anything considered a classic he considered boring and had written off. âIs it now?â Doing a complete one-eighty to re-take in all the sights around him to try to see the beauty that Alara was talking about. âYeah Iâm still just seeing plants and not art but Iâll take your word for it.â Laughing just a bit and not at her, but rather at his lack of understanding in the moment. As he followed her out and listened to the unravelling of plans heâd seemed to uncover the amusement hadnât left his own features. While he was about ninety percent sure she was kidding, Lucas knew he wouldnât be too upset if the scenario actually happened. Sounded like a hell of a way to go. âYou know, this is quite well thought out, I canât be the first sucker youâve dragged down to the lake. He opened the passenger door despite the threat of death and hopped in, waiting for her to do the same. âTurns out Iâm not a glutton for punishment because quick and painless are my ideal ways out of this world. Plus beer and a boat? Truly not a bad last night on earth. You might just be doing me a favor here.âÂ

dahlia couldnât help but giggle at his words, somewhat surprised,â anyone ever tell you that you are strange? a good strange though.â honestly she was just relieved that someone was coming to her rescue. she normally would have something to change into. yet she had forgotten and that meant that she would have been out of luck. she couldnât help but grin at the fact that he was clearly trying to cheer her up to an extent,â not a problem.â she watched him as he slid off the stool and was making his way out of the bar. she was going to pull her hair up into a messy bun in order to get it out of the way. in a few minutes he was walking back in and he was holding what looked to be a reasonably clean t-shirt that would clearly be oversized on her. she was reaching for it and smiled at him,â you are my knight in shining armor.âÂ
she was going into the back in order to change. of course she went to knot the shirt in the front to make it more form fitting and tucked it into the waistband of her jeans. she was walking back out and making a beeline for where he was standing,â so that at least gets you one free drink so what will it be?âÂ
âStrange but a knight, Iâll take it.â Recounting her earlier assessment of him and not being the least bit worried because she wasnât wrong. He was slightly weird and being around people he didnât know made the eccentric part of his personality come out more due to nerves. As she left to go change he figured at least his good deed wasnât for naught because the guys whoâd been acting like she was a contestant at a wet t-shirt contest on a spring break beach were grumbling about it. Making small complaints about him ruining their night which seemed a little dramatic coming from three men who looked much older than he. Was this town really that boring? Couldnât be.
Going back to his seat and finishing what was left of his beer he greeted the bartender with a grin once sheâd come back with much drier attire. âI ainât gonna argue with that logic, how about an IPA whateverâs on draft. Iâm not picky.â

she was grinning at the fact that he agreed with her,â thank you for being honest.â of course she knew that some people liked the plant. however it was just one of the many that lacked appeal. she was just happy that she even knew the little that she did know about plants. she was nodding slowly when he seemed to agree with her,â lead the way.â she watched him walk around the counter and was going to follow him. at least till he seemed to back track and they were soon in front of a display of small cacti and succulents. they all actually looked adorable if you asked her.Â
âdamn,â she teased,â and here i thought you were an expert.â she was reaching to pick up one of the small pots to take a closer look at echeveria inside of it,â donât worry, i think iâll manage with the help of google.â her nose crinkled before she looked back over at him,â so youâre here to do the heavy lifting? and they left you alone?âÂ
âYa, you donât want me being too honest though. Iâve gotta be making a case for these guys to get sold, not making them unappealing.â While the flower did that on itâs own Lucas guessed he shouldnât just go around calling things ugly when the whole point was to be romaticizing them to get someone to take it home. Already he wasnât doing a great job but to be fair the flower reminded him of someoneâs grandma. A hard selling point that would be if he really started speaking his mind. He did appreciate the joking manner the woman had taken with him and he felt himself relaxing despite the air of anxiety that had set in once the owners had left.Â
âItâs the soft boy aesthetic I got going on, really makes people think I know a lot about plants and indie music.â Having a laugh himself because sheâd really hit the nail on the head with that one as he was certainly no expert. âThe being in a flower shop also is a tell but looks are deceiving, that we know.â Rubbing a hand across the back of his neck as he felt slightly bad that google was going to have to do his job for him, but not enough to pull out his own phone. âI think they really just needed someone else around and were desperate enough to take in anyone, though rotten judgement really for both hiring me and leaving me alone. Didnât think that one through but alas, here we are.â

Andrea grimaced, quickly putting back the bouquet as if it was laced with poison. âSee, youâd think I know a thing or two about flowers. I just know theyâre pretty and go by the taste.â Before he could answer, she quickly added. âAnd before you say anything that would never be found in my house. My neighbour is this typical⌠Older woman. Every year come October, she gets out all these decorations for Halloween, Christmas, Easter⌠You name it. And does this awful, I mean like really awful display. Colours that donât match, she goes big on things you shouldnât and everything.â She was using her hands as she spoke, drawing large circles in the air as to try and show him how extravagant the older woman was, so at least heâd get the idea. âIf youâre going to pass the Laker street at some point, you will know exactly what Iâm talking about.â She grinned and followed him to the counter. âAnd now itâs her birthday, and I want to be the good neighbour and just give her something, cause sheâs actually sweet. Brings me cookies and cakes. I think because she wants me to eat.â Somehow she was definitely oversharing, but the guy seemed nice. Non threatening kind of way. Or at the very least - she hoped. âIâm going to trust you on this, because youâre the one who works here. As long as itâs nothing to do with death - Iâll be happy.âÂ
It was a good thing he really didnât know what he was doing here because instead of having to try to talk out his ass about things above his head, the woman was doing all the talking for him. Was he really interested about this elder neighbor? No, but he knew he was now going to be seeing this house soon enough because thatâs how things in life worked. Once you pointed out something your brain automatically wants to find it again. Something in him also told him to just nod his head in agreement to show he was listening because sometimes people just have to let things out. Saved him the embarrassment of having to reveal his lack of knowledge just yet so it was convenient all round.
âShe sounds like every old grandma Iâve met, well intentions and all.â Discounting his own grandparents and thinking it was actually quite nice to think of someone else and pick them up a gift like that. âI mean yellowâs the opposite of black. I guess white is but, there-â Pointing towards a mixed arrangement with yellow and white. It was a little too summery but did look nice. âThat one looks to be on sale too if that makes a difference.â Noticing the red and white sale lettering below on the shelf. âOrange is good too, fits with fall.â Extending his hand in the other direction to show some tiger lilies, one of the few flowers he could identify by name.

âNo?â sheâs engaging, sheâs humouring herself more than she was him as sheâs browsing the flowers that were insideâ sheâs looked outside, though reality was she wanted to get whoever that was inside to tie her together what she wanted and apparently, she came in at the right time to overhear the last part of his phone call. âWhat does one look like then?â sheâs asking, appearing to be curious, when really she wasnât. She didnât care what a queen anneâs lace was. As sheâs looking around, she spots the array of succulents and she practically glares at the aloe veraâsâ- ugh.  She hated them. The bane of her current colourful existence. Every time she gets one, after a few months it dies. Either she was watering it too much or she had left town and wasnât taking care of it enough. Instead of moving on and choosing something else, she stuck to her obsession of keeping one aliveâ it was more wanting that satisfaction of succeeding that captured her interest. Â
âUh, well here.â Pulling out the phone from his back pocked and quickly using google to produce a picture of the flower and coming round the counter to show the other. The flower might be somewhere around the shop but he wasnât going to be able to find it fast enough. He was barely making it around as it was and had felt more dumb than usual as the owners had been giving him more information all day than he felt like heâd memorized from med school. That meant something since he was pretty sure he could name every single bone in the body without much faltering. He did drop out after all, but that was unrelated. Snapping his attention back to the other who was now browsing through the cacti and succulents he was wondering whether to hang back or offer his help. The latter being a weighted question depending on what she needed.Â
âYou looking for anything specifically, or?â

When youâve been trained since you were young, you learn a lot of things. He boxed and did karate, no wonder he was always ripped and always had huge biceps. He could have been shy, but he had to defend himself somehow, especially after he realized that his first foster dad, was an ass, that loved to use him as his punching bag, he needed to learn how to defend himself from him, since his foster mom, would do nothing about it. But he knew it was just because she was scared, âItâs all a matter of technique, if you punch it right, wonât be that hard,â he walked closer to the younger man, placing his hands on his arms, and adjusting them in the right position, âTry it now,â he remembered everything that he was taught, maybe because he always trained, he never stopped it, because he knew that even if he had already finished the classes long time ago, he would possibly forget everything if he didnât continue training, âPretty good,â he smiled, âI know, itâs pretty insane to think that someone actually thought about it, I wouldnât ever have been able to.â
It was a definitely relief to hear that it wouldnât be that hard if he actually did it right, but Lucas hadnât respected the other to actually show him. Clenching his jaw at the otherâs touch, but making a mental note of how he positioned him, he exhaled and tried again. His punch felt a lot more natural and less like he was fighting his own limbs which surprised him and he shot an excited look at the guy. âHoly crap.â Still amazed at how much better it felt he got in a couple more jabs before relaxing and turning back towards the stranger that he was thankful for now. âYouâve saved me from becoming the scrawniest guy in here forever, because now-â Pausing for the dramatics heâd always been one for, âWell now, Iâm going to be ripped in no time.â Laughing as the joke was definitely just that, a joke.
âMe either, thatâs why inventor is not one of the skills listen on my resume. Thanks by the way.â

trinity-kingâ:
Once a week Trinity came into Flor Amor, to buy flowers for her mother. It was a small gesture, but it was Trinityâs way of showing her mother that she was appreciated. The flowers varied from a single sunflower to a bouquet, all depending on what she had to spend after all the bills were paid. Usually she and the owner had a good rapport going, exchanging smiles and pleasantries, as well as talking about what the different flowers symbolized and represented. Everything Trinity knew about flowers, she had learned from her weekly visits. This time when she walked into the shop though, she was greeted by a finger rather than the usual greeting, and the sound of the unknown man speaking on the phone. She stared at him for a second, before walking around the shop to see what the owner had gotten in recently. Trinity then stopped and looked up from the tables when she heard the other speak to her directly, rather than the person on the phone. âI have heard of a Queen Anneâs Lace actually. I believe the represent sanctuary⌠I might be mistaken thoughâ Always doubting herself, Trinny looked back down and continued to look through the flowers as he continued. She couldnât help but let out a slight laugh as his spoiler alert comment, and ended up shaking her head, âWell, I think they look like lace. Yâknow, intricate, complex and delicate?â She shrugs her shoulders, before looking up at the man and smiling politely. âAnyways, Iâm wanting to buy a sunflower bouquet. Is that something you could help me with?â She asks before looking around for the owner âOr should I wait?âÂ
His head nodded at the new information he was being given as if he understood but it went over Lucasâ head. The only thing he related with sanctuaries were the places churchâs had in their buildings. It was apparently also his own opinion about the flower because intricate and complex was not what he would have associated with the photo of the flower google had provided him but heâd go with it. âYou and apparently whoever named it.â Seeing as the name was obviously there for a reason and it didnât matter if he agreed or not. He was just here to make a little money and pass the time anyways. Seemed like learning would also be apart of that time, today at least. Stepping out so he wasnât trapped behind the counter just pointing at things it was his own turn to shrug because it all depended on what the woman wanted.Â
âDepends, you want something premade or like custom? Because I can show you the premade ones cuz I at least can point out a sunflower. But you want something more specific youâll need to wait till someone with more knowledge about flowers than me shows up.â

andreashawâ:
Andrea wasnât a big fan of flowers. Not because they werenât beautiful but more because of her previous experience. For her, they always represented a broken promise, a pathetic way of saying sorry. Yet, here she was, heading directly for Flor Amor to get some flowers for one of her neighbors. Though it wasnât a sorry gift, it was going to be a âHappy birthdayâ kind of thing. As she entered the shop, she was immediately hit by multiple scents of various flowers, which only made her scrunch her nose. Why when the smells were mixed together, it always reminded her of funerals.Â
She spotted the guy behind the counter who seemed to be very invested in the phone call, and decided to move about, look for something that didnât say âNow that youâre a year older, youâre basically deadâ. âHuh?â She managed to say when her thoughts were interrupted by his voice. âOh. Sorry, I donât know one thing about flowers, except the mundane ones - the ones that everyone knows.â She grinned and picked up a random bouquet that had orange and brown and yellow colours of flowers in it. Well, it was autumn after all. âYou reckon these say happy birthday or hereâs to not dying?â She asked, bringing it up to the counter.Â
âYou an me both.â Sheepishing agreeing because thatâs probably not the response he should have had. Except they apparently were taking all the help they could get at Flor Amor because theyâd hired him. A guy who had only ever bought roses and that was one time because heâd done the dramatic rose petals on the bed thing for a girl he hadnât even liked. Other than that the rest of the flowers just blended together into just the general label of being a flower. Bringing his gaze to the bunch sheâd picked up that looked like they belonged on the table of the first thanksgiving feast he shook his head. âI guess but they look more like they would be in some midwesternerâs pumpkin pie recipe blog. You know, the ones where they give you their life story before revealing the ingredients?â Wondering if that was too niche a topic though a little too late to take it back now.
âYellow is a good start though.â Coming around the counter now to better see if he could find something. âWhat about those? If that doesnât scream hereâs to not dying then I quit.â Pointing at a yellow and white bouquet.Â

aspen was running a few errands that she had been putting off for way too long. that meant stopping at the grocery store to pick up some cereal, bread and some lunch meat. she had stopped at sweet escapes to pick up a few pastries. she was doing her best to save money but at the same time she knew it was alright to splurge. she did earn quite a good amount of money working at mayhem maidens. she had found herself glancing at the only florist in town before figuring she mine as well take a look. she wasnât exactly a plant person but figured maybe she could find something to put in her apartment. her window sill was empty and she figured something could go there. she was going to push the door open, hearing the bell ring and noticing the only person there was someone who was working. he seemed to be in a rather heated discussion with someone on the phone.Â
an amused look appeared on her face and she let out a laugh,â um, i did and yeah it doesnât, honestly i always thought it was ugly.â she shot him a smile before going to take a few steps closer,â any chance you guys carry cactuses? i figure itâs the only thing i might not kill.âÂ
âIt is ugly.â Agreeing with the other and joining in on her laughter. Granted most plants were not the prettiest of things but with such a regal name heâd expected something else. The womanâs question was thankfully easy enough because he actually could answer it so he didnât feel even more useless today. âSucculents might be up your alley, but we do. Follow me.â Coming out around the counter now to start heading towards the back of the shop before realizing they were going the wrong way. âErm, okay well actually this way.â Retracing his steps until they were in front of an assortment of small catcti and succulents in starter pots.Â
âPlease donât ask me the difference between them. I just started here a couple of days ago and they agreed to let me on because they needed someone to do the heavy lifting.â Giving the other an almost pleading look.

sometimes the gull of some people actually amazed her. not that she should have been surprised about it all. everyone did stupid things when they were drinking but men usually did worse things. she was trying to figure out what she could do for the rest of her shift. her hands reaching to try to peel the wet fabric from her frame. it took her by surprise when she heard someone asking if they could help. her head lifted and she bit down on her lip,â not unless you have a shirt i can borrow,â she admitted,â itâs fine, the pigs will get bored and move on and iâll just reek of beer for the rest of my shift.â she was trying to wipe at the beer using a rag but doubted it would do anything.Â
âKarma called and said sheâs on your side because I got you.â Thinking back to earlier when heâd relented on unpacking his car because of how daunting the task seemed. A week and a half with most of his stuff still in the trunk of his car was bordering on lazy but tonight it just might have all been for a reason. âYouâre probably right about the guys over there who think gingham is still in style but give me a minute.â Turning around in his barstool and heading out of the bar towards his beat up Toyota that he was digging his keys out for now. None of his shirts would fit the woman well but he could promise none of them would be wet or smell like beer and that would at least be an improvement. Grabbing a clean t-shirt that didnât seem to have too many wrinkles and would be oversized but work, Lucas headed back inside.Â
âHere, itâs at least dry.â

heâs expecting her so she arrives just a couple minutes before he said he was finishing. sauntering around the shop, admiring the flowers, leaning down to smell one or two. and hey sue her, thereâs at least one arrangement she rearranges herself because the colours would look better her way. cue the creative artist in her that knows no chill⌠ever. âitâs nice here,â she hums softly as she spots him coming into her eye sight. âtranquil, almost.â thereâs a focus behind her brown eyes as she studies the colour pattern on the loose flowers sheâd messed with before sheâs satisfied enough to snap out of it and turn her body towards him. âmy carâs outside. promise to have you home by dark if youâre willing to blindly let me take you somewhere with a boat and a river? ⌠i say, hoping not to sound like a serial killer.âÂ
It had been three days actually working out of a flower shop and Lucas already knew this wasnât for him. But they had pretty much let him do whatever for the majority of his time there so far, as long as he moved things around on command. Plus it was kind of fun just standing around doing nothing for the majority of the time so the verdict was still out on the job. Heâd just finished lugging some of the finished arrangements to one of the delivery vans when he realized it was right about time to go, which meant he was hanging with the exact person who was roaming around the shop as he walked back in. âYou should be here around noon. They start playing classical music to stimulate growth.â Nodding his head matter of factly as if he hadnât just learned this new routine. He was happy to see Alara, mostly because she was the first person to really make him not feel like a fish out of water in a new town. For that heâd be grateful for despite the hangover heâd had the next morning after drinking way too much on his first night in town.
âThatâs what a serial killer would say to someone in an attempt to make it sound less sketchy than it is.â Raising a brow at the girl whoâd done something the the arrangement of flowers near here but he couldnât put his finger on just what it was and shook his head. âExcept, I donât care because you had me at boat.â Untying the apron heâd been sporting as he officially clocked out for the day and walked her way.

Twelve minutes was the amount of time heâd had been left alone with the little flower shop while the owner was out funning an errand. It will be fine they said I wonât be gone more than ten minutes. Yet here he was having to answer a phone call with absolute zero plant knowledge other than green was the basic color of most plants and flowers could be any. He was currently arguing, or discussing rather, the validity of Queen Anne's Lace being a flower and if they sold any in bouquets. If you asked Lucas heâd have told her that was fake news but the woman on the other end of the line was quite insistent. Now hearing the ding of the bell attached to the front door to alert staff someone had come in, he raised a pointed finger up towards the person entering to signal heâd be a moment. âYou know I donât know if we can make a birthday cake out of those because itâs like a flower and not food, but why donât we get back to you.â Scribbling down the name and contact information of the woman on the other end and hanging up shortly after.
âSorry about that, did you know thereâs a flower called queen anneâs lace? Spoiler alert, doesnât look like lace at all.â Looking up now to see whoâd entered.Â

her mind was practically all over the place. maybe it was because of what had happened at the masquerade. her father had also been on her mind but she hadnât shared that with anyone. she was still processing the fact that he thought she would still bail him out. that was why going to work was a bit of a welcome relief. even if that meant slinging drinks to the idiot regulars who could sometimes grate on her nerves. she had been doing her best to keep up which normally she was good at. normally she was focused but not that night. if she had been she would have realized what she was doing when she was going to change out the keg. instantly cursing the second the foam and beer splattered all over her,â tienes que estar bromeando! estĂşpida mierda! maldita sea!â her eyes widened when she realized she had said all of that out loud and prayed no one that actually spoke spanish was around. she could hear a few of the guys laughing as she snatched a rag in hopes of cleaning herself up. her tongue clicking against the roof of her mouth,â stupid fucking shit,â she mumbled,â go to hell!â she could hear one of them cat calling and that only made her roll her eyes.Â
Maybe it was the nonconfrontational gene he had when completely sober but his first response had been to ignore the words spoken a little too loudly about their bartender who was right in front of them. As if she didnât have ears and couldnât hear exactly what was being said. It was quite bold of anyone to even catcall in the first place and yet to do it right to your face, wasnât as impressive as the guys might have thought. Turning back towards the woman who had gotten a little wet from the keg sheâd been changing, it was a little unfortunate but no reason for anyone to start objectifying anyone else. âYo, you good? Can I help at all?â Asking the question withought the slightest clue of what he had to offer but offered nonetheless.
