As it stands, we are currently in different dimensions, but as safe as we can be considering our respective circumstances. In the bigger picture, we are in good hands. I hope we can return to each other safely and in one piece. Our story is a work in progress.

I keep thinking about the look on Runaan’s face here in the context of what Ethari told him. You’d expect pride from Runaan for Rayla’s first “kill”, but that looks more like guilt to me. It’s slight. It’s subtle, but this is Runaan. Him showing any emotion means something.

Finally I finished the design of the TDP OC that we all created together! Yay!! :D The post on Instagram was the only one that concluded with all the requirements completed so I decided on that list. Here is what you guys chose!

I know you usually prefer quiet days for your birthday but I was thinking! Did Ethari ever make/plan a big surprise party for you? How did that work out?

The year that I was promoted to the position of leader of the assassins, the ceremony ended up being a week before my birthday. It was quite the week, as you can imagine. I’m glad I wasn’t assigned to a mission within that timeframe. That much would have made it all too hectic.

Because of my new status, Ethari was bubbling with excitement at the new opportunities to shower me in praise. That elf never runs out of love, I tell you. After the ceremony where I received my new markings--those on my arms--he almost let it slip that he was planning something for my birthday. In all his excitement he nearly forgot who he was hiding it from. But he recovered quickly, mind you. A quick motion to hold my waist and plant a kiss on my cheek never didn't distract me.

I soon became much more distracted with the demands of my new status, and Ethari's secret was back to remaining under wraps. I awoke on my birthday to our normal, fluffy routine, and suspected nothing. Come evening, however, and Ethari whispered that I should meet him in a clearing at the forest. Obliging, I snuck over, not wanting my soft mission to be revealed to the rest of the village, who knew very well which day it was. I leapt down from a tree to find Ethari at the front of a crowd of elves before he approached me, holding me closely and whispering "Happy birthday, assassin leader." I blushed, dumbfounded, my eyes lost in his before I looked to everyone else who openly gawked at us in our embrace. My blush deepened, and I looked back to my husband.

"Ethari, what are they doing here?" I asked, keeping my voice low as I could.

Ethari nudged me. "Celebrating the life of their newly appointed assassin leader. You deserve this," he beamed, gazing at me with all the love in his heart. Sensing my shyness taking hold of me, he unfurled a hand. "Here, take my hand." I did, and he kissed the back of it with all the confidence I needed to feel secure in that moment. I smiled, and despite all of the eyes watching us, I leaned down to press against his smile.

The party was, despite its social qualities, nice. I felt loved and seen in the best way, and my accomplishments truly felt validated as I looked towards the people I had dedicated my life to protecting. That night filled me with more determination and passion than I could have predicted, and I am grateful for it.

I am grateful for Ethari.

Random excerpts from The Dragon Prince commentary stream:

Callum has a photographic memory, which is why he’s so good at magic. If you mess the runes up even a little bit, they can blow up in your face.

Viren and Harrow have known each other for a long time, possibly since they were kids.(So odds are low that Viren is the original dark mage from the intro)

Callum’s glowy cube thing being found in a box of keys is definitely important. (“Interesting that the cube would be in a box of keys, isn’t it? Wonder what Harrow was thinking?”)

The place that has Sarai’s statue is called “The Valley of Graves” and it’s full of the graves of dead kings and queens

Sarai was a warrior, like Amaya

Amaya’s right pauldron is bigger than the left so that her shield-bashing arm has more mobility

Viren does favor Claudia over Soren, which Soren has lowkey picked up on. It’s given him a little bit of an inferiority complex, which might explain why he’s a bit of a bully toward Callum.

The sunfire sword in the end credits is distinct from the dagger we see, and seems like it might be important.

They have a bit of an in-joke about the vet in The Dagger and the Wolf in that THREE separate times he says there’s nothing he can do to help a given animal. He’s just the worst vet ever.

Claudia’s hand light is a cantrip, that’s why she doesn’t need runes or magical creatures

Callum perceives himself and others as anime protagonists, basically. Much cooler than they are in real life. 

Runaan is named after one of the writer’s night elf hunter from WoW 

The way Viren behaves when he’s in the dungeon is a more accurate picture of who he is since he’s not putting on a performance for anyone.

Elf horns do not grow back. 

The giant leech is an illusion too. There was originally a scene where Rayla slid down its back but they cut it because that wouldn’t have worked.

Elves “don’t really understand the concept of money.“ 

Rayla has an easier time opening up to Ezran because Ez has been very open with her and has trusted her, while Callum has been suspicious and they’ve gotten into a lot of arguments

“pay close attention to the music you hear when the mirror is on screen” WHAT DOES THIS MEAN

Ezran’s unicorn backpack button is Amaya’s symbol 

The VA who plays the Moon Elf at the nexus(Lujanne) does the voices for all the illusions

She’s also manually piloting the illusions that whole time, like she has a CCTV camera and everything

Rayla and Lujanne will have an interesting relationship (IF WE GET MORE EPISODES, C’MON NETFLIX)
