I have been wanting to draw this since the day I first defeated Balthazar in Guild Wars 2, but I never had the confidence in my skills to pull it off. It's been a journey of re-learning to love myself, my art, and to say "It's okay if you don't get it done right the first time. You can do it again later."

Who knows, we may revisit this again in a few years, now that it's finally out!

A lot of HC heavy things here, such as the wound Balthazar being inflicted upon Novus being filled with Necrotic energies, as he's still on the mend from returning to the land of the living. Sohothan having pink fire for the Mesmer magic flowing through it. And of course the outfit I'd chosen for Novus's time in Elona being partially burned away from the combat.

sorry if i'm gonna be quiet for a while. my country recently introduced laws that make it so that in order to use social media to the fullest (not being able to view ns/fw content and in a few cases, not even having access to dms), i HAVE to give the sites my id/face scan.

it goes into effect july 25th. it'll probably effect here too, since this place allows mature content (tho not full on ns/fw)

i'm very distressed about it bc i might end up not even being able to talk to my internet friends. i don't really have any irl ones

if i have to disappear on most socials by then, you know why.

Novus started as a Shoulder-Angel character of that Simon fellow, yes. There was a devil counterpart as well who was actually made first. I made them back in 2004, if I recall correctly. The two were popular enough with my audience at the time that I decided to turn them into their own stand-alone characters.

The Demon character was popular because early-2000s edgyness, but Novus fell on the wayside for a long time; going through many transformations over the years.

In about 2009 he was more established as a butler character to an unknown master, still holding his angel traits. In 2012, I had a bout of pettiness hit me because Gaia Online was doing nothing with their Cosmic People, lore-wise. So I went "Fine I'll do it myself" and used Novus as a redesign test subject for my own idea of a Celestial Being.

He's been a Celestial Being ever since and I tend to use him as an avatar in a lot of games since he can simply change his appearance wherever he goes in the cosmos.

It's just a joke(abt that Finland being fake thing)😭 if you search up 'controversial things' on chatgpt, this is literally the first thing it shows. I am not saying that Finland is fake, it's just a random search, gang💔 sybau

As the video I linked said, "Finland is not real" sounds as ridiculous as "birds aren't real". So it's just a harmless joke, right?

But as the guy in the video also explains, not everyone will know the context of the joke. Most people making this joke know nothing about Finland's history or relationship with Russia (or Sweden, but that's less relevant). Even ridiculous lies start feeling truthful when repeated often enough and can be used as the first step for bigger lies.

Today people are joking that Finland isn't real. How silly! Let's keep the joke going! So what about when in five years' time Russia starts pushing propaganda to the West saying Finland isn't a legitimate country, just like they've been doing with Ukraine? The idea is already in your head in the form of a "harmless joke."

It's not funny to question a nation's existence and sovereignty, even as a joke, especially not now.

Here's Russian state media saying "it's all ours, of course" in reference to Finland and some other countries.

Here's Russian state media saying they "want the Russian Empire", which would include Finland. Although, the guy immediately follows up by calling for genocide against Finns (and Poles).

Here's a Russian state official calling for the invasion of a bunch of nations, including Finland because it's "all our lands."
