I'm just about at the point in Have You Eaten Yet? as I was in 2023 (at least in word count) before I scrapped it all to spend most of 2024 coming up with a new plot and a new title. The previous version was more of a things sort of happen story vs what I actually wanted for these three characters. So I took those three and placed them in a nightmare situation - "have you eaten yet?" becoming the theme of the story... like this part.

Do Spirits have hearts?
They found it more amusing than what others have dubbed them, quickly accepted their new name 'Heartbreak Ghost'. In bed with another, they lay their hand on the other's chest, testing for a heartbeat. A faint repetitive murmur… a faint reminisce of a human heart. The person found it to be a romantic gesture - another thing to note.
Hours later they sit alone, placing their hand on top of their own chest. Perhaps their heart had already been broken a long time ago.
