by @fan-joy, @arlospace-art and Luinlothana
written for @do-it-with-style-events Strongly Worded Notes event
https://archiveofourown.org/works/70135596
Rated T, 5236 words
Summary: While working as the gardener for the Dowlings, Aziraphale gets the idea to start a literature blog. A blog that Crowley stumbles upon when looking for something to read to Warlock. This results in Crowley becoming a fan of said blog and having fun discussing books with Aziraphale. There is only one problem. He never told the angel who his blog's biggest fan actually is.
A story told through blog posts and comments, DMs, e-mails and one very fateful postcard.

That Party Was Wild - new fic
in collaboration with @ngkiscool and ReaperKnight
a story written for the @do-it-with-style-events Strongly Worded Notes event
Rated G, 2783 words
Summary: Warlock Dowling is determined to have the best 11th birthday party ever. Which means he absolutely needs to invite his Nanny and Brother Francis. And also his tutors, because his mum said so.
Aziraphale and Crowley are going to have an even busier day than they expected, which is saying something given that it was supposed to include Armageddon.
A story told through a letter format, drawing from both book and show verse.

It was so lovely to see my story included! ❤️
What a great reading month August has been! Especially paired with the fact I had extra time off. I’ve fallen a bit behind with some of the WIPs I’m reading, but hopefully will catch up soon.
As always I present you with a nice mix: of WIPs, complete stories, one-shots and one poem; recent fics and older ones; my beloved happy, lighthearted ones and some more on the angsty side. One thing all these fictions have in common is that they have all been written by talented, generous authors, who dedicate their time, energy and wit to entertaining us, to making us laugh and making us cry, making us think and making us dream. What a great inspiration you all are! I am so thankful!
And, readers, please, don’t ever underestimate the power you have in making a writer’s day, don’t ever hold back on commenting even just with an emoji.
I’m tagging the writers whose tumblr username I know. As always if you want me to remove your fic from this list please let me know and I will do so as soon as I can.
As always, these fics will be added to the nice and accurate lists of Di-42, witch and the updated lists will be reblogged shortly, so keep an eye out for those
And, as I’ll never tire of repeating *holds the microphone towards the readers*
Readers in a chorus: DON’T EVER JUDGE A FICTION BY THE NUMBER OF KUDOS!!!
Lovely crowd, thank you, tumblr!
And now let me tell you about the things I loved in
August’s Awesome Fictions
WIPs:
Better The Demon You Know, by HenriettaRHippo @henriettarhippo-hrh. Rated E, chapters 10/16.
This is one of my top three obsessions in all the fictions I’ve read. One of those that makes me drop almost literally everything when a new chapter is up. When I get an email with a reply to my comment I know a new chapter is coming and I refresh ao3 every 4 seconds to see if it’s been updated. If I’m at work and can’t really read the new chapter, I still keep the tab open and steal a second to read a line every now and then until I’m finally on my commute home. But enough about me, let’s get to this wonderful fiction!
Canon divergent universe where Aziraphale was never stationed on earth. He’s captured by hell and is offered to Crowley as a reward for (accidentally, but Beelzebub doesn’t need to know that) discorporating Sandalphon. This story is so beautifully told, so deep and compelling. Witnessing the growing bond between Aziraphale and Crowley is so heartwarming and yet the story keeps you on the edge of your seat. I highly, highly recommend it, however please, mind the tags.
Anchored, by @curiouspupsicle. Rated T, chapters 25/27.
This great sailing AU is coming to an end and we will all be sad to see it sail away (aarrghh, sorry, couldn’t help myself!). Crowley and Aziraphale are sailors competing against each other in international races. The boy’s backstories are built up very well, their differing approaches to, well everything, are drawn brilliantly and their characterisation is great. I particularly love this version of a very self confident Aziraphale!
Do You Believe In Love Afterlife? By Letha. Rated E, chapters 10/40.
Fantastic and compelling ghost story, I’m so hooked! Aziraphale moves into his new bookshop with a flat upstairs only to find that his empty tea cups get washed and tidied up during the night. I won’t spoil the rest, but let me tell you that the writer manages to convey Crowley’s personality without him ever actually speaking. OK, I might have spoiled it a little, but one of the tags reads Crowley is a ghost, so I felt like it was allowed. And, fear not, other tags assure us there will be a happy ending. It’s honestly a great, great story! With cover art by the very talented @isiaiowin.
Accidentally In Love, by Spyglassez @wildespyder. Rated T, chapters 41/49.
Lovely, delicate story about two people who weren’t looking for love, and yet they can’t stop thinking about each other. The building of their mutual trust and friendship is really lovely to read and the slow burning is compelling. The side characters, as well as the themes of friendship and found or chosen family are particularly dear to me. Lovely story!
Floating Through A Dark Blue Sky, by AlwaysBeMyBaby @alwaysbemybae, AlwaysTuesdayToday @alwaystuesday, shatteredwriters. Rated G, chapters 1/?
Epistolary fiction showing us a series of sent and unsent letters and notes between Crowley and Aziraphale starting in 1851 when Crowley is back on earth after having spent the last two decades in hell.
Complete Fictions:
Dearly Departed, by attheborder. Rated T, 29k. P. Sep 19.
This post season 1 fiction was so much fun to read. Crowley gets discorporated in a hit and run. Aziraphale has to deal with the humans who witnessed the accident. Hastur is determined to make it impossible for Crowley to get a new body. Hilarious, heartwarming and light-hearted like only post season 1 fics can be, with incredibly well written side characters and, according to several members of the Good Omens fiction club discord server -me included- the most Aziraphalean BAMF Aziraphale you'll ever see. A real treat!
Petrichor And Parchment, by MrsNoggin. Rated E, 33k. P. Dec 19.
Lovely human AU where Aziraphale buys a cottage in a village. The cottage is lovely, but the garden needs tending to. Yes, you guessed who the lucky gardener is. This story had great characterisation and interactions. Crowley and Aziraphale’s insecurities are credible and relatable and the way they overcome them very convincing. I loved it!
Wednesday, by LucyCrewe11. Rated T, 52k. P. Nov 2020.
***Trigger warning, please read: one of the co-authors of Good Omens is mentioned at the beginning of most chapters in this fic, after a quote from another book of his. Both authors have several cameos in the fiction, they are both called by names. If you think seeing the name triggers you you might want to consider giving this fic a miss. Feel free to ask me if you need to know more before deciding whether to read it. Please mind how you go.***
Oooohhh, this fic was so up my street! Thank you so much to Tamsin for recommending it! Canon divergent AU, a bit parallel universe, a bit reverse omens. The beginning is set after season 1: Hastur wants to take revenge on Crowley and tricks him into drinking a potion that sends him into a parallel dimension where he's the archangel Raphael and Zira is a Prince of Hell. They are both stationed on earth. Zira has no knowledge of the universe Crowley/Raphael comes from and only sees Crowley/Raphael as an archenemy to discorporate with elaborate plans. Crowley is determined to win Zira over and to go back to his own Aziraphale, but matters are complicated by the fact that when Zira discorporates him he always wakes up on the same Wednesday morning. Every time.
The plot of this fic is so clever! The evolving of the relationship between Crowley/Raphael and Zira only thanks to what Crowley learns about Zira each time AND what Crowley knows about his angel Aziraphale is done masterfully. Truly great fiction, heartwarming, intriguing and delightful!
Bringing Up Warlock, by HKBlack. Rated T, 25 k. P. Oct 24.
When I saw that this fiction had been selected to be read as our fic of the week in our Fiction Club discord server, I thought Yay! Warlock fiction! It's not a Warlock fiction! Well, not in the way I expected! What this human AU is is a hilarious strangers to lovers where Aziraphale works at a museum and Crowley is an adorable disaster. Oh, and he also has a swan… er… goose… well, large bird he needs to look after until he can give it to his aunt. Inspired by the film Bringing Up Baby, you can enjoy the fic without having watched the film.
Promise, by AppleSeeds. Rated T, 16k. P. Dec 24.
I cried. There, I said it. I mean, it's not that it's angsty (maybe for some the first chapter might be angsty, though), it's just that it's so, so touching. It's a human AU where Crowley and Aziraphale were school friends until Crowley moved to Scotland. One Christmas Aziraphale is at his parents’ house and gets a letter addressed to him. Beautiful.
Wanting You… Is New (A 90 Days Companion Fic), by @spectrallydistracted. Rated M, 24k. P. Jul 25.
As the title suggests, this human AU is a companion to 90 Days To Change Your Life (the fictions can be read in any order). This is Aziraphale’s version of the story. Aziraphale is an ace gay man who finds joy in dancing. He has a day job in a London bookshop chain and a night job at This Gilded Cage, a London night club. Crowley is a patron at The Gilded Cage who goes home with a different woman every night. Nothing can possibly happen, right? Having read 90 Days first, I loved reading the story from Aziraphale’s POV! Bee is an outstanding side character, I can't praise them enough! But don't be fooled, the author also has her flaws… she made me like Michael and I'm not ok with it!
One-shots and short fics:
Survival Is Insufficient Without Love (A Series Of Post-Apocalypse Vignettes), by @bohoteacher. Rated T, 7k. P. Jul 25.
This beautiful story is a new classic! The narration is so tender, the prose so poetic, the plot so powerful! Can you tell I loved it? Post-apocalyptic human AU in which Crowley is in search of a garden and Aziraphale is in search of a printing press. Or rather, I'm sure you'll forgive me, Crowley is in search of a Garden and Aziraphale is in search of a Printing Press because these two things become almost mythical elements in the dynamics of this fic. I cried more times than I can tell you while reading, but mostly it was emotional, hopeful tears. That's what this fiction is full of: hope. Hope in the face of near-extinction. Hope and love and fight and resistance and community and home. Because without these things, survival is insufficient.
Genesis, by @dbacklot99. Rated M, 690 words. P. Feb. 25.
Abel and Cain from the point of view of the angel and the demon who were stationed on earth. This fic reminded me a lot of A Companion To Owls both in plot and tone and it was a pleasure to read.
Hello Again, by SpectrallyDistracted. Rated G, 888 words. P. Mar 25.
This short human AU is incredibly deep and beautiful and powerful. It hits hard but it's so worth it.
Sapiens, by AppleSeeds. Rated T, 9k. P. Aug 22.
Very sweet human AU where Aziraphale and Crowley haven't met, but admire each other’s work in the science and humanities fields. When they meet at an event organized by Aziraphale and his team someone is going to be smitten.
With Fairest Flowers, by scienceblues. Rated T, 4k. P. Sep 24.
Lovely established relationship human AU featuring sassy and self confident actor Aziraphale. All fluff and humour, it's adorable!
A Very Successful Trial, by @luinlothana. Rated T, 7k. P. Aug 25.
Very sweet story featuring human Aziraphale and demon Crowley. Aziraphale accidentally summons a demon. And then he does it again. Loved the humour!
The Importance Of Being Mr. Brown, by graywings @smua70. Rated T, 2k. P. Aug 25.
Lovely established relationship, post canon fic. Aziraphale and Crowley help put up a production of The Importance Of Being Earnest in the village in the South Downs where they have retired. The director, a Mr. Browne, might have a thing for Aziraphale. Luckily, our matchmaking duo might have just the right person for him.
Flavors, by dbacklot99. Rated M, 1.3k. P. Mar 25.
In this beautiful in-universe fiction Aziraphale finds an original and marvellous way to tell Crowley what he means to him.
Orbits, by @angie-words. Rated G, 3k. P. Jul 25.
Beautiful and heartwarming post canon fiction. Our Ineffables have a picnic on the roof of the bookshop to watch a meteor shower when Crowley reveals to Aziraphale why he's so fond of Alpha Centauri. This is just how I imagine their relationship to be like once they are safe.
Wise As Serpents, by @on1occasionfork. Rated G, 2k. P. Jul 24.
In-universe story where Aziraphale makes friends with snakes he meets at the park and asks them to deliver a message to Crowley. Very sweet.
A London Afternoon, by Tartan_is_stylish. Rated G, 1,2k. P. Sep 24.
With no Armageddon to thwart, Crowley is getting bored. No matter what he does, he can't get Aziraphale to pay attention to him. Lovely story with a very sweet ending! Crowley's characterisation is spot on and very funny!
Give A Man A Mask, by Ventriloki (feral_but_fluffy). Rated T, 5k. P. Oct 23.
Beautiful and heartbreaking through the ages fic. Aziraphale is taking part in a carnival party in Venice when he's approached by a man wearing a mask and a costume so that no part of him is at all visible. They start chatting and walk away from the main hall. The man reminds Aziraphale of Crowley, but he's not Crowley. But it could be. But it's not. But it could be. Oh, the longing in this fic! Argh!
Biblical, by @fallenwithoutgrace. Rated E, 7k. P. Feb 25.
Very hot post canon fiction where our Ineffables confess their feelings for the first time. And then, things happen. I loved the characterisation and the banter!
Naked Man Friend, by @groovynightstrawberry. Rated E, 6k. P. Aug 25.
Great human AU written for Good Omens After Dark Streak Week. Aziraphale reluctantly goes on holiday in France. Whilst walking on the seaside, he stumbles on a nudist beach. This fic is hot, funny and romantic! Great characterisation and the sweetest ending. I loved it!
Poem:
Wake Up, My Darling, by @firstvisittoearth. Rated M. P. Mar 25.
The words in this poem flow and sound like music. Sexiness, fluff and domestic bliss, what more could we want for our Ineffables?

New fic - A Very Successful Trial
Welcome to my human AU with supernatural elements
Rated T, 7522 words
Summary: Aziraphale never intended for the summoning to work, not really. But he may have got a little excited upon discovering the original version of a ritual while working on restoring an old occult book. He just recreated the steps out of scientific curiosity, really. But when the summoning actually unexpectedly worked, at least it summoned a being who was nice about the whole thing.

My second FTH fic - A Job for Newt
It should come as a surprise to exactly nobody that it's hard to find a job when any technology tends to have an allergic reaction to one's presence. This is especially true in a village like Tadfield. Which doesn't mean Newt doesn't give it his best try.
Summary: After moving in with Anathema Newt feels he should find a job to contribute to their budget. Unfortunately for him, Tadfield isn't big enough to easily find jobs not requiring any contact with technology.

Summary: Gemma never thought she'd end up in a situation where she'd be making shady deals with a suspiciously looking individual but it seemed that's what she was about to do. What made it even more ridiculous was that it was all because she needed a particular book.
