Hay de chilaquiles a chilaquiles: Pasilla picosita, crema, queso; todo gloriosamente coronado con tasajo y cecina enchilada. Definitivamente uno de mis lugares favoritos en la ciudad: Las Tlayudas.

Oaxacan food is dear to me. While there are many upcoming places in the city that offer good food, they all seem to me a bit pretentious. “Las Tlayudas” in la Roma neighborhood is a little Fonda that captures the very best of Oaxaca: simple and delicious comforting food. Like it should be.

They offer an amazing menu of tacos, enormous tlayudas and many things related to Oaxaca but something that caught my eye (and stomach) was their breakfast menu: omelets with Hoja Santa, goat cheese, and many other goodies. But the chilaquiles… The fucking chilaquiles!

These are the spicy pasilla ones, with crema, cheese, tasajo and spiced cecina. Some refried beans and you can say goodbye to your hangover.
