arcane fandom reaction!!

posted a classic fandom reaction today!! we're exploring the arcane fandom....

I've heard a lot about arcane, but I've also heard a lot of less than positive things about the fandom. However, the main thing I will admit to having retained about the show is the knowledge that bbno$ dressed up as one of the guys from jayvik and then kissed Will Neff about it. Also there was a lot of discourse about whether or not he was pandering to the fandom, which was very funny because it reminded me of how many random tiktokkers, youtubers, and streamers pandered to the dsmp fandom in 2021. At the time I found it mind-numbingly obnoxious but now I can admit that its really funny when random guys with british accents get small tiktok followings for pretending to like some minecraft youtubers.

Ok, this post has totally lost the plot. are there fandoms that shouldn't exist?

in this video, i explore the mouthwashing fandom, and the common refrain that "mouthwashing shouldn't have a fandom."

This involves a lot of different topics: what is a fandom, why are there fandoms, why does mouthwashing have a fandom, and why do people think it shouldn't. We also talk more generally about the overall trend of fandom, and why it sometimes seems incongruous for certain media to have a fandom attached to them, whereas for some other fandoms it seems to make perfect sense.

I tried to approach the topic with nuance -- although there are obviously things that I don't enjoy about this fandom and the discourse surrounding it, I think that the larger problem is more about how we do fandom right now rather than with individual fans and the things they enjoy. But for more information on that, you'll need to watch the video!
