Had to take my first sick day from my new-ish job today (ugh) and had been told during my onboarding to ‘just send an email to the email-account for admin sick days/leave and cc the team lead’ except I when I tried to do that, I found out that there are literally 5 different email accounts that pop up when you search for admin sick days/leave in our organisational address book. FIVE. All called almost the same thing, none of them with any auto reply activated to indicate what they’re for.

I just spent 30 minutes trying to find out which one it is and there’s nothing. No specifics. Not on our shared file system, in the procedure list, the employee handbook. Nada. Just the same general info I’d been given before.

For a wild second I actually just considered giving up and going to work but then I was hit by a massive wave of nausea and dizziness and came to my remaining senses

Also in my very very slight defence I a) am not a very handy person at all and absolutely assumed I was just bad at hammering at first because b) the brick was covered up by a layer of plaster long before I moved in, so it was only when I attempted to drill into it I was able to see the differently coloured brick behind the plaster.

Also, I’m far more stubborn than I am wise. That’s not a defence, it’s just an unfortunate fact.
