“puddlemere’s gone through a bit of a rebranding…” molly explained, taking the sweets that rose returned to her and biting into a wand with enthusiasm. “they want their players to have a more “organic” relationship with fans. honestly, i think they brought me on because i’m a little…not boring, straight, white, male, and rich? in addition to being wildly talented and fit.”
Tumblr media
“what else would you being doing today?” she parroted. her eyes lit up with the opportunity to tease her cousin. “well, you and scamander have been awfully chummy lately…”
“mmm, they’re trying to make quidditch cool again?” rose asked with a giggle. she had always enjoyed the games, of course, but even she could see that molly’s team could use a bit of work. “you’re probably the most interesting one on the team, right?” she said, shaking her head at her cousin’s ego.
Tumblr media
“oh, we’re not...i mean, yeah, me and ly are friends,” she said, feeling her cheeks grow warm. “we’ve always been good friends, molly, you know that.”

who: lysander || @wholehevrted where: st mungo’s
as the day went on, the pain seemed to subside. whether that was because of the numerous potions the healers had brought to her bedside or some quick work of those with her in diagon alley was yet to be seen. she had been dosing on and off throughout the day, and for a moment thought the figure standing in her doorway was a dream. “ly, what are you doing here?” she asked, her voice soft. out of all the visitors that could have walked through the door, she was thankful it was lysander.

who: the granger-weasley gang || @cursewrought && @boggart where: st mungo’s after the battle
rose hadn’t even opened her eyes, but she could already tell every inch of her was in pain. she couldn’t imagine a time where she felt this weak. slowly cracking her eyes open, she realized she was in an insufferably bright room. “merlin,” she muttered as she looked around, wondering if this is what heaven looked like. it couldn’t be so dreadfully boring, could it? it took her a few moments to realize there were others in the room, sitting near the edge of her bed. “mum? dad?” she asked, her voice still weak and seeming to crack with every word she could croak out. “i’m so...sorry.” she knew she had been woefully underprepared, even with the anxiety surrounding the event.

“d’you think we’ll have it all done in time?” rose asked, looking up from the mixing bowl she had been hunched over for what seemed like hours. their grandmother deserved the best cake they could rummage up, of course, but she wasn’t sure that she was the most qualified weasley to take care of that task. “and we don’t have any streamers yet, do we? anywhere?” she said with a huff. “should we have asked some of the others to help, you think?”

Who: James & Open
It had been a long day, although lately everyday seemed to feel like a long day. To be fair, James did it to himself; when he got overwhelmed he purposefully put more and more on his plate, refusing to stop as if looking for a way to self-sabotage everything he had going on. His father had been the only one who could ever talk any sense into him when he got like this as a kid, but that wasn’t an option anymore. He had been grading all day and started reaching out to talk to anyone who would give him the time of day as soon as he got through the last one, exhausted but unwilling to just stop for even a moment.
He looked up at the person next to him only for a moment, passing them a drink before taking a sip of his own before plastering a somewhat plausible grin on his face, faking a weak attempt at a laugh. “You know I had six second years ask me if I was really Harry Potter’s son today. Six. One even gave me an entire timeline of every time he supposedly used Expelliarmus rather than turning in the paper I actually assigned.”
Tumblr media
Saying it had been a long day may be an understatement. Rose felt as if she was drowning in paperwork as her office tried to reword a few arbitrary rules to make them more clear. Whatever the case was, she certainly needed a drink and wasn’t about to turn down a night with her cousin.
“Oh, you’re Harry Potter’s son?” she asked with a weak chuckle, the name still seeming to twist a knife in her chest whenever she heard it. “Don’t they make an announcement at the beginning of every year or something? You’d think the students would, uh, know that now’s not the time to ask,” she said, her voice trailing off at the end. “How are you doing, James? Really?” she said after a quick gulp of the drink he’d passed over.

Luna smiled at Rose, both because she was pleased to see her and because she found her naivete amusing. “Oh, they would, Rose. The people who run this shop are not to be trusted. All they want is money.” Luna gave the slime another one over, and then dropped it in her basket. She would risk it, she decided. “I often don’t know where you are, but I’m quite glad to see you here. What are you shopping for?”
Tumblr media
“Maybe we shouldn’t be shopping here, then?” Rose asked with a laugh. She wasn’t about to leave, and it was nice to run into Luna at any rate. “‘m usually at the Ministry, if you’re looking for me,” she said with a bit of a shrug. “I’m glad to see you here too, Luna, really,” she said with a smile. “I was just getting some odds and ends. Molly’s gone and burnt herself on the cauldron again, and we’ve been running low on the items we need for burn paste, so I figured while I was out I’d stop in,” she rambled, before taking a glance down at Luna’s basket. “What’s the slime for?”

“the PR team checks them for hexes before i get them,” molly explained, a flush growing in her cheeks at the sheer size of the letter pile. she hadn’t told her cousin about the volume, but in her defense…she had no defense. she made a move to grab the unopened pack of licorice wands sitting on her dresser and handed them to rose as an unspoken ‘thank you, sorry i’m so terrible!’. “and i’m also a lazy fool who doesn’t want to answer her mail.”
“marriage proposals, propositions,” molly waggled her brows. “they run the gambit. one time someone asked if i’d appear in an advertisement for their cauldron cleaning solution. as if i’ve ever cleaned a cauldron.”
Tumblr media
“anyway, i owe you. whatever chore you want help with, name it.”
“you’d think they could put out a generic reply for you as well, hm?” rose said with a bit of a chuckle. she didn’t mind helping with the letters, not really. it was nice to spend a few hours with her cousin; it seemed as if nothing had been calm in her life in ages. but opening letters and sorting them into piles? a little boring, sure, but there were worse things she could be doing. she murmured a thank you as she took the licorice wands, opening the pack and grabbing one to eat before offering one to molly as well.
“oh, so you’re famous enough for commercials, and you still choose to grace me with your presence?” rose said with a smirk. “oh, don’t worry about it. what else would i be doing today?”

wholehevrted:
Lysander couldn’t help the way their eyes stayed glued to Rose even in the dark, taking in the way she relaxed under the cover the darkness, hidden away from the swarm of guests inside. They couldn’t help the way they tightened their grip on her hand, just for a moment, trying to convey everything - their support, that they were there for them, their love - in that singular gesture. “I can always go back in and come up with some sort of distraction,” they said with a mischievous grin, mind darting to the different ways they could cause some chaos if need be. “I haven’t started a fight in a bit,” they offered, only half joking.
“It’s better now,” they admitted, tone teasing but words far too honest. Things were always better when they were around Rose, even before they started whatever this was between them. “Kind of just been trying to keep an eye on everyone,” they admitted. Their mom, Rose, everyone else they cared about-they were all mourning and overwhlemed, and Lysander just wanted to fix it.
Tumblr media
Even now, in the few moments she could steal away with Lysander, Rose felt herself relaxing. It was easy to just be around them, not feel as if she had to put on a show for everyone in the room. “Mmm, perhaps not a fight. I could use a distraction, though,” she said with a chuckle, leaning over to brush a quick kiss against her friend’s cheek. Rose didn’t doubt that her friend would do almost anything to pull the attention off her for a few moments, but she wasn’t sure that her family needed any additional stress tonight.
“Funny, mine’s better too,” she said, a smile slowly starting to form on her lips. Even with the night’s event weighing heavily on her mind, things did seem a bit lighter with Ly around. Settling her head on the other’s shoulder, she sighed. “You’re too good to us, Ly. You know that?”

theoddores:
where: ministry of magic atrium
when:  september 16, 2029
who: open !!
Tumblr media
the entire environment felt stuffy, even for someone as grandeur dreaming as theodore. perhaps it was the location, somewhere far too adult in his eyes, far too old money meets manila folders. or maybe it was the mood that clung to his person like perfume, somewhere between grief and tension. he’d picked the latter, not that he’d had much choice in the matter. his father was long gone, lost in conversation and talks of donation - networking in a way, making sure to remind the ministry of how untroublesome the shop had been, of how small businesses such as theirs worked along ( and up, and down, and spiraling around, and then doing a little trip around the next loophole ) the law. theo, however, was just company. he was years away from being half the face of the shop anyway. the young man leaned against an old and intricate pillar, eyes on the orchestra in an almost longing way, a fresh drink on his hand. “ is it considered trashy or hilarious if i were to get absolutely wasted at this thing ? “ he managed to sneak two sips in that sentence. “ or is it already a bit trashy that i’m asking this ? “
her eyes wandered over to the man standing next to her. plenty of people had been trying to strike up a conversation; perhaps it was the point of the ball, and perhaps it was foolish to think she could slide under the radar tonight. however, she didn’t exactly expect to see theo standing next to her, nor did she expect to have to talk to him tonight. “some might even consider it trashy that you showed up tonight,” she said, her voice even. after all this time, she wasn’t prepared to hear his voice again. he used to be a constant in the weasley’s life, and she had grown used to his presence. however, the mere sight of him made her worried, not just for her family but for the safety of the event as a whole.

where: inaugural ball  with: @cfmxsingss // axton
Though the past few months had not gone at all like anyone in her family had planned, it was quite a nice change of pace to be able to celebrate her mother. Of course, Hermione was the obvious choice for Minister of Magic, but no one in her family expected her to take over in this way, or quite so soon. However, all Rose wanted to do was celebrate tonight. With the sight of her friend across the ballroom, she left her empty glass on the bar and made her way over to his side. “Axton!” she said, her smile growing. “’ve you been enjoying yourself?”

where - diagon alley, slug and jiggers. who - luna & open.
“No, no — I’m sure it’s fine.” It wasn’t a rare thing, to catch Luna Lovegood talking to herself in public. Growing up with little company had made her prone to thinking out loud every now and then ( and then, on the other hand, it made her prone to sinking in her thoughts and zoning out for minutes on end, even when in front of others ), and she had never been ashamed of it, and thus had seen no reason to unlearn it. And so, as she stood in Slug & Jiggers, judging the contents of a bottle filled with Billywig sting slime, she hardly cared that there were others who could hear her. But despite her efforts, she was unable to pass a proper judgement. She needed a second opinion. Eyes moved away from the bottle as she searched for someone, anyone really. Luna looked at them for a moment before talking a step closer and holding the bottle in front of the other’s face, the concept of personal space forgotten momentarily. “Do you think this looks cloudy?”
Tumblr media
Rose had barely noticed Luna’s presence in the shop until she started speaking aloud. They hadn’t come together, no, but it was a toss up as to if Luna was talking to herself or talking to Rose. She had only needed a few basic items today, but it wasn’t much trouble to help out her old family friend. “Oh, no,  I’m sure it’s fine,” she said with a bit of a laugh. “They wouldn’t be trying to sell you old slime, would they?” she asked, thouyyidn’t know you were here,” she said, a gentle smile.

wholehevrted:
Lysander would be lying if they tried to say they didn’t know where Rose was in the room at any given point during the evening. Part of it was just the energy Rose exuded, easy to find in a crowd when you know what to look for, and part of it was because it was her mother who was being honored tonight, so it wasn’t like their friend was flying under the radar. But mostly, it was because Ly was worried about their friend, and doing their best to keep an eye on her as the evening dragged on.
So it wasn’t a surprise, when Rose’s fingers curled around their elbow, but Lysander’s cheeks heated at the contact anyway as Rose’s words processed. “Merlin, please,” Lysander said, only half putting on a dramatic tone. They didn’t mind the ball, really, but time with Rose away from the crowd sounded better, regardless of what the two of them ended up doing. They adjusted the way they were holding their arm, shrugging off Rose’s hand in order to tangle their fingers together as they tugged the girl towards the exit. “Need a break from this, yeah?” they asked, voice quiet as they slipped out the door.
The festivities seemed as if they would never end. To be fair, the proceeds were going to a good cause, but Rose just needed a few moments away. She relaxed as soon as she heard her friend’s voice. Lysander could always be counted on as an escape, even in the middle of a crowded ballroom. Rose gave their hand a quick squeeze as they pulled her towards the door. “Please,” she breathed, knowing there wasn’t much else to say.
The cool night air felt ever so refreshing as it hit her face, and Rose let herself lean against the balcony. She didn’t let go of Lysander’s hand, wanting to keep the other close. “Wonder how long it’ll be until they notice I’m missing,” she said with a laugh, though it sounded strained. “How’s your night been, though?”

where: inaugural ball  with: @wholehevrted
the last thing rose wanted to do right now was celebrate. perhaps it had been foolish, but she had imagined her mother’s inauguration happening in a number of ways. somehow, it was never like this. never ushered in with the death of her mother’s friend, the death of her mother’s mentor. the death of rose’s uncle. it felt wrong, in a way, to celebrate. but she knew they had no other choice.
her friend stood out in the crowd; they always did. with a goblet of pumpkin juice clutched in her hand, rose made her way across the room. she smiled and indulged some almost-strangers in pleasantries before arriving at her friend’s side. “you want to get out of here, ly?” she asked, a hand gently falling on their arm to grab their attention.

mollswsly:
where: molly & co.’s flat, molly’s room who: molly & rose
molly heaved a wooden crate overflowing with envelopes onto her bed, overturning it so letters spilled into a haphazard pile. “thank you so much, rose, you have no idea,” she grunted. it had been nearly three months since she last sorted through her fanmail, an activity that was novel and fun the first time she did it, and much less fun every subsequent time. she’d begged a number of her cousins to come over and knock out the replies in one go, but rose was the only one gullible kind enough to say yes.
“so — if the writer is a kid, put those in a pile,” the young witch instructed her cousin. she pulled a smaller box from under her bed, laden with stationary (and the odd sparkle gel pen). “i’ll reply to those personally. if the writer sounds like a cute girl, send theeeeem…one of…these.” she brandished a stack of portraits. a few dozen mollys in her navy blue quidditch uniform smiled and waved back at rose. “if they’re a creepy man proposing marriage, one of these.” a new stack of portraits with the same photo of a smiling molly, only these were signed in looping script: ‘sorry mate, i’m gay!’
her eyes widened as molly poured a whole crate of letters onto her bed, the task in front of them finally sinking in. it wasn’t as if rose was clueless; her cousin was a quite popular quidditch player, and fan letters seemed to come with the territory. but she didn’t remember her saying that she had quite this many letters to go through. she plucked a few off the top, flipping the envelopes over in her hands. “they really love you, huh?” she said with a bit of a laugh.
“do you, uh, get marriage proposals often?” rose said as she started to open a letter. the scrawl on the front made it seem as if it was from a kid, and the letter inside confirmed it. lila, age nine, written at the end of the letter in an almost unreadable scribble. “i didn’t know fans were so, uh,” her words trailed off, trying to find something that didn’t sound rude. “rabid?”

❝ i've been having a hard time adjusting, had the shiniest wheels, now they're rusting ❞ huh, who’s aisha dee? no, you’re mistaken, that’s actually rose granger-weasley. she is a twenty-three year old half-blood witch who is an assistant in the department of international magic co-operation. she is known for being stubborn, impatient, fickle, envious, and critical but also confident, responsible, versatile, intelligent, and independent so that must be why she always reminds me of the song this is me trying by taylor swift and overflowing bookshelves, bright smiles, and warm tea on a winter morning, lavender candles. i hear she is aligned with the order of the phoenix, so be sure to keep an eye on her.
timeline
first-born child to hermione granger and ron weasley, rose grew up in a happy home. doted on by her parents for being the first-born, her family never seemed to run out of attention to give her. she was reading at an early age, content to sit by the fireside and tell her mum about all the fantastic creatures in her books. through and through, however, she was always a daddy’s girl. he taught her how to fly, and she found nothing more satisfying than his belly laughs to a bad joke she told or a prank she played on her sibling. rose especially loved the weekends when her extended family would visit, or her own family would take a trip back to her grandparents’ house. her childhood was full of laughter and love and light, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
it didn’t take her long to find her place in hogwarts. the sorting hat knew where to place her almost instantly    gryffindor, like most of her family before her. she was proud to don the gold and red, happy to find a new family when she was so far away from home. her father had always been a fan of quidditch matches, and she had a special place in her heart for the holyhead harpies. she took easily to flying, and joined the gryffindor team during her second year. though she could often be found in the library, spending late nights finishing essays and studying for exams, she always made time for whatever hijinks her family was up to.
she aced her owls and newts, and had the whole wizarding world open to her after graduation. there was always a worry in the back of her mind, wondering if people would believe she was just following in her parents footsteps or coasting through because of her last name. landing an internship after she graduated, she found herself in the department of international magic co-operation. it was, to her at least, a fascinating job where she got to meet a lot of very important people. her internship led to the current assistant position she holds in the same department. though she’s enjoyed her time there, she’s curious as to what the department holds for her career, or where else in the ministry she could find her true passion.
of course, there are whispers in her family when kingsley is found dead. there’s whispers throughout the ministry, of course, but she tells herself that everything will be okay. everything is always okay. when her uncle is murdered, however, it seems like her earth shatters before her eyes. she was close to him, and the loss hits her in a way she hasn’t truly admitted. she joins the order with a fire in her heart. she’s angry her uncle was taken from this earth so soon, she’s angry as she watches her parents grieve their best friend.
her job at the ministry is mostly paperwork, leaving her desk only for coffee and the rare meeting. so when she’s thrown into the war brewing, she’s worried that she won’t find her place. of course, she wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, but she wonders if this isn’t a place she belongs. it’s obvious, of course, with her close ties to the family, that she’s joined the order. she doesn’t mention it at work, won’t speak to her coworkers about the dangers brewing right outside their door.
wanted connections
co-workers/someone she always sees at the ministry on the way to work
old classmates (friends, enemies, teammates, rivals, give me all of it)
weasley clan!!!
roommate/s!!
exes
childhood/school crush
pls let her be friends with someone she doesn’t know is working for the death eaters/using her in some way
