Jasper’s Gem is her defect

I’ve mentioned this in reblogs, but it needs its own post. If only to keep my sh’t organized…

To be more specific, her Gem size. 

Let’s start by comparing CG Amethyst to the Famethyst:

Her Gem is the same shape and same size as the other Amethyst’s. And, despite what some theorists have been claiming, we have NO reason to think any of them is defective. Especially since we have an actual expert on the subject commenting on it. 

Peridot: “I tell you, it really makes you appreciate the Prime Kindergarten, Amethyst. Your Kindergarten was so thought through! Sure, you might have spent extra time in the ground, but everything else is stacked in your favor! Great location, great holes, even spacing, consistent depth, a real kindergartener gets it right.”

The only reason Amethyst ended up smaller is because she stayed in the ground to long. If not for that, she would ended up looking like her Prime sisters. The problem with Beta was not that it was a Kindergarten on Earth, it was the fact that it was a rushjob. As Peridot points out, there is some serious planning involved in creating a proper Kindergarten. 

Let’s look at the Beta’s:

Despite looking different, all of their Gems (that we’ve seen) have the same size and same shape. A safe assumption here is that a Jasper Gem is supposed to be round and smooth. 

Another misconception the fandom often does is think that Jasper was the only successful Gem from Beta. And the show never said that. What we’ve been told about Jasper is that she’s the only perfect Quartz made on Beta. That Jasper somehow came out absolutely perfect despite coming from a Kindergarten that was a total rush job. 

They don’t look that different from the Amethyst’s. So, for all we know, some of the Beta’s we see in That Will Be All could be normal Jasper’s. They could be what a Jasper is supposed to look like. 

So we have an idea of what a Jasper Gem is supposed to look like. And possibly an idea of how a Jasper holographic body is supposed to look like. So back to our Jasper: 

Her Gem is a sliver of what it should be. While other Jasper’s have a round, smooth Gem, Jasper’s……is a nose. 

So Jasper being perfect is not due to her Gem. Its because of the code on it. Jasper’s Gem somehow has a perfect code, perfect data stored in it despite being half the size of what its supposed to be. And, this is subtle, but Jasper actually projects a beefier body than the Famethyst. 

So Jasper’s Beta origins is always visible. Whenever she sees a reflection of herself, she sees the thing that marks her as a Beta Gem. As an Earthling. And we can now infer that being an Earthling is a black mark in the eyes of Homeworld. 

Earth is an awful place. And anyone from that place is just as awful. 

It doesn’t matter that Jasper is a hero to the “grunts” of Homeworld, Earth is still a hated place. And she is keenly aware of her Diamond that she failed to protect. 

Not to mention Jasper has been alone all this time. The other Betas had each other for support. Thanks to Holly Blue, I’m certain that they know how Homeworld sees them. Sees Earth. But they have each other for support. 

Jasper doesn’t. She’s been all alone, surrounded by this idea that Earth and everything related to it is awful. And on her face, she has a visual reminder of her own origins. That marks as defective despite having a perfect code.

Call for Submissions for Phanatic Phanzine

Opening up submissions for the Phanatic Phanzine! 🥳Calling upon phandom members, new and old, to share their love for Dan and Phil!

We survived the Dan and Phil hiatus, and all we're making is this zine 🌈

The Phanatic Phanzine is a fanzine project created by myself and @aaaaaaaaa-no to celebrate the Dan and Phil content and fandom revival we are seeing. This will be a digital zine including artwork, fanvid tributes, poetry, and personal stories of the space DnP hold in our lives!

The plan is to compile these fan efforts into a digital zine by Christmas '23 and present it to DnP as a gift. 🎀

Since we intend to share it with dnp we will not be taking fanfic or NSFW submissions but we intend to do another zine in the future for the fans celebrating the fandom itself so look out for that one!

General guidelines

We are accepting submissions in the form of artworks, fanvids, written personal accounts, and poetry. You may submit any of the media above but please keep in mind that we will only be accepting five artworks, two fanvids, one written personal account and three poems per person.

The submissions will be screened for anything NSFW, and no fanfiction is being accepted. Likewise, please be mindful of the language used in written pieces. All submissions will be entertained in good faith.

Submissions are to be sent to the email id provided above. Please add the name you wish to be credited with + any social media links to add, or specify if you would like your submission to be anonymous

Al generated content will not be a part of this zine

Any doubts or questions can be cleared via asks or messages on Tumblr, to either me or @aaaaaaaaa-no feel free to ask!

Specific guidelines:

For artwork:

Artwork can be digital, traditional, or mixed media

Submissions must be in the email attachment in jpg or png format

Old fanworks that have already been posted are allowed. For new works, please try to not post the full piece (wips okay) till the zine is released!

No more than 5 works per person

For poetry and personal accounts:

Word limit of 1000 words at most. Short notes with lower word count are more than welcome

All written submissions must be in a word or Google document, or written in the body of an email.

Anything posted elsewhere is allowed

No more than 1 personal account and 3 poems per person

For fanvids:

The video must be uploaded as an unlisted video on YouTube or similar video-sharing platforms. Videos that are already posted are allowed as well

Video links and a thumbnail in png or jpg format are to be submitted. The links will be converted to QR codes to present on the digital zine alongside the thumbnail You will be notified via email a few days before the zine is released so the videos can be made public in case they are currently unlisted

Shipping videos are not allowed for this zine, please be mindful of the same

No more than 2 fanvids per person

Adherence to the guidelines will make sorting much easier for the compilers so please try to do so!

To reiterate: even if you send in content that we cannot use we will engage with you in good faith 🌸

Please don’t be disheartened if your piece doesn’t make it! We plan to start work on a fanzine exclusively for the fandom (by and for the fans) soon which will allow content disallowed for this zine, so look out for that!😁

Plural Alterhuman flag / Plural Alterhuman Solidarity flag

A plural flag for those who consider their plurality to be alterhuman or intrinsically tied to their alterhumanity, those who are both plural and alterhuman in general, and/or those who want to explicitly include both plurality and alterhumanity in a flag.

Essentially, a tie together between plurality and alterhumanity in some way. It may be used for one's personal identity, or it might just be a show of solidarity.

The symbol on the left is the plural spiral. You can add any alterhuman/plural/etc. symbol to the flag if you want to, though.

Hey therians? Your paws/hooves/claws/talons/fins might be different from what they should look like, but you are still beautiful and perfect and an animal no matter how different you look. If you should have a tail, I know it's hard not being able to express yourself how you feel you should be able to, but you are not alone. If your legs don't bend and work how they should, or if you should even have them at all, you're doing amazing at adapting and using these legs despite how different and uncomfortable it may be. You are still an animal, regardless of how you look and how your body works. Your body does not define you, and I know it's hard when people don't see you for what you are, but you are still you, and you're beautiful even in this form. There are people who will see you and accept you for who you are, and there are other animals who face the same struggles as you, who will stand by you when humans won't, and who will always give you a shoulder to lean on, and a community to help you through the hard times. You are perfect just the way you are, and you will never be alone.

I'm not sure if this will come out right but:

Being loved is NOT a reward for being beneficial or useful in any way. You don't become less deserving of being loved if you aren't productive for a day or if you have a bad day and can't get out of bed.

I promise. Being loved has nothing to do with how you "help" the world or those around you.

Yes it's true, your non-kin companions might not see you for who you truly are. But I see your eyes, your ears, your tails, I see both snouts and muzzles alike, I see beings of great power, beings of great wisdom, beings of great kindness.

Look in the mirror again. Can't you see what I see?

this is your daily reminder to be cringe out of spite. wear your tail and ears out to the store. go to your back yard and howl at the moon. make a den, cave, or burrow out of pillows and blankets in your living room, bring popcorn inside, and watch cartoons on any device you can fit down there. practice making kintype appropriate animal noises. run around the house on all fours. climb a tree and look down at the world from the branches. sit in chairs like your kintype would. mix foods to look more like kintype related food and eat it. talk to your stuffed animal. heck, carry it around like a dog toy! it isn't against the law, and cringe culture just doesn't matter anymore. you are you, my animal friend. and by being you, you spite hundreds of anti otherkins and cringe culture enjoyers. be proud of it, spiting cringe culture is an achievement.

Animals walk among you. No, not just humans, even though yes, they are animals, you may shout in disdain and protest. All manner of felines, canines, ungulates, aquatics, avians, invertebrates, reptiles... You may not be able to see it clearly, but no matter what, there are certainly more than just humans at every turn.

Lycans walk among you. Despite their current forms and appearance and how you may see them, they have not lost their fangs, their fur, their howls, their hearts. Be mindful of whose territory you cross and listen well for their midnight songs.

Dragons walk among you. Though they are without their wings or tails or horns, and you may disdain some as actual dragons, they have not lost their inner flames and booming voices. Do not trifle with them lightly, for they know who they are better than you ever could.

Those of the stars walk among you. Despite what the movies have told you, they do indeed come in peace, though do not mistake their peace for complacency or softness. They share this ground as equals, even if their true homes may be universes away.

The divine and ethereal walk among you. Are they everything you think they are? Are they all winged or many-eyed or unknowable? Are the demons from your dreams the reality of it all? That I cannot answer for you, though you are welcome to ask them yourself; I cannot guarantee it is within mortal understanding.

Those from worlds only ever seen in books, in written word, in fiction, walk among you. They may be worlds away or in another life or they may be detached from the spiritual all together, but nevertheless, they are here, they are real, and you shall know their stories, one way or another.

Those with the persona of an animal walk among you. Those with different hearts walk among you. Those whose identities come from a place of coping walk among you.

Those who are plants and come from the soil and sunshine and rain, walk among you. Those who are the very concept of light and dark and fire and ice walk among you. Those who are even the most seemingly ordinary of objects walk among you.

Those who are human now, human then, human sometimes, human all the time, walk among you.

Those with many selves and forms walk among you. Those who share themselves with other beings walk among you.

This is how it has always been. This is how it will continue to be. We are here. We are better together.
